Chapter 6 - CHAPTER 6: MOTHER

Waking up, Killian's gaze fell upon a sea of grey. Yet, something was off. His eyes seemed soulless, as if he were a lifeless corpse. Deep within his eyes, a faint light flickered, transforming from white to black. With each heartbeat, veins pulsed with color, and Killian felt an uncanny connection to his surroundings. He sensed sound waves and frequencies, perceiving the world like a bat. Scents took on colors, and his instincts sharpened, reminiscent of a dog's keen senses. However, Killian knew his abilities far surpassed those of any canine.

His system boasted an extraordinary capability: [for each skill he copied, it becomes 3 times stronger]. Rising from his position, Killian came face-to-face with Titan, who lay sleeping beside him. The exhausted dog had barked for an extended period, eventually succumbing to slumber. Killian gently brushed Titan's head before exiting the playroom.

Despite the mansion's grandeur, an eerie loneliness pervaded the atmosphere. Only housekeepers and servants were in sight. As Killian wandered, he stumbled upon a room with an imposing door. Upon opening it, he found a stunning woman with dark brown hair, perfectly complementing her brown eyes. She wore a elegant black gown, its hem touching the floor, giving her an regal appearance. Seated at her desk, she worked on a project, wearing glasses and holding a pen.

As she caught sight of Killian, a faint smile crept onto her face. "Come here," she said, extending her arm in a warm gesture. Killian approached, and she enveloped him in a tender embrace. Overwhelmed, Killian felt an unfamiliar sensation, one he had never experienced in his past life. Not even his own mother had shown him such affection.

As he hugged her back, the woman spoke, "Killian, I need to tell you something." However, Killian held on, cherishing the warmth of her embrace. "I'm going to a business meeting in a couple of days," she continued. Before she could finish, Killian asked anxiously, "How long will you be gone?"

"A month," she replied. A wave of relief washed over Killian, but the thought of being separated from his new mother, even for a short time, was almost too much to bear. "It's only a month," he whispered, his voice barely audible.
