After the guests finally left the palace, silence filled the air. Charlotte looked at the empty quiet halls of the palace emptiness lurking in her. She couldn't help but recollect all the memories she had in that house with her brother since she was young till few days ago. Yes, she had friends and other people in her life but she felt like she had lost her only friend and companion. She is now twenty but her brother had already taught her most things if not everything about self-defense, having fun, keeping secrets, showing care and respect to other people despite their class in the society most especially the poor and old people. "Respect is what most people in our kingdom lack and that is why it is up to us Duke Samiran and Duchess Charlotte of the South to show respect to those people." And most importantly he taught her about the History of their kingdom and that of the lost district. Their kingdom then had a powerful King by the name Augustus who reigned with power but ruled with love for his people. King Augustus ruled both the normal district and the magical district because he was a human who could had supernatural powers or rather abilities. The magical creatures were grouped into; witches and wizards, werewolves, fairies, vampires, dragons and elves. People lived together in harmony together with these creatures until one day one of the subordinates of King Augustus, Damion a vampire, who was also known for his great power went ahead and brought war in the all the five kingdoms causing a bloodbath killing countless number of innocent lives but in the end, King Augustus won with his powers and everyone was grateful but the humans lived in fear of the magical creatures so this made him cast out all the magical creatures and cast a barrier between the two district hence the name 'The lost district.' Since that day it was only the King and the royal family who were supposed to have powers but it was assured that all the incoming kings will be able to have any supernatural power because they intermarried with Princesses from other kingdoms. Later on, it was declared that anybody found with any supernatural power was to be executed with immediate effect because they were considered as threats to the kingdom.
"Let me tell you something important Char, secrets are as important as your life. Pick for example your ability to speak to the dead since you were ten and now you're sixteen. People consider such things as evil but it is not evil. It's a gift something special given to you and because it is special, you have to keep it a secret because it is as important as your life no matter the cost. Never forget that. Because when you tell them about it you will die so guard it with everything you've got. Secrets are important things in this world. They show that people have mysterious phases. Learn to keep your secrets and your own people in life because I might not be there one day."
Charlotte remembered her brother's words from four years ago. She really missed her brother. She thought that she will still be able to speak to him when he was dead but for some reason she was unable to reach him.
"Charlotte it's almost time to go" Her trail of thoughts was disrupted by her father's voice calling her from the Hallway towards the front door. She looked at her bedroom door once again before alighting the staircase and headed for the carriage waiting outside the palace. "Honey I know that you're sad that and it's not easy for you but we have to stay strong for your brother's sake." Said Carol her mother. "We have to look presentable in front of the king. Okay? She added. "Okay" Charlotte replied looking outside the window. The past few days have been tough for her she knew she had to stay strong but she was still disturbed by the fact that she could not speak to her brother yet. When the chariot halted in front of the kings Palace, Charlotte inhaled and exhaled sharply and then alighted. As she was seated with her parents, Charlotte noticed a guard staring at her but she brushed it off despite him not looking away. When the meeting with the king was over, they all went home and the only thing that was on her mind was her brother's voice. When they arrived, Charlotte dashed to her room and locked the door. She was almost desperate to hear her brother's voice. No she was too desperate to hear her brother's voice. She sat on her bed, closed her eyes and called out to her brother. "Sam, are you there? It's your tiny princess. If you can hear me, please say something I really miss you it has been hard these past six days and I really do want to hear your voice once again so please say something to me. Before she knew it tears had started rolling down her cheeks. The silence was too much for her to bear. She cried for a while and continued to try to call for her brother but it bore no fruit. After trying for a while she finally fell asleep.
