Chapter 60 - 58: easy genin exam

The sun shone brightly over the Hidden Leaf Village as Shiro made his way to the ninja academy building. His steps were steady, his eyes scanning the bustling streets of the village. Merchants called out to passersby, children played tag, and shinobi of all ranks went about their duties. Yet, Shiro's mind was focused on one goal—earning his place as a genin.

It was unusual for someone to be sent by the Hokage directly for a genin test, but Shiro wasn't an ordinary candidate. His Sharingan, although not fully matured, had given him an edge that most academy students didn't have. He wasn't here to train with others his age. This was a test to determine if his unique talents were enough to skip the usual years of academy training.

The academy loomed ahead, its traditional wooden architecture standing proudly amidst the surrounding buildings. Shiro paused for a moment at the entrance, taking a deep breath before stepping inside. The hallways were eerily quiet, the only sound being the faint echo of his footsteps against the wooden floors.

Shiro approached the front desk, where an assistant sat, flipping through some scrolls. She glanced up at him, her expression a mix of curiosity and professionalism.

"Can I help you?" she asked.

"I'm here for the genin test," Shiro said, his voice calm but determined. "The Hokage sent me."

The assistant raised an eyebrow but didn't question him further. She nodded, pointing towards the courtyard.

"Head outside. The instructor is waiting for you there."

Shiro gave a small bow in gratitude and made his way out to the courtyard. The open space was bathed in sunlight, surrounded by tall trees that swayed gently in the breeze. Standing in the center was a middle-aged instructor with a stern demeanor. His flak jacket was slightly worn, a testament to years of experience in the field.

"So, you're the one sent by the Hokage," the instructor said, his eyes scanning Shiro from head to toe.

Shiro nodded. "Yes."

The instructor crossed his arms, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. "Alright then. To become a genin, you'll need to demonstrate three basic jutsu. These are the foundation of all shinobi techniques. They are the Body Replacement Technique, the Clone Technique, and the Transformation Technique. Think you can handle it?"

Shiro's eyes narrowed slightly. "Show me."

The instructor chuckled. "Confident, aren't you? Watch closely, then."

With a series of fluid hand seals, the instructor demonstrated each technique. First, he swapped places with a nearby log using the Body Replacement Technique. Next, he created two clones of himself with the Clone Technique. Finally, he transformed into a perfect replica of Shiro, earning a slight look of surprise from the boy.

"Your turn," the instructor said, his voice firm.

Shiro activated his Sharingan, the crimson eyes spinning to life. The instructor's movements slowed in his vision, every hand seal etched into his memory with perfect clarity.

Without hesitation, Shiro formed the seals for the Body Replacement Technique. In an instant, he vanished, replaced by a nearby log. He reappeared a few meters away, his Sharingan glowing faintly.

"Impressive," the instructor muttered. "But that's the easiest one. Let's see the next."

Instead of performing the standard Clone Technique, Shiro opted for something more advanced. He formed the seals and, with a burst of chakra, created a Shadow Clone. The instructor's eyes widened slightly.

"That's a jonin-level technique," he said, his tone laced with surprise. "You've been practicing more than just the basics."

Shiro smirked but didn't respond. He moved on to the Transformation Technique, his hands forming the seals with precision. In a puff of smoke, Shiro's appearance changed, and he became an exact replica of the instructor. The transformation was flawless, down to the smallest detail.

The instructor clapped his hands slowly. "Well done. You've exceeded my expectations. Here."

He reached into his pouch and pulled out a headband with the symbol of the Hidden Leaf engraved on it. Holding it out to Shiro, he said, "Congratulations. You're officially a genin."

Shiro took the headband, his fingers brushing over the cool metal. He tied it around his forehead, the weight of it symbolic of his new status.

"Thank you," he said, bowing slightly.

The instructor watched as Shiro turned to leave. "You're talented, but don't let it go to your head," he called out. "Being a genin is just the first step. The real challenges are yet to come."

Shiro nodded, his expression serious. He knew the instructor was right.

---

Shiro wandered through the village, the headband glinting in the sunlight. He felt a sense of accomplishment but knew he couldn't let himself grow complacent. There was still much to learn, and the world of shinobi was as dangerous as it was rewarding.

As he passed by a group of academy students practicing their jutsu, he couldn't help but feel a pang of nostalgia. He hadn't spent years in the academy like they did, but he understood their struggles.

He decided to visit the Hokage to report his success. Making his way to the Hokage's office, Shiro climbed the stairs to the top floor of the building. The guards let him pass, recognizing the boy who had been personally sent for the test.

Inside, the Third Hokage sat at his desk, a kind yet wise smile on his face as he greeted Shiro.

"Ah, Shiro. I take it the test went well?"

Shiro nodded, bowing respectfully. "Yes, Lord Hokage. I passed."

The Hokage's eyes twinkled with approval. "Good. I expected nothing less. But remember, the life of a shinobi is not an easy one. You've taken the first step, but your journey will be long and arduous."

"I understand," Shiro replied.

"Good. I'll assign you to a team soon. For now, take the rest of the day to rest and prepare yourself."

Shiro bowed once more before leaving the building.

As Shiro walked through the village, he couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching him. He glanced over his shoulder but saw no one. Shrugging it off, he continued on his way, deciding to stop by a ramen shop for a quick meal.

While eating, he noticed a group of jonin gathered at a nearby table, discussing recent missions. Their conversation caught his attention, particularly when they mentioned increased activity of the hidden cloud village .

"Trouble brewing?" Shiro muttered to himself.

Finishing his meal, he left the shop and made his way home. The day had been eventful, and he needed to rest.

As Shiro lay in bed that night, his thoughts drifted to the future. He had achieved the goal of becoming a genin, but he knew the road ahead would be filled with danger and challenges.

His Sharingan was his greatest asset, but it was also a reminder of the power he needed to master. He clenched his fists, determination burning in his eyes.

"I won't let anyone hold me back," he vowed silently.
