Chereads / Why should I save the world / Chapter 2 - A deal

Chapter 2 - A deal

100 days have passed since his rebirth. No, calling it a rebirth is wrong, it's more like he regressed to when he was born.

Stark could now move his body around, and he had no choice but to accept the truth unfolding before him.

He had been reborn after his death. There was no other explanation. And there was no way he could explain it to others, as he could barely form any words.

'And even if I tell people after I become 5 years old, no one would believe that I have 50 years' worth of memories in my head.'

They would just dismiss it as a child's joke or delusion.

If he were to mention the detailed history or secrets of the family, then some people could potentially believe him. However, the chances of him being treated as a possessed child were extremely high.

Therefore, Stark was once again destined to live as the youngest son of the dreadful Okanshield Clan.

Most people living in the world would consider being born as the Okanshield youngest an extraordinary blessing.

However, Stark was at a loss.

'I would've preferred being reborn in an ordinary family.'

In that scenario, it wouldn't have taken him 100 days to accept the truth about his situation.

He was reborn in the same family, as the same child, on the same day as his past life. In other words, he was most likely gifted with the same talents as his previous life.

But will he tread the same path? Will he face the scorn and contempt of his family all over again?

'Never! I'll never live that kinda of life again!'

To be looked down upon and repeat his life as a failure, Stark swore to himself not to let that happen.

'I wonder if the curse that teacher dispelled is already cast on me yet.'

His eyes flashed in cold light. Whoever cast the curse on him caused him to live in misery.

'you better wish I don't find you because I'll definitely make you regret it deeply.'

"Oh my, what an intense killing intent for a baby!"

He froze for a moment at the unexpected woman's voice. His head snapped around, searching for the source of the voice, but found no one in the room.

'was I hallucinating?'

Seeing no one, he started doubting himself.

"I'm up here!"

Stark lifted his head, only to see a woman materialize in front of him…no, calling her a woman was wrong as she was the size of a fairy and was floating in front of his face.

She had blackish purple hair, piercing golden eagle-like eyes, and a beauty mark under her chin, but the most notable part of her body was the imposing two horns from her forehead running through her hair.

"Who are you?" Stark demanded, his voice coming out sharper than he intended. It felt strange to speak with such authority as a baby, but the situation called for it.

The tiny woman chuckled, her melodious laughter echoing unnaturally in the quiet room. She clapped her tiny hands mockingly. "Oh, feisty! I like that." She hovered closer, her eyes narrowing. "But is that the attitude you should have when facing your savior."

Stark stiffened. This horned, fairy-like midget just claimed to be the one behind his rebirth which shocked him.

"What! I'm still waiting for the magic words?!"

Stark lips twitched from her tone, but if what the woman said was true, then she was a being he couldn't afford to offend right now.

"Sorry… and thank you for saving me!"

"Oh my! I just received An apology and gratitude from a baby, should I feel honored." A teasing grin

Stark wanted to sigh at the absurd situation. Even though he knew that the powerful beings in this world developed a rather ecerreantic personality, this was the first time he came face to face with one. But he knew he couldn't show any disrespect in front of her, no matter how much her mighty image dropped in his mind.

"How should I call you, oh estimate being."

She frowned. "So formal. Well, that's expected from the lesser, but you can talk casually with me since we might have a deal."

A fair deal with such a powerful being would only mean being used by her until his purpose is fulfilled before being discarded.

Nothing about this sounded good. "I'm not interested," he said flatly.

She laughed again, a sound that sent a chill down his spine. "You haven't even heard it yet, darling. Don't be so quick to dismiss me. After all, I'm offering you something you desperately want."

"And what's that?" he asked warily.

Her grin widened, revealing sharp teeth. "Don't you want to dispel the curse that binds you?"

Stark's breath hitched. The temptation was immediate and overwhelming, but he forced himself to remain calm. "And what do you want in return?"

Her golden eyes gleamed with a dangerous light. "Ah, smart boy. Yes, there's always a price, isn't there? But my terms are simple. You'll owe me a favor—a big one. I won't tell you when or what it is right now, but when the time comes, you'll fulfill it. No questions, no hesitation."

Stark clenched his tiny fists. "Why should I trust you?"

She shrugged nonchalantly. "You shouldn't. But you're in no position to refuse, are you? You've been given a second chance, Stark, but without my help, you're doomed to repeat your pathetic life. Do you want that?"

He stared at her, his mind racing. This was a deal with the devil—or something close to it. But the thought of enduring the same humiliation and despair again was unbearable.

"I need time to think," he said cautiously.

She raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. "How very mortal of you. Fine, I'll give you time. But don't take too long, little Stark. My patience is not infinite."

With that, she dissolved into a swirl of black and purple smoke, leaving only her voice lingering in the air.

"The name is Hel. Feel honored to know my name. Call me when you've made your decision. I'll be watching.

And then she was gone, leaving Stark frozen.

"Hel? Is she that Hel?!!"
