Maxwell: Thank you for having me, I will take my leave now.

Maxwell find his was to his entrance and called a cab to take him back home, suddenly his phone rings it his mother calling, he picks up the phone.

Mrs.Brave: Hi my darling are doing okay, how was the interview, did you pass?

Maxwell: Mom, I was rejected again.

Mrs. Brave: Don't worry about it, keep searching you will find a job.

Maxwell: ok Mom

Mrs. Brave: Maxwell come over dinner today your father and I want to see you.

Maxwell: I will come over if that old man isn't there.

Mrs.Brave: He said he won't around by dinner time, he has an important meeting with friends at that time.

Maxwell: Ok then I will be there.

Maxwell mother cuts the phone and looks over to Mr. Daniel who is anticipating her response.

Mrs.Brave: hey honey he said he his coming home for dinner.

Mr.Daniel: Really?

Mrs. Brave: Why do you always act like you don't care or worried about him infront of him, but you are the one that sends me to check up on him almost every week, you pay for his apartment and everything. It is as if he is no longer my son but your son.

Mr. Daniel: Honey don't say that, he is our son, he may not be my biological son but he still my son and if I don't act like that he will not want to prove me wrong.

Mrs. Brave: I don't really like your methods, just come to him cleanly.

Mr. Daniel: You know Maxwell his very competitive and that what's drive him if you tell him he can't do something he will do everything to prove you wrong otherwise he will laze around.

Mrs. Brave: is there no other methods this family is getting divided.

Mr.Daniel: I have company I want him to inherit and run it the best way but for that he needs experience we will not tell him we are rich yet he should strive on him own.

Maxwell made his way back home, stepping into the familiar comfort of his small apartment. The room felt cold, even though he had just walked through the door, as though the rejection had somehow sucked the warmth out of the place. The weight of his mother's words echoed in his mind, her expectations that he would find a job soon, even when it felt like the world was closing in on him. He sank onto his couch, staring at the ceiling.

The silence was broken by a knock at the door. Maxwell reluctantly got up and walked over, half-expecting it to be his mom. But when he opened it, he was surprised to see his old friend, Jake.

Jake: "Hey man, how's it going?"

Maxwell: "I'm alive, Jake. You?"

Jake: "Same here. I was in the neighborhood and thought I'd check in. Still going after those interviews?"

Maxwell: "Yeah, but they keep turning me away. Not good enough, apparently."

Jake: "Man, that's tough. But you can't give up. You've got your degree, you've got passion. You're just… not in the right place yet."

Maxwell: "I don't know. Feels like I'm just spinning my wheels. Everything I try, it's just another door slammed in my face."

Jake: "Look, I know it's hard, but sometimes you've got to keep pushing. Things'll change eventually, trust me."

Maxwell: "Thanks, Jake. I appreciate it. But right now, I just need to figure things out."

Jake: "Yeah, I get it. Just don't give up, alright? You've got a lot going for you."

Maxwell: "I'll try. See you around, man."

As Jake walked off, Maxwell leaned against the door, feeling more alone than ever. It was a strange feeling—having people around, but still feeling like no one really understood what he was going through. He had his mother, yes, but even that seemed strained. His father, though not biological, was someone he never connected with. And the worst part? He didn't feel ready to prove anything to either of them. It wasn't about making them proud anymore. It was about proving to himself that he could survive on his own, even when it felt like he was drowning.

And so, with the night slowly creeping in, Maxwell sat in the darkness of his apartment, hoping for something—anything—that would give him a reason to keep moving forward.
