Talent, what does it mean?
Is there a real definition for it? How do you know if you have it?
And how do you know if you are talented in this specific thing?
Have you tried everything and concluded that you are talented in this thing and not in anything else?
The answer is that you do not know, what makes one person excel at something and another not excel at the same thing.
All of these are things that have no real answer.
In the movie theater, Ben sat in the middle of the hall, where he always preferred to sit. "Excuse me, excuse me, sorry," said a person sitting in the row in front of him as he tried to pass people. For Ben, sitting in the movie theater had a special taste, watching people enjoying the movie together, laughing, crying, and getting scared without feeling embarrassed. At that moment, the movie started. The movie was about a mafia leader who was kidnapped by a group of aliens who taught them the style and manner of speaking of mafia leaders. It was a complete comedy movie that tried to combine science fiction and crime. "If the movie was written a little better, it would have been the best comedy movie of the year. Unfortunately, they relied on the fame of the actors and did not try to improve the script." Ben thought. Ben had what some call a sixth sense when it comes to movies or TV series, in addition to his knowledge of technical matters, which was his field of work. In his teens, he used to write movie reviews and information about them in an online blog. It was fun for him, but he never thought of entering this field as a participant in it. For him, sitting in a high tower and telling others where their mistakes were was the best thing. But on this day, it was different. "I want to become an actor." He said in a low voice. No one heard him say it except the girl sitting on his right side. The girl looked at him as he said it. She was a girl with ordinary appearance and clothes, short black hair and brown eyes covered by glasses. The girl gave him her card. "Here, take this." Ben looked at the girl, surprised by the matter. He did not realize that she had heard what he said.
"Excuse me?" "Don't you want to become an actress? Consider it a gift from fate." She said smiling at his reaction, her voice was soft and because of the noise in the hall after the movie ended it was barely audible and luckily Ben was sitting next to her and heard what she said. "I didn't understand, miss?" "My name is Elisa and I work in a talent company, this is my card and tomorrow there will be an acting test at the company to bring in talents, I hope you will be there." She got up from her chair "Excuse me" and started to leave the hall "Wait, what time is it?" She looked at him and said "Oh sorry, it's four in the afternoon on **** Street in the fourth building, you will find the place on the third floor." She smiled and left, she was feeling happy, not because she helped Ben with his dream but actually because she acted so well in front of a handsome guy, Elisa had gone on a blind date with a guy, they spent some time talking and he suggested that they watch a movie and when she entered the hall he told her that he would bring the popcorn but instead he left her and went, so when a handsome guy sat next to her she tried to talk to him but she didn't get the chance until the movie ended.
Ben sat on the chair for a while until the lights came on in the room, then he went out looking at the card that had the girl's name, the company she worked for, and her phone number on it. Ben wrote down the information she said on his personal phone and set an alarm for 3:30 tomorrow so he wouldn't forget the appointment.
The next day Ben was training in the morning and although he was trying to relax in the morning, the idea of entering acting was controlling his every thought.
It was a holiday and he had nothing to do at the time, so he decided to go to the library to buy a book about acting.
In the library, there was an old man sitting behind a desk reading a book and he seemed to be enjoying himself.
Ben was looking between the shelves of books trying to find any useful book but he couldn't so he went straight to the old man and asked,
"Excuse me, do you have a book about acting?"
For someone who was auditioning for acting in a few hours, it was not reasonable for him to look for a book that explained the basics of acting.
"Yes, we have six books available and there is a book about the history of silent films and also a biography of the star (***). Which one do you want?"
"I want the books on acting and the book on silent cinema,"
he said. He was not interested in the life of an actor but after a few moments he said,
"Give me the biography of the actor."
The old man thought that he was one of the fans of this actor who were obsessed with everything about him so he paid no attention to this man, he did not seem like a person who really loved cinema.
The old man started searching through the bookshelves, taking some out and putting others back.
Then he put the books on the desk and said,
"These books are worth fifty dollars. Do you want to return any of them?"
"No, they are all useful."
He took the books, which were heavy, so he carried them in a large bag. He took the books and left.
The actor's biography, for a book that tells the life of a person, it was not a big book
"How empty his life is so that he does not write much ha ha ha"
Ben mocked the book, he knew that it was a book written by a ghost writer and this book was made only to increase the fame of the actor, but Ben was interested in something else, which was to know how this person felt when he started his career.
"When I was waiting for my turn to act for the first time, I was hesitant, I said is there a need for me to enter this world?
I can live a normal life, I do not want fame, but at that moment I looked at the paper on which the script was written, I felt that this person is me, when I studied his character at home before the performance, I had created a character and a complete life, so I was not ready to let go of it yet, there was a fire inside me that wanted to come out, so I had two choices: either to put out the fire or to burn with the fire of passion."
"This is a marketing cliché.
Everyone knows that you are famous because your son is a great artistic producer.
There is no need to be unfair to him because his talent and acting are not bad."
He closed the autobiography book and opened the basics of acting.
"Acting is embodying a certain character and transferring its expressions and feelings from paper (the scenario) to reality..."
After he started reading the book, he started trying to apply some of the exercises in the book.
"Imagine that you are a judge for five minutes, then an accused, then a lawyer trying to prove the accused's innocence..
." Turn Turn
looked at his phone and found that he had spent most of his time reading and training.
Although he was not 100% confident in his success, he decided to try.
As he remembered the lines from the autobiography book, he felt the same feeling that the actor described in his writing, but the fire inside him was less than what was described in the book.
This is understandable.
As for the actor in the book, he loved acting and wanted to become an actor, but Ben, it was not like that. He was more curious and trying to do something different.
