Chapter 7: Sophia's Confusion
Sophia couldn't shake off the feeling that she was getting in over her head. She had only known Max for a short time, and yet she felt a connection with him that she couldn't ignore.
As she went about her day, Sophia found herself thinking about Max more and more. She wondered what he was doing, and whether he was thinking about her too.
But despite her growing feelings for Max, Sophia couldn't shake off the feeling of confusion. She was still trying to process her father's ultimatum, and she wasn't sure if she was ready to commit to anyone.
As she walked home from work, Sophia decided to call her best friend, Emily, and see if she could offer any advice.
"Hey, girl," Emily said, answering on the first ring. "What's going on?"
Sophia took a deep breath and filled Emily in on everything that had happened with Max. Emily listened attentively, asking questions and offering words of encouragement.
When Sophia finished talking, Emily was silent for a moment. "Sophia, you need to take a step back and think about what you really want," she said finally. "You can't let your father's ultimatum dictate your life. You need to follow your heart and do what makes you happy."
Sophia nodded, feeling a sense of resolve. She knew that Emily was right. She needed to take a step back and think about what she really wanted.
As she hung up the phone with Emily, Sophia felt a sense of clarity that she hadn't felt in a long time. She knew that she still had a lot to think about, but she was ready to take the first step towards figuring out what she really wanted.
Over the next few days, Sophia found herself thinking about Max more and more. She wondered what he was doing, and whether he was thinking about her too.
She tried to push the thoughts aside, focusing on her work and her friends. But she couldn't shake off the feeling that she was meant to be with Max.
One evening, as Sophia was walking home from work, she ran into Max on the street. He was smiling at her, his eyes crinkling at the corners.
"Hey," Max said, falling into step beside Sophia. "I was just thinking about you."
Sophia's heart skipped a beat as she smiled up at Max. "I was just thinking about you too," she said.
Max raised an eyebrow, a sly grin spreading across his face. "Really?" he said.
Sophia nodded, feeling a sense of excitement. "Really," she said.
As they walked together, Sophia felt a sense of ease with Max that she couldn't ignore. She knew that she still had a lot to think about, but she was ready to take a chance on Max.
