Chapter 1 - chapter 1-Rude disturbance

yawn*

I was feeling rather sleepy-the last couple of sleepless nights of bingeing had caught up with me -I didn't have the energy to stave the off sleep, my eyes were heavy, threatening to fall shut at any waking moment. I felt niffed that this bout of sleepiness had stuck at the least opportune of times, right smack-dab during class hours, the sleep-inducing incomprehensible lecturing of the teacher did not help my case.

Knowing that it will be an issue if I were to fall asleep, I decided to find ways to stay awake, such as scanning my exit which in about 3 hours I can finally use, to escape into my crappy rat-infested hostel room.

Honestly, it can be said I lived in a prison, thinking back on it I should have been more inquisitive about my future living space for three years, it has been a year already…it absolutely sucks.

It's a fate, I won't wish upon anybody except ugly bastards…maybe? at least I hope, as I don't want my loved ones to be stuck in a hellhole like mine.

Anyhow, I hope for them, that they will live happy lives that's the only think I could wish for them as I am stranded with nowhere to call home, hopeless and despondent …I miss them.

But hey, the good news is that my family will be settling in India in a month, possibly ending my year of loneliness. Banzai!

As I rejoiced with glee, at the thought of finally reuniting with my family, since I met them, half a year ago when they visited for winter vacation, I could finally return home for a brief period. that was the best time of my life in India, I hated living in India and my hostel mostly due to the availability of my favorite snacks. Being the natural introvert that I am, I didn't care about anything else, but since I was lazy, I didn't like going out unless necessary so I didn't even go out for snacks mostly because of the explosive quality of the snacks…God save the toilet.

Anyhow, I was lingering on the thought of covertly falling into slumber-when it happened-numerous devasting explosions sounded at a distance.

befuddled screams of the by-standers erupted from all over the campus. that was rather alarming, my classmates scrambled to the windows seeking explanations for such a rude disturbance.

While I had remained firmly seated at my desk, clenching my fast-beating heart, the suddenness of the incident had thrown me off my pace.

I was always frightened of sudden noises, I would freeze up like a cat whose tail was stepped on, whenever I was caught off guard.

This time was no exception but for a purely different reason; hovering right in my field of vision was a rather simple holographic screen which I found out when my hand effortlessly passed through.

The screen had only few lines of note, the contents of which had me thoroughly baffled.

It went like this

--------end of entry--------

As I stared blankly at the brief but mind-boggling contents of the holographic screen-wait no-system. while I was contemplating my attention was pulled away by a shrill scream of a classmate.

I waved away the screen and focused on the source of the commotion, it was then I noticed a rather unassuming little green munchkin of knee-length.

The little green creature was adorable, it had plump squishable cheeks, sinister bloodthirsty eyes, blood drenched torn rags, sharp, pointy claws dripping with fresh blood, well on second thought instead of adorable, it would be accurately described as a killing machine-only I thought it was adorable.

Everyone was scared shitless, but for me though; It was too cute.

I mean, we were normal kids that had never seen such a grotesque scene except maybe in fiction.

The blood drenched doll-faced killing machine placed its malice filled eyes at us as it scanned our class as if filled with precious delicacies-as if we were its food, a buffet of all you can eat.

It was then without warning, it moved swiftly covering ground; a puzzling sight with its short stature, it leapt at some boys in front of the class.

One of the boys reacted swiftly, holding his school bag next to his chest as to guard the fast-approaching blade thrown by the goblin midleap, miraculously the bag stopped the momentum of the blade probably due to the book and items taking the brunt, causing my classmate's chair to tumble to ground.

Then another classmate of mine hit the creature, backwards with a huge swing from his hefty arms with his bag ,while it was in the air causing it fly to center two rows next to me, crashlanding.

I came into a realization at that moment that I was cooked if I do nothing. So, with adrenaline coursing through my veins. I grabbed a vacant chair within my reach and threw with all my strength.

As it collided with the green creature it sends the creature flying again this time impacting the wall.

It appeared that it fallen unconscious due to the impact.

my classmates who all were now moving far away from creature told me not to go near.

"Yo! dude stay away from that thing. who knows what else it would do" "yeah, ren be careful...".

Ignoring them, I checked my status trying to calm down.

reading through it. I quickly fixated at the skill section particularly at {inventory}.

I decided to check it out. Opening the tab with a mental command 'open {inventory}'

the static system finally began changing to a different screen this time filled with something like slots.

there were 50 such slots.

What was curious was the fact that a few slots were in use.

browsing through the screen, I realized that it contained essentials like food, water, toiletries, and most importantly, a well-crafted blade and a bronze swashbuckler.

I tried plunging my hand in to withdraw the blade, causing my hand to disappear into the abyss until I felt a cold, unfeeling piece of metal and wood.

Finally, as I grabbed it and abruptly withdrew my hand from the abyss as it was threatening to swallow me whole, if I lingered too long possibly.

The blade rested in my dominant right hand. I glanced back at the unconscious adorable green creature and pondered…what if?

So, with the blade in hand as I calmly walked to the creature with slow deliberate steps-background noises chirping at me-the world and its noise faded, leaving me and the cretin that gazed at me as prey. as food to be played with and discarded.

As I had reached the little thing, lying flat on its belly, I kicked it upright and kneeled next to its side, finally noticing the deep heavy breaths I was taking as I gazed upon my reflection on a window at the end of the class, on my face was a look of trepidation and wariness, as beads of sweat down my face. It was warm yet cold.

I knew that if I did this there will be no turning back, that I will never be normal again.

but who wants to be normal, not me, I like excitement which was I hated my boring, mundane yet challenging life.

Deciding it was about time, I raised my blade high, little above the shoulder and with all my strength plunged my blade into its stubby throat, repeatedly.

the creature awoke too late only able to struggle weakly, its strength receding with each relentless stab of mine, until the life itself faded from its eyes, the creature's body falling limb.

For several moments, I stared at my handiwork, until I accepted the utter apathy I had for the green cretin as its blue blood flowed almost endlessly from its wounds, "ugh, I am all bloody…This stinks!".
