Chapter 2 - My parents are dead and my Uncle's family suck..

"I have never suffered such humiliation before, if it hadn't been for Claire, I wondered what else that wench might have done behind my back."

Estella kept her mouth shut and her breathing low. Closing her mouth at the sudden loud entrance of her Uncle and Aunt into the room. She held the papers close to her chest, afraid that if she had made a sound, they would figure out where she was or even worse...not let her wander off alone anymore.

"I'm not surprised, she is that lowly woman's child. Her mother's cunning ways using the beauty she had, to think her child would be doing the same. I told you that Elaine had been right all along, that poor girl she must have been so distraught.."

She could hear Uncle sigh in anger and soon, the two footsteps echoed out the room, followed by the clicking of the door lock as they left the office. She closed her eyes, before releasing all tension through a harsh chesty breath.

"Why am I fucking sneaking around to steal some goddamn papers, around some ungrateful snobs? In technicality is my money, and I am still the sole heir," Estella stood up clutching the writing papers close to her chest.

For a gentry family, the audacity of Estella's mother's brother to use her parents' money as they pleased to pay for their parties. Estella had decided that they were full of shit from the get-go. Not only were they trying for the inheritance her dead parents left behind but they were colluding with other relatives in 'goodwill' to help Estella keep her 'inheritance safe'.

If she was any other child it would be easy, but Estella is an law-abiding citizen and knew her rights, especially as a member of an Earl's family, even if her father's dead. Estella had a time in her previous life where she deep dived into Victorian History due to a couple dozen manhuas, but that is a story for another time. In this world, she read what she could find in her father's personal library, and found out that this world had magic. More importantly, she has magic.

Finding a scroll, with weird letterings Estella, recited the words out loud, and felt something in her shift.

"gniK ym rof kees I rof, aelp ym ot netsiL" Estella muttered softly, almost afraid not knowing if it is going to work. The diagram drawn on the sheet of stolen paper glowed golden, and suddenly a face was seen, it was a man wearing a crown on his head.

"Hello there, Sir." Estella waved, and smiled brightly. The man seemed to hold a sense of poise and rationality, before raising a brow in confusion, but then quickly smiled back.

"Hello there young child, how did you activate the magic circle? Who is there with you?"

A round of muffled child-like giggle erupted from the magic circle as the child in the transmission scroll suddenly started to whisper.

"Mister Sir, I'm alone but don't tell anyone... I found a secret compartment, when I followed a string of blue glowing circles." the child said excitedly in a whisper.

"And then I found this small book and there were many different shapes and circles, with random words and I said it out loud and suddenly poof, you appeared hehe.." she said, flailing her arms around, flipping through the book to show its contents.

His Majesty, King Alexander was in a meeting discussing a matter when suddenly, the emergency orb at the round table glowed as someone tried to contact them. The High Court Mage slowly tried to track the location of the transmission stating that it pointed at the Sterling's household. Looking at the empty seat beside his, Alexander decided to answer the call only to be met with a face of a small young girl not any older than the age of ten.

"Chatty little one, is your father Earl Evan Sterling?" asked King Alexander and the child nodded, and blinked innocently.

"Mister, are you father's fr-wiend?" The child muttered cutely, trying to curl her 'r's. Alexander smiled and nodded.

"I want to meet your Mister, you are handsome just like father," she continued, but Alexander's smile widened and swiftly offered an invitation for her to come over.

"Mister I have to go, my uncle and aunty are coming! Goodbye~" the call ended abruptly.

"Your Majesty, don't you think it is a little abrupt for you to invite her over?..." a lone voice uttered and the whole room kept silence and High Court Mage answered,

"The book she showed was empty, how did she.."

"She lied, Edmund. The child just wanted to be invited. Only those who draw the magic circles can activate it, and you know this. What child is able to draw a complicated magic circle to the Round Table if she is not but a prodigy. Now, let us proceed to welcome this child."
