Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 The Gate Opens

Chapter 4: The Gate Opens

The moment has arrived. The Tower's first phase is set into motion, and the gates are about to open for humanity. A mixture of excitement and fear fills the air, the weight of what lies ahead pressing down on everyone. People have heard the whispers of power, of transformation, of new abilities awaiting them at the top. But there's a catch: the Tower is not a place for the faint of heart.

The rules are clear: each person can only enter the Tower once. The higher they climb, the greater the potential rewards—but also the greater the risks. Those who venture inside will face trials, monsters, and environments designed to challenge them beyond their limits. The greater the challenge, the higher the chance of acquiring abilities of a higher rank. But there's a price to pay.

When a player dies inside the Tower, they will be expelled from it, but their time inside will not be for naught. Their memories will remain intact, and the floor they reached in their journey will determine the rank of the abilities they can awaken when they return to Earth. Whether they survive the Tower's trials or not, they will gain powers linked to their progress, a mark of the struggles they faced. The further they ascend, the greater the chances of unlocking higher-tier abilities. But death, while a setback, will not rob them of their chance for awakening.

I stand before the gates of the Tower, watching as the first wave of players begins to gather. This is the moment where they will begin their climb, their journey into the unknown. But there's something more I must do first.

I've written a manual—a guide to the Tower, one that will help the most strategic players navigate its dangers. The manual contains critical information: the layout of the Tower, the best ways to climb, and the steps to reach the highest floor. Those who study it carefully will have a better chance of surviving the challenges within. It's a road map, but it requires discipline and patience to follow.

But there's something even more important hidden within the manual. The last page contains the secret to the Tower's greatest mystery—the key to reaching the highest floor. The information there is crucial, and only those who follow it carefully will have the chance to unlock the highest abilities, powers that could reshape humanity's future.

However, there's only one person I trust enough to give this manual to.

I turn to Isabel, my sister. She's the one who will need this the most.

I walk over to her, my heart heavy with the weight of what I'm about to do. There's no one else who can know about this. The manual is too important to fall into the wrong hands, and I can't risk it being used by someone who doesn't understand the true significance of what lies within it.

"Here," I say, handing her the manual. "This is for you. You'll need it when you enter the Tower."

Isabel looks at me, her expression unreadable. She's no stranger to the way I think, but even she can't possibly know the full extent of what I've planned. She takes the manual carefully, her fingers brushing against the cover. There's a pause as she processes the weight of what I've just handed her. I can see the questions in her eyes, the curiosity and suspicion.

"You're really giving me this?" she asks, her voice quiet but firm. "Why just me?"

I sigh, knowing that I can't reveal everything—not yet. "You're my sister," I say simply. "You're the only one I trust with this."

Isabel doesn't ask any more questions for the moment. She can sense that there's more to this than I'm letting on, but she respects my decision. She knows I won't give her something unless it's absolutely necessary.

"I don't know if I should trust this," she murmurs, though she's already flipping through the pages. "But I'll follow the instructions. I'm not going to waste the opportunity."

I nod, relieved that she understands. But I also know that this is just the beginning. Isabel is strong, but the Tower will test her more than she can imagine. I can only hope that she's ready.

She glances up from the manual, her gaze meeting mine with a hint of understanding. "You're not telling me everything, are you?"

I smile faintly. "Some things are better left unsaid. Trust me, Isabel. The Tower will show you everything in time."

She holds the manual a little tighter, her resolve strengthening. "I will. But don't think this is the last time I ask you about all this. I'll find out everything eventually."

I smile back, knowing she's not one to let things go. "That's your choice. Just remember, everything you need is in that manual. Follow it, and you'll reach the highest floor."

With that, I step back, watching as Isabel flips through the pages of the manual, her mind already racing ahead, no doubt planning her strategy.

The first wave of players begins to enter the Tower, the gates opening wide as they take their first steps into the unknown. They are filled with ambition, their hearts beating faster as they think of the abilities they might awaken, the powers they could claim. But they don't know the full scope of the challenge ahead. The Tower will test them in ways they can't even imagine.

As I watch Isabel approach the Tower, I know that her journey will be far different from the others. She has a key to a future that few can even comprehend.

The real challenge has only just begun.
