Chapter 1 - Light And Dark

The sound of wood being struck echoed through a small village, where a girl with dark brown hair walked along the path. "Lucian! Where did you go?" she yelled, her blue eyes dimming as she realized he was nowhere to be found.

"Hey!" a voice called from one of the rooftops. A man in a gray tunic and brown pants stood there, holding a wooden plank. "I think I saw Lucian head into the forest that way," he said, pointing to the left, where the trees loomed thick and green.

The girl's eyes lit up with hope as she dashed in the direction the man indicated. "Lucian!" she called out again.

The scene shifted to a teenage boy with no shirt, his lean abs visible as he wore long black trousers and shoes. Lucian heard his name being called from behind him. "Oh, hey, Mia!" he said, turning around and hastily putting on a white cotton Pagan tunic.

Mia leaned against a tree, her expression a mix of annoyance and concern. "Do you know what time it is?" she asked.

"Uh, no," Lucian replied, confused.

Mia rushed up to him and punched him hard on the head. "You missed your damn grimoire ceremony!" she yelled.

"Ahhhh!" Lucian exclaimed, rushing to put on his shirt before sprinting out of the forest.

The scene shifted to a towering structure where people were exiting with new grimoires in hand. Some had holsters for their grimoires, which were securely fastened. As Lucian ran past them, a cloud of dust kicked up behind him.

An old man with a bald head and an extremely long beard, dressed in brown robes and a wizard's hat, walked with a cane. Lucian skidded to a stop behind him.

"You're extremely late, Lucian," the old man sighed.

Out of breath, Lucian gasped, "Can't I still get my grimoire?"

The old man sighed again, this time with annoyance. "Fine. Just know I'll be looking to collect a favor soon." He took out his grimoire and flipped through the pages until he stopped on a specific one. Waving his hand over the page, he took a deep breath, and all the grimoires on the shelves began to glow with different colors. Two grimoires flew off the shelves and hovered in front of Lucian—one with four leaves and the other with three.

"Well, that's odd," the old man remarked. "Two grimoires? That's extremely unusual."

Lucian grabbed the two grimoires from the air just as the old man gripped his arm and pulled him out of the tower.

"Hey, wrinkles, where are we going?" Lucian asked, fear creeping into his voice as the old man tightened his grip. They stopped in front of a small church.

"Hey, Father James! Get out here!" the old man called, knocking on the large wooden doors.

The doors swung open to reveal a tall man with medium-length brown hair and a short brown beard, dressed in a traditional priest's uniform with a golden cross necklace. "What do you want, Albert?" the man asked.

"We need to come in," Albert replied, still holding onto Lucian.

The scene shifted to a dining table laden with luxurious dishes. A woman in a simple white dress, adorned with golden jewelry, sat there, her long curly blonde hair framing her face as she read through multiple papers. "The fall of the Great Clover Kingdom is near," she said before taking an aggressive bite of her food.

Inside the church, Father James examined both grimoires. "You were right; these grimoires are strange," he said. "This has never happened before."

"What do we do?" Albert asked in a panic.

"Choose one," James replied. "These grimoires seem to represent light and dark magic. Decide which one you will primarily use and keep the other safe for special occasions. So, which one will you choose, Lucian?"

Lucian looked at both grimoires and chose the dark magic one. James handed it to him. "Well, if you have a grimoire, you'll need one of these," he said, pulling out a grimoire holster.

Lucian's eyes lit up. "Thank you, Father James!" he exclaimed, excitement bubbling over as he ran out of the church. He stopped just outside, raising his grimoire in the air and gazing at it in awe.

"Hey, Lucian! Is that your grimoire?" a voice called out.

Lucian lowered the grimoire and saw Mia standing in front of him. "Uhm, yeah! Isn't it cool?" he replied.

"Are you going to become a magic knight?" Mia asked.

Lucian flexed his muscles playfully.
