A man laying on a sofa inside a dojo could be seen flipping through the pages of the magazine he was reading. Taking a sip of the drink resting on his chest with a straw in it, he couldn't help but let out a sigh of delight.
This is life. The man thought to himself as he continued reading. Everything was going well for him, he owned a Dojo with 14 students, essentially regarded as the protectors of their little Verda Island. Everyone respected and praised him. And he's rich!
He was at peace.
"Kearen-Sensei! Big problem!" 2 boys barged into the room he was lounging in before tripping on their feet.
"Haa, What now brats?" The man, or Kearen, sighed as he sat up and looked at the boys glaring at each other, before snapping out of it.
"Ah, right! Kara ran to the shore because she heard pirates were spotted!"
"Yeah, yeah! She thought she could handle it because it's a small boat with only a few people."
Kearen stared wordlessly at the two boys, who couldn't help but sweat at their teacher's gaze. The next thing they knew, they were nursing their heads as a bump appeared.
"OW! You bastard of a sensei, why did you hit us?!" The blonde haired boy yelled, with slight tears prickling the corner of his eyes.
"I get Luka and Kara, but why me as well, Sensei?" The brown haired boy muttered as he got up slowly.
"Why not just Riven?" Luka mockingly grinned.
The blonde haired boy's name is Luka, while the brown haired one is Riven, both seemingly around the age of 14.2 boys have had a rivalry with one another for the past year. At first, it started in terms of fighting, but it quickly escalated, and now they competed in everything.
Said teacher merely rolled his eyes and started walking off, with the two students following behind, glaring at each other. As they entered the forest and followed the path to the pirates, he asked the two a question;
"Did you get to see the pirate flag?"
"Yeah, it was the usual, but it had a straw hat on it."
Hearing Luka's response caused Kieran to pause slightly, a grin appearing on his face, which then turned into a frown. Seeing his reaction, Riven narrowed his eyes at the older male.
"You know who they are?"
"Perhaps."
"...And?"
"And what?"
""TELL US WHO IT IS!"" Both boys yelled angrily at the teacher, who had his head tilted in confusion.
"You shouldn't shout at your teacher." Kieran reprimanded with a stern look as the two face faulted.

"I'm hungry." Whined a boy with a straw hat.
"WE KNOW!" Three others shouted at the boy before sighing.
"Luffy, we're almost there, then you can eat." An attractive girl with orange hair told him as he rolled up the map in her hands.
"Why is the walk to the village so long anyway?" A long nosed boy with goggles asked as he panted slightly.
"Yeah, you sure we're going the right way, Nami?" A green haired man with 3 Katanas on his hip questioned as well.
"Yes we are, look—"
"I honestly expected more of you." An unknown voice interrupted Nami, as all but Luffy and Zoro tense at the sight of a teenage girl appearing from nowhere.
"I'll give you pirates one chance to turn back. One. After that, I'm not so merciful." She smirked at them condescendingly.
"You don't have to worry. We're not here to cause any trouble, ahaha." Nami laughed slightly, but was internally nervous at how scary such a cute girl could seem.
"She means to get lost, brat. Go play dolls or whatever." The swordsman of the four said in a gruff tone, causing the navigator to slap his arm.
"Zoro!"
"Pfft, man, you pirates sure are arrogant. Well, if that's how you want it." Bringing out the long sword from her sheathe, she pointed at Zoro, who smirked in return.
"Well, if it's a swordfight you want, kid, then I'm more than happy to oblige." He took out a katana and didn't even take a stance.
"Z-Zoro, you're not gonna fight a little girl, are you— eek!" Usopp ducked down in fright as a knife went sailing past his head.
Looking back to see the knife embedded in a rock, he gulped before hiding behind his crew members.
"H-how dare you harm the great Usopp. I am Captain Usopp, with 8000 subordinates. Y-yield or die!"
"Die." The girl replied instantly, raising an eyebrow at the coward, causing him to squeak.
Nami, seeing this, couldn't help but sigh and constantly regret her decision to join them as a Navigator. It seems like no matter what, they'll always attract attention wherever they go.
"WAIT!" Luffy exclaimed, causing everyone to turn to him.
"Huh?"
"What is it?"
"I'm still hungry, can we do this later?" Luffy said
"No." The girl said instantly.
"Ehhh, but—"
"No. No. No. No"
Each and every time Luffy tried to say something or even just opening his mouth, her response was instantaneous and cold. Luffy couldn't help but sigh and melt to the ground, moaning in his puddle of sadness.
Sweatdropping at the display, Zoro turned to the girl;
"You're pretty good to take down my Captain like that."
"I've had a lot of experience with my teacher."
Zoro nodded in understanding, then raised his sword at her. "You ready."
"Hmph." She smirked before she started running at her opponent with more than average speed and swung her sword. However, she was easily blocked.
Jumping away, she reapproached him and swung her sword a few times before Zoro noticed an opening in her technique. Using his strength, he pushed her away and targeted her blind spot.
What he failed to notice, however, was the smirk that had yet to disappear from her face. As the katana inched closer to her, the girl let gravity take charge and fell on her left hand, using it to push herself off the ground and aim a kick at Zoro's chin.
Seeing this, Zoro paused his attack and retreated backwards, but couldn't help but widen his eyes slightly at the glint of metal at the bottom of his opponent's boot.
Tilting his head to the right, he dodged what he realised was a small knife that sprung out from her right shoe.
Jumping backwards, Zoro couldn't help but smirk at the girl, who readjusted herself.
"You're not half bad kid. Though that was risky of you, leaving yourself open on purpose. I will admit, the knife was smart."
At this point, the three of his crew were sitting down and invested in the fight. Even Luffy as he seemed to be cheering for his first mate. Though for an... intriguing reason.
"YOSH! ZORO, DEFEAT THAT WITCH AND SHOW HER THE IMPORTANCE OF MEAT!"
"Oi, Luffy! You can't call a little— Ahem, you can't call her a witch!" Usopp said as he also corrected himself.
"More importantly, WHERE DID YOU GET THAT MEAT FLAG?!" Nami shouted incredulously, pointing her finger at Luffy's precious meat flag.
"Right, I came up with the idea all by myself." The girl ignored them and responded to Zoro's statement with a huge smile on her face, and she crossed her arms.
It was clear she was brimming with pride at her surprise attack.
"Then I guess I better at least try a little."
"Huh?" The girl couldn't help but out dumbly.
"Wah!"
Within just 2 minutes, the teenager was on the floor and started crying, with tears leaking.
"N-no, don't cry! Ah, dammit! L-look, I'll get you a new one, alright!" Zoro shouted with an awkward look on his face as he wasn't sure what he should do.
"Zoro! How could you break her sword!" Nami shouted as she sat down and tried to console the weeping girl.
"You're a big meanie, Zoro." "More like a bully." Luffy and Usopp said with a disappointed look on their faces.
"How is this my fault?!" Zoro shouted as he gaped at his crewmembers in disbelief.
Was he really being blamed here when she initiated the fight?
"Now, what happened here? Who dares to make my cute student cry."
An unknown voice questioned as everyone looked to see a man covered by the shadows of the trees. They couldn't help but tense at the cold sharpness of his voice, and the experienced fighters noticed the subtle bloodlust leaking off of him.
Stepping out into the light was Kearen, wearing simple baggy trousers and a black T-shirt. Luffy couldn't help but let out a wide grin as he started waving excitedly at the man.
"Yo Kea—!"
The captain didn't even have the chance to call out to him properly as he was pushed to the ground by the girl. She immediately ran to her teacher and hugged him as he cried into his chest.
"H-he, sniff, broke my sword." She said and pointed at Zoro.
"So he did, did he? Don't worry, Kara, I'll get you a new one." Kearen said as he patted his student's head.
Letting go of her, the teacher started walking over to the green swordsman, who tensed and got ready to bring out his sword. Everyone was quiet as they stared carefully at the two, except for Luffy, who grumbled in annoyance, slowly getting up from the ground.
"You... are going to work me for one month to make up for that broken sword!"
"Haaa?!" Zoro couldn't help but let out as he almost tripped over his own feet. "Why do I have to work for you?"
"Because—" "KEAREN!"
Looking back, Kearen saw a blur approaching him and didn't seem like they would stop anytime soon. He couldn't help but stare dumbly at the familiar face before they wrapped their limbs around him.
Falling to the ground, he began to see two of everything for a few seconds before his vision was restored. His view of the blue sky was immediately covered by the face of his brother, Monkey D. Luffy, who grinned at him.
"Huh? Luffy? You know him?"
"Yeah! He's my brother!"
"BROTHER?!"
§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§
They were all currently seated back in Kearen's Dojo, all talking to one another while they were eating. Kara had already left to go buy herself a new sword or have one made by the blacksmith in the village. The most interesting thing going on was the race to see who could eat the most food between Luffy and Kearen.
"I'm going to win this time; I've been practising!" Luffy shouted with a full mouth.
"I haven't eaten all day, Ha!" Kearen laughed as he slurped his XXL ramen noodles in one go.
""Disgusting"" The only two females remarked with a disgusted expression
"Where does it all go?" Usopp whispered to Zoro.
"I stopped asking that question a long time ago." He responded before gulping down the sake bottle in his hand.
At that moment, Usopp knew he asked the wrong person.
"MM! *GULP*I WON!" Luffy exclaimed as he shot up. "Woooah!" Before falling back down, he was unable to hold himself up with his bloated body.
"NOOOOOOOOO!" Tears streamed down the other siblings' face as he continued to eat.
"They're definitely brothers." Everyone else stared with deadpan faces.
If he's Lufffy's brother, then there's no doubt he's strong. He owns this Dojo, right, is he a swordsman as well?
Zoro thought to himself, staring at the man who also seemed to like the finer drinks. But damn, does Luffy's brother have good taste in alcohol.
Such a handsome face wasted on an idiot like Luffy. Though... he is rich. Ehehehe.
Nami also stared at the man with money eyes. He's Luffy's brother, so no doubt he must be as gullible as him.
Luffy's brother must be strong if he's a teacher. Perhaps Captain Usopp can pass some of his wisdom from back in his teaching days. Huh. I-is he looking at me!
Usopp couldn't help but start sweating at the intense stare Kearen gave him as he started to inch closer.
"Sugoi! You got a really long nose. Is your name Pinocchio!"
Usopp's mind went blank for a second before realising he was being insulted. "I already told you my name! It's Usopp!"
"Relax, Udon, I was just kidding."
"It's Usopp!"
"Haha, you're as fun to tease as your father, you know that."
"Huh, you met my dad!"
"Uhuh, he's a great shot as well, almost as good as me."
"Eh, Kearen, you met his dad! Did you meet Shanks then!" Luffy turned his head to his brother, looking at him with sparkling eyes.
"Yeah, I did. But he's real strong, you know."
"You fought him?" Zoro asked as he was intrigued.
"Nah, but just being in his presence is enough to know. Plus, we partied all day!"
"Lucky! I wanna party! Oh yeah! Kearen, did you find it?" The Straw Hat boy asked his brother.
"Hm? Yep! Just like you, I'm a Devil Fruit user."
"Huh, so you ate one as well?" Usopp asked.
"Yep."
"...So?" Nami asked, waiting for him to elaborate.
"So what?"
"WHAT'S THE FRUIT?!" Everyone shouted at him, minus Luffy, who laughed.
"It's not good to shout at your host, show some respect," Kearen said with a stern face, causing all of them to still, and an apologetic expression made its way to their faces.
""Gomenasai.""
"Good."
"...So." Zoro asked after 30 seconds of silence.
"So?" Kearen tilted his head at them.
"WHAT'S THE FRUIT?!" They all shouted again at him with shark teeth, causing him to cover his ears.
The sound of a door being flung open directed everyone's attention to the two boys who walked in, panting with angry expressions. They were covered in mud, head to toe.
"Ah, Luka, Riven, where have you two been?" Keiran asked.
'"WHERE HAVE YOU?!"
"We spent the last hour trying to get out of that quicksand you left us in!"
"I'm sorry, I completely forgot your existences. It won't happen again... maybe."
"I'll kill you!"
§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§
"Nice to meet you!"
After getting themselves cleaned up, Luka and Riven introduced themselves to Luffy and his crew. Taking a seat at the table, they couldn't help but stare at their teacher's brother.
You can't blame them when they didn't even know he existed.
"Keiran, how come you got students?" Luffy asked curiously.
"Just happened in the moment." Keiran shrugged.
He wasn't lying; he found a few people training themselves all wrong, so he decided to give them pointers. One thing led to another, and he ended up living on this island for 2 years.
It's not like I regret it, though.
"So what about your dream?"
"Don't worry about it. I'll get back on track sooner or later."
"You have a dream? I can only imagine it's as big as being the King of Pirates." Zoro asked with an amused smile.
"Who wants to be the King of Pirates?!" The two students asked, and when Luffy put his hand up with a grin, they stared at him, stunned.
"Hehe, It's not as big, but my dream is to become the greatest Archer in the world. You can laugh all you want; don't really care."
"Heh, I'd have to be the biggest hypocrite to laugh at your dream."
"So you got an absurd one as well, I guess?" A smirk made its way onto Keiran's face, mirroring Zoro's smirk.
"World's Greatest Swordsman. You're looking at the future one."
"World's Greatest Archer, Swordsman, and the King of Pirates, all under one roof. Pfft AHAHA"
Zoro and Luffy laughed alongside Keiran, while the other 4 in the room could only stare, not knowing what to say.
"To boldly declare such things." Riven stared at them.
"And I thought Keiran-Sensei was the only crazy person in the world." Luka said.
"*Sigh* In a way, you could say their dreams are admirable... But being the idiots they are..."
"Nobody would have hope for them." Usopp finished off for her. "Well, that doesn't matter, with me along with my army of Sea King Slayers, there'd be nothing to worry about! I'll make sure their dreams come true!" He posed, one leg on the table, as three morons were clapping.
Them being Keiran, Luffy, and Riven.
"Woah! Do you really have an army of Sea King Slayers!" Riven asked like a naive boy looking up to his idol.
"He's lying." Luka said, giving a chop to Riven's head.
"You've got quite the crew, Luffy." Keiran turned to his brother, who happily drank juice.
"Yep! And you're my Nakama as well."
""Huh?""
Confusion ran out through the room as they all stared at Luffy, except for Keiran, who stared at his brother before sighing and pushing the Straw Hat on his head.
"Eh? Who turned off the lights?"
"Sorry, Luffy, not happening."
"You're not joining my crew?" Luffy asked as he fixed his hat.
"Yep."
"You're not joining my crew?"
"Yep."
"You're not joining my crew?"
"Yep."
"You're not joining my crew?"
"Yep."
"You're joining my crew?"
"Yep."
A few seconds passed as Keiran just realised what he had agreed to and stared at the sly brat. Luffy merely laughed and jumped in the air in happiness.
"Yosh! Another Nakama!"
"You tricked me! That doesn't count!" Keiran shouted at Luffy, pointing his finger at him like he was the Devil.
"It so does!"
"It doesn't!"
"It does! Blergh!"
Luffy shouted back and stuck his tongue out at his brother but then started screaming and struggling for air as Keiran started strangling him.
"Why you little...! I'll show you!"
"AGH! Zo-Zoro! Help! AHgh!"
"Sensei, he's right." Riven said with tears that would seem to pour out any second.
He and his rival stood up and walked over to their teacher. Surprised by his student's words, he dropped his brother and looked at them in confusion.
"You've always talked about your dream. But... But we're holding you back!" Luka shouted as his arrogant facade was nowhere to be seen.
No one said anything, not even Luffy, as they stared at the two. The atmosphere's playfulness suddenly disappeared, and it became heavy. Many thoughts went through the archer's head, but one important one stood out.
How long have they thought they were a burden to me?
"Sensei."
Kara's voice was heard as they looked to the door to see her. She had an indifferent expression, one that could be described as cold, but they could all see the storm of emotions in her eyes.
When she began to walk away, Keiran went to follow her along with everyone else. Entering the training grounds, he was confused to see all 14 of his students, some crying, some with stony expressions, but most of all, they bowed to him.
"""THANK YOU FOR EVERYHTING, KEIRAN-SENSEI!"""
"Everyone..."
It was obvious what was going on here and how stunned the teacher of the lot was.
"You've done a lot for us, sensei. But it's time for you to go and chase your dream." Kara went up to him and gave him a small box, with tears slowly leaking out. "It's from all of us."
Taking the box from her hands, he opens it to see a necklace with an arrowhead. Smiling at it sadly, he puts it on and looks at all of his students.
"Thank you, everyone. You've given me a lot, even if you don't think so."
"It was Luka's idea for the arrowhead." Riven said.
"Urasai!"
"Luffy... It seems like I'm gonna be joining your crew." Keiran stated with a smile as all of his students began to cry and started hugging him all at once.
Authors Note:
Been a real long time since I've written, and this wouldn't get out of my mind as I started watching One Piece and am on the Water 7 Arc.
I had no idea One Piece could be so sad and actually bring tears to my eyes. I just thought it was only a comedy anime full of adventures.
Anyway, this is an Archer One Piece Male OC, and don't worry, he won't be a simple archer with a few neat tricks, there will be a lot more as the story progresses.
I will add a few things in as to include Keiran and make him a part of the story and not just an extra that's just there with a bunch of bland interactions.
Hard to find good One Piece fanfics with Male OC; I could only find a few.
As for the love interest for Keiran, I hate Harem; it's gonna be one person.
Now, onto the important part, his devil fruit!
Tōtō no Mi:
This Fruit is recorded to give the user the ability to create Bow & Arrows out of thin air however, it requires the utmost concentration and focus. If one panics while creating an arrow, it could become dull, bent, etc. Years of training were said to be needed to create arrows like it's second nature. This Devil Fruit is considered to be one of the weakest because that's all that it is capable of.
However, Kearen took the next steps to evolve his abilities and make full use of them in every way he could. He began to experiment and see what further steps could be taken. For example, he's able to create arrows that, once they get in range of their intended target, the arrow would break apart into ropes that would tie the individual.
Or a grappling hook arrow.
There's much more I don't want to spoil, but I'll tell you that his arrows will have unique abilities in the future, so be prepared.
