Number Twelve Grimmauld Place, London, 1/27/1992, 19:29
Sirius watched as the dining room of his childhood home continued to fill with order members as the time for the meeting to begin drew closer.
The last few weeks had been very eventful, there had been two attacks inside Hogwarts thus far and he knew in his gut that there would be another in the near future.
Sirius was pulled from those thoughts as Frank and Alice took a seat across from him, the latter giving him a warm smile.
"Good evening, Black," Frank beamed.
"Frank, Alice, how are you two?" Sirius asked.
"Can't complain," Frank shrugged.
"That'll be a first," Alice smirked.
"Well, I could do without the wife's cheek," Frank said with a put-upon sigh.
Before Alice could reply, the three members from Hogwarts arrived and the room fell into silence.
"We are starting to have a crisis at the school, there was another attack the night before last," Dumbledore said as the two professors with him took their seats while he remained on his feet.
"We all know my cousin was behind that," Sirius sighed, getting surprised looks from others at the table.
"Why on earth would Bellatrix Peverell attack a seventh-year Hogwarts student?" Molly Weasley asked, looking confused.
"Not Bellatrix, I mean Narcissa. As to why, Melanie Selwyn is the big fish in Slytherin and more than likely ordered the attack on Draco and Harry a few weeks ago," Sirius elaborated.
"As much as it pains me to say this, I believe Black is correct about this. Narcissa is furious about the attack on her son and I doubt she will give up until she gets retribution," Snape admitted.
"Don't agree with me Snape, it makes me feel all...dirty," Sirius smirked.
"I am inclined to agree with both of your assessments," Dumbledore admitted, looking troubled.
"Well whoever carried out the attack covered their tracks very well," Moody grunted.
"They did, we couldn't find any clues as to who attacked her and no one saw anything. Miss Selwyn won't say a word about it, the girl is terrified," Minerva said, sounding just as troubled as the headmaster.
"I doubt this is the end of things, Melanie Selwyn may have ordered the attack but it is very unlikely she was directly involved in the attack on Draco and the Potter boy," Snape warned.
"Then you had best get to the bottom of who did, otherwise you can't protect them from Cissa's wrath," Sirius advised, sounding almost... gleeful.
"I figured that out for myself, Black. Word in the common rooms is the Carrow twins are her enforcers," Snape said, shooting the marauder a look of annoyance.
"I will have the elves watch over them but I am more alarmed that someone could infiltrate the castle so easily," Dumbledore admitted softly.
"The seal up all of the secret passageways that lead into Hogsmeade," Frank said as if it were obvious.
"What secret passageways?" Arthur Weasley asked in confusion.
"There are at least four secret tunnels into the castle. They each lead to different parts of Hogsmeade," Alice explained.
"There are six actually though if you count the one under the whomping willow, then it's seven," Sirius corrected.
"Good heavens," Minerva exclaimed looking, alarmed at this revelation.
"How do you think the Gryffindor afterparties are so well supplied?" Sirius beamed.
"I will definitely look into these passages, but there is a more urgent matter we need to discuss," Dumbledore said gravely.
"What is it, Albus?" Elphias Doge asked with interest.
"Severus has just received new information," Dumbledore said as he glanced over at his potions' master.
"The dark lord has a spy inside the castle, though I am not privy to their identity," Severus admitted.
"Unbelievable," Sirius muttered darkly.
"The dark lord was boasting about it at our last meeting," Snape scowled.
"Is it a student?" Bill Weasley demanded.
"I am not sure, he is very secretive as to this person's identity," Snape admitted.
"Just what we needed, another death eater in Hogwarts," Moody exclaimed irritably.
"This person has also been given orders to assassinate a staff member but again, I do not know who the target is," Snape elaborated.
"Well that's obvious, it's Dumbledore," Sirius snorted.
"Or Peverell, the bloke is definitely on Voldie's shit list," Frank pointed out.
"Either way, we must all remain vigilant, especially those of us inside the castle," Dumbledore said before anything else could be said.
"I don't like this Albus, Hogwarts is supposed to be a safe place," Molly opined, sounding very troubled.
"Nor do I, Molly. It worries me greatly when the troubles of the wizarding world make their way into the castle," Albus confessed.
As the meeting carried on, Sirius couldn't help but wonder which staff member was being targeted and If Harry was already aware of this.
'Oh well, I'll fill him in the next time I see him," Sirius thought to himself as Dumbledore called an end to the meeting and he made his way back home for the evening.
The Rookery, Devon, 2/13/1992, 13:29
Harry and his family arrived with two soft 'pops' on the dirt road leading up to the most bizarre home that Harry had ever seen. Even after visiting the Lovegoods' home on quite a few occasions, he never got used to the look of their home.
Ron had said it best, it looked like a chess rook. The building was a stubby circular tower that stood about forty feet tall and at let thirty feet wide with battlements going around the top of the building and circular windows set randomly into the walls. There was a large garden surrounding the home and an artificial moon that was suspended seventy feet in the air.
Today Harry was bringing the twins to celebrate Luna's eleventh birthday and Harry prayed Pandora decided to wear a shirt.
"Oh you made it!" a familiar voice exclaimed happily as they the rusted gate that led into the property.
"Miss Lovegood, I hope you are having a happy birthday," Harry smiled warmly.
"I am, Daddy bought me an owl and I got my wand today!" Luna exclaimed, sounding more excited than Harry had ever heard her speak.
"Happy birthday, Luna," Ignotus said, his cheeks flushing when Luna smiled at him and pulled him into a hug.
"Happy birthday," Carina said, shooting her brother a knowing look when Luna released him.
"Where are your snakes?" Luna asked as she led them to the back garden where a small group of people were already gathering around a long table.
There was a large selection of food on the table as well as a three-layered birthday cake with purple icing that was topped with a very detailed crumple-horned snorkack made of icing. Towards one end of the table was a pile of presents and Harry led his family over to deposit their gifts.
"They are not very social creatures, I thought it best to leave them at home, Miss Lovegood," Harry said kindly after he set her present on the table with the others.
"They may have caught wrackspurts," Luna said thoughtfully.
"No, they are afraid of being stepped on," Carina corrected, rolling her eyes at the older girl.
"Be nice, Princess," Harry sighed as Ignotus and Carina placed their own gift on the pile.
"Yes Daddy," Carina said, a tad too innocently for Harry to believe her.
"Harry, it's so good to see you again!" Pandora Lovegood exclaimed happily from where she was seated with Roxanne Greengrass on down the table.
Harry was pleased to see that she was dressed properly for a change.
"Hello Missus Lovegood," Harry said warily.
"Now there is no need to be so formal," Pandora smiled as she rose to her feet and engulfed him in a hug.
"I am still waiting on that concubine arrangement," Pandora whispered in his ear.
"Well *cough* Yo-You remember Bellatrix... my wife?" Harry asked as Bella gave him an amused look.
"Oh yes," Pandora agreed as she released her hold on Harry and wrapped Bella in a hug, much to his wife's surprise.
While Bella and Pandora talked, Luna led the twins off to where a group of children were already playing on the lawn.
Harry immediately recognized Edgar Black, Ginny Weasley and Astoria Greengrass among the group of children. It looked like the kids were in the middle of playing a game of football.
"Lord Peverell," Arthur Weasley beamed as he came over and offered Harry his hand.
"It's just Harry," Harry said as he shook the man's hand.
Harry noted that besides himself, Jonathan and Xeno, the adults at the party consisted of women. Roxanne Greengrass was joining Bella and Pandora, Molly Weasley was fussing over the food while a few of the mothers supervised the football game, chatting amongst themselves as the kids laughed and giggled happily.
Harry wondered how it was so warm here, he suspected that Pandora had placed an atmospheric ward over the yard to simulate springtime. The air was warm enough to walk around without a jumper and a gentle breeze blew over the garden.
"So how's Charlie getting on at the reserve?" Harry asked looking back at Arthur.
"Oh he's loving it, he talks about nothing but bloody dragons when he's home," Arthur chuckled as Jonathan joined them with three unopened beers in his hand.
"Jonathan, good to see you. Do you know Arthur?" Harry asked as he accepted the offered beer.
"Oh yes, we're sixth cousins on my father's side," Jonathan chuckled.
"All the old families are related in one way or the other," Arthur said as he accepted a beer with a grateful nod to Lord Greengrass.
"So Harry, I heard you had a spot of bother in Arizona a few weeks ago," Jonathan asked.
"You could say that, it was the biggest catastrophe I've had to deal with in my career," Harry answered, scowling at the memory.
"It was at the horned serpent reserve, wasn't it?" Arthur asked with interest.
"Yes, one of them was in critical condition and eleven more were under the effects of a powerful corruption curse," Harry elaborated.
"On the upside, the bottom dropped out of the price of their horns and spikes a few weeks ago," Jonathan pointed out.
"Those chaps at the reserve know how to turn a profit. They dredged the lake for centuries' worth of shed horns and spikes," Harry said as the three men took seats at the end of the table.
"I heard Ollivander bought some horns, he is making a new batch of wands out of them," Arthur admitted.
"Really?" Harry asked as he pondered the possibility of one of his children getting a wand with a horned serpent core in a few years.
"Oh yes, that is what Xeno was telling me a moment ago," Arthur said as the man in question approached their group.
"Mister Peverell, how is your search for the hallows coming?" Xeno asked by way of greeting.
"I know where they are but I am not seeking them out," Harry said matter-of-factly.
"Very wise, power corrupts," Xenophillius beamed.
"So I hear that Garrick Ollivander has started making wands with horned serpent cores?" Harry asked as Xenophillius took a seat beside him.
"Indeed, he is quite proud of the new wands," Xeno nodded.
"There haven't been wands like that made in Britain since before the Statute of Secrecy," Jonathan pointed out.
"And maybe this will cut down on poachers," Harry said hopefully.
"It should," Jonathan agreed.
"Have you gone back to Norway lately?" Harry asked deciding to change the subject.
"Yes, but I have only sighted one snorkack in all of my trips there," Xeno admitted with a rueful smile.
"You just have to keep at it," Jonathan said.
"Like I tell my students, it usually helps to let the creatures come to you," Harry advised.
"I don't know about that, there are plenty of creatures I don't want anywhere near me," Arthur chuckled.
"Agreed, I'm not fond of spiders," Harry admitted as he heard a ruckus coming from the children's football game as Ginny scored a goal.
"Can't blame you there, I saw the spiders they carried out of the forest in eighty-three," Jonathan admitted.
"I am actually looking into finding another elusive creature," Xenophillius said with the same far-off look Harry remembered Luna wearing quite often.
"Nargles?" Harry asked, taking a wild guess.
"Yes, but how do you know?" Xeno asked, looking taken aback.
"I read the Quibbler, Bella loves the runic puzzles," Harry smirked.
"Hm, I thought only lunatics read that thing," Xenophillius said before he summoned himself a beer.
"Some of the articles are quite entertaining," Arthur admitted.
"My favourite one was that Walden McNair owed money to the magical mafia and was fed to quintapeds when he couldn't pay up," Jonathan chuckled, making Harry sputter beer out of his nose.
"You alright mate?" Jonathan asked, looking amused
"Yeah, it just went down the wrong *cough* way," Harry said
The four sat around having a relaxed conversation until Molly called the kids over for dinner and the table became a lot noisier.
Later after dinner was finished and he joined the group in a chorus of Happy Birthday, Harry couldn't help but feel pleased with the changes he had caused in Luna's life.
Even though he didn't have much interaction with her until his fifth year, Harry could tell that Luna was a lot different than she was in his timeline.
She seemed to be much more down to earth than the Luna he remembered. True she was still a little odd but she seemed to be a lot more social. From what Harry observed, she got on well with her peers and seemed to be very close to Ginny. He hoped Luna wouldn't have as hard of a time next year as she did in his time though he would definitely keep an eye on her.
Carrows' Property, 2/14/1993, 02:49
Harry and Bellatrix flew through the air like smoke on the wind as they crossed the boundaries of the Carrows' wards. Tonight was the night they had both been waiting for since New Year's.
Harry spotted the giants, as he flew over the property, his grey smoke-like body barely showing up in the moonless night sky.
There were almost two dozen of them seated around three fires as they talked to each other in deep booming voices.
The largest giant wore a bronze Roman-style helmet and had a necklace decorated with human skulls that were strung on it like beads.
Before Harry could decide how to start off the attack, Bella zoomed forward, whisps of black smoke billowing behind her.
Harry watched in amazement as she flew at the giant wearing the helmet and literally flew into its ear. Less than a second later, the other side of the giant's head exploded outward as Bella flew through the gaping hole she had created and zoomed into the ear of the giant seated beside the one she had just killed.
Harry immediately understood what she had done. Their smoke-like form allowed them to fit through the smallest of spaces. She had flown into the giant's head and used the spell they used to blast through walls, to explode the giant's skull from the inside out.
The magical protections in the giant's skin were only in their epidermis, once a person got past that, the giants were just as susceptible to curses as wizards.
Shaking himself from those thoughts, Harry copied his wife's actions, flying towards the giants that were rising to their feet as they saw two of their comrades fall to earth with one side of their face missing.
Harry thought the process was quite unpleasant as he wafted himself down the giant's ear canal until he was met by an obstruction and he cast the spell.
The effect was instantaneous, his spell exploded through the giant's head and the pressure exerted forced his smoke-line form out of the gaping hole he had just created as the giant collapsed to earth with a loud ground-shaking 'THUMP.'
Harry picked his next target, noticing that lights had come on at the home a few hundred yards away and given the loud bellowing yells coming from the panicking giants, Harry wasn't surprised.
Harry pushed that from his mind as he picked his next target. The giant he was flying towards shook his head rapidly as it noticed the grey smoky cloud flying nearer. Harry easily dodged the giant's hand as it swatted at him before he flew into its open mouth and down its throat before casting a spell that sent a cutting spell in a three-hundred-and-sixty-degree radius.
Had Harry been in human form, this spell would have been just as dangerous to him as the giant. Thankfully he was in a smoky spirit-like form and the spell passed harmlessly through him before slicing cleanly through the giant's neck from the inside out.
Harry turned himself around as he felt fresh air and flew out of the giant's throat as the beast's head fell to earth. He had barely flown back into the open air when the giant's headless body crashed to the ground beside it.
As Harry flew back into the air, he watched another giant's head explode seconds before his wife's black smoke-like cloud flew out of the hole she had just created.
Harry flew toward his next target as he heard the sound of incoming apparition in the distance.
Harry flew faster not pausing as he flew into the ear of a giant and exploded out the other side of its head as he chose his next target.
It didn't take him and Bella to take care of the giants, they were completely defenceless against them though they did try to swipe at the smoky forms to no avail.
Harry exploded out of the last giant's head and saw figures in black robes approaching from all sides as the giant's corpse collapsed into the campfire with a loud 'CRASH!'
Harry flew to the ground and rematerialized, Bellatrix joining him a second later.
"That was fun but we have company," Bellatrix said, her voice altered due to the mask she wore.
"It was disgusting, I have never seen so much earwax in my life," Harry snorted, his own voice altered due to the hood on his unspeakable robes
"Can I cast the spell now?" Bellatrix asked eagerly, reminding him of Carina when she asked for ice cream.
"Yes, I think so," Harry agreed as he counted over thirty death eaters approaching, their silhouettes illuminated by the flickering bonfires.
"Morsmordre falce!"Bellatrix screeched, sending the mark of the Reaper into the sky and casting the area in an eerie green glow.
"I think it's time to leave but first let's see to our guests," Harry said as the first spell flew towards them.
"There are too many of them," Bella said as she looked around and noticed death eaters approaching them from all sides.
"Agreed, but we can take a few out as we leave," Harry suggested.
"I love the way you think," Bellatrix giggled as she sidestepped a cruciatus curse.
"We leave the same way we arrived, on three," Harry said as he avoided a killing curse flying toward them.
"One," Harry said before casting a spell that created a thick greyish-black fog that quickly obscured the entire clearing, making it impossible to see more than a few feet in any given direction.
"Two", Bella cooed as she cast a spell into the fog causing several screams and a wet thump to carry back to them.
"THREE!" They said in unison as they both cast ribbon cutters in different directions before transforming into their smoke-like forms and zooming through the thick fog that was illuminated a pale green due to the mark overhead. Harry could make out the flickering of the campfire and brighter green flashes of light as the death eaters cast blindly into the fog.
Harry cast a piercing hex as he flew past a lone death eater and was rewarded when his chest exploded and he collapsed in a lifeless heap on the lawn.
Harry zoomed across the lawns in a few seconds and was soon joined by Bellatrix as they crossed through the wards over the property.
They both flew to the ground before rematerializing, even from this distance they could hear a heated battle taking place and Harry couldn't help but smile to himself.
"It sounds like they are fighting each other," Bellatrix giggled.
"It wasn't what I had in mind but I'll take it," Harry said as he heard a bloodcurdling scream followed by a flash of green light.
"Sounds like they sent a bunch of recruits," Bella said thoughtfully.
"We had better go, the ministry will be here soon," Harry said.
"Take me to bed," Bellatrix purred as she gripped his forearm.
"With pleasure, Chimera," Harry beamed before he turned on the spot, both of them disappearing with a soft "pop'.
Avery Manor , Hampshire, 2/14/1992, 08:29
Voldemort pulled from Merula's mind as he finished watching the confrontation with this Reaper at the Carrows' home.
Voldemort was beyond furious, his entire contingent of giants had been destroyed in a single night!
If that wasn't bad enough, his death eaters were beyond incompetent! Those dribbling morons had been tricked into fighting each other while the Reaper and his accomplice escaped without a scratch.
In his bones, Voldemort knew that this was Peverell's way of striking back for the attack on the horned serpent reserve and that infuriated him even more!
"Merula, why didn't you just vanish the fog?" Voldemort asked in a voice of barely contained fury.
"We tried, my lord. The vanishing spells wouldn't work. I figured out how to get rid of it, but by then they had already left and most of my team was dead," Merula answered nervously.
"Oh, I saw plenty. He tricked you into fighting your own team members!" Voldemort snapped.
"They fired into us, we had them surrounded when we returned fire... s-spells came back at us and ... we didn't realise... they were from our own people," Merula muttered with a far-off haunted look on her face.
"I saw that, Merula," Voldemort sighed as he pondered how he would respond to this attack.
"If I recall, you speak Romanian?" Voldemort asked, getting the girls' attention.
"Yes my lord, I speak seven languages," Merula answered at once.
"Excellent, I have a task for you," Voldemort said as he realized his only course of action.
"Anything, master," Metula answered eagerly.
"I want you to accompany Amycus and Alecto to parlay with the vampire covenants of the Carpathian mountains," Voldemort instructed, his red eyes boring into hers.
"V-vampires?" Merula said her voice much higher than normal.
"Yes, though I would also like you to approach the Corvinus pack while you're there," Voldemort answered, feeling amused at the look of fear on the girl's face.
"As you wish, my lord," Merula said, trying to sound confident.
"Thomas will take your team as far as Bulgaria and then you will make your way there by apparition," Voldemort instructed.
"Yes sir," Merula nodded.
"If you fail, I will kill you myself Merula," Voldemort warned, causing the girl's eyes to widen in horror.
"I will not fail," Merula promised.
"Excellent, if you succeed then I will forgive your failure last night," Voldemort said in the tone of a disappointed father.
"Thank you, my lord," Merula gushed, looking far more eager to begin her trip.
"I like you Merula, you could be one of my best death eaters one day, don't make me have to kill you," Voldemort said as he gestured for her to leave.
Voldemort watched one of his newest death eaters leave the ballroom, leaving him alone with his murderous thoughts.
He couldn't believe that Peverell had the audacity to attack his giants! Months of planning had just been ruined in a single night!
The attack also gave him pause, it was no small feat to kill a giant and usually took a team of a dozen or more wizards to subdue one. The fact that two people killed twenty giants was very alarming and made him wonder how powerful this Harry Peverell actually was.
Voldemort now realized that his servant's chances of killing Peverell were very slim. Truthfully, he never expected his servant to succeed anyway but now he realized it would be very unlikely.
No, he would have to kill Peverell personally as he doubted any of his servants would be a match for the man.
He would give his servant the chance, if he failed then so be it. Unfortunately, Voldemort couldn't involve himself directly as he needed to replace the losses he took last night.
Other creatures out there could fill the role of the giants but it would be very difficult to bring them on board. Trolls were the obvious choice but they lacked the intelligence of giants which made utilizing them in battle very difficult. True giants were a bit dim but they took direction well and were able to form complex attack patterns.
The thought of the loss of one of his best weapons caused Voldemort's temper to rise again and he wanted an outlet to vent his displeasure. Realizing how to ease his tension, Voldemort prepared himself to 'speak' two of his servants.
"I suppose all that there is left to do is punish the Carrows," Voldemort muttered to himself.
Voldemort closed his eyes and sent his magic outward through the manor. The dark mark worked due to an altered form of the protean charm. To communicate over long distances, Voldemort had to use one of his servant's marks to summon his other followers, utilizing their magic to amplify the signal.
However, when he was in close proximity to his servants, he could use his own magic to summon a death eater through their mark and cut out the middleman.
Voldermort's smile turned predatory when the two servants that he wanted to see entered the room and he didn't give them a chance to speak before he struck.
'CRUCIO!"
Voldemort's spell struck both siblings, making them collapse to the floor and emit bloodcurdling shrieks as every pain receptor in their bodies was stimulated at once.
Using the spell on more than one person at a time diluted its potency quite a bit, though with the power he was pouring into the spell, this was hardly an issue. This was actually beneficial as he could really give in to his rage at the loss of the giants and not risk turning their minds into oatmeal.
Voldemort began educating his servants on the price of failure, their tormented screams echoing around the room as he hit them with the curse again and again.
British Auror Academy, Location Classified, 2/14/1992, 13:49
Tonks made her way out of the mess tent and made her way to the training grounds with her classmates for their afternoon lessons.
The auror academy had been everything she had hoped for but she couldn't deny the training was exhausting.
She followed behind Hestia as they made their way to the green lawn of the Academy where they usually ran through training drills in the afternoon.
With a name like the auror academy, Tonks had expected a school similar to Hogwarts with a large castle or an official building of some sort. She had been very surprised to learn that the auror academy was really just a big campsite on a large moor somewhere in Scotland.
From what she had learned, the Academy was mobile and was set up in a different location every year. It was really just a collection of huge magical tents where the recruits ate, slept, and sat their academic classes.
All of their practical classes were outside no matter the weather and their head instructor was a bloody sadist!
Thinking of her head instructor, Tonks saw the one-legged bastard standing up on a raised platform as he watched the first-year auror recruits form up in front of him in rows of five.
Tonks took her place and stood at attention with her peers as they waited for Instructor Moody to acknowledge them.
"PARADE REST!" Moody bellowed, pulling Tonks from her thoughts and she gratefully widened her stance and looked up at her instructor.
"Alright, today we will be taking a field trip to a recent attack so you little pansies can see what a crime scene looks like!" Moody exclaimed loudly, his gravelly voice echoing over the open grounds.
Tonks felt her excitement build as other instructors began organizing the first-years into groups of seven before giving them a four-foot section of rope.
After all of the portkeys had been distributed, Moody bellowed the passphrase for the portkeys.
"Bloodbath!"
Tonks felt the familiar pull behind her navel before she was pulled through time and space as they were portkeyed away to their first crime scene.
Carrows' Property, Wales, Same Time
Tonks appeared on another wide-open lawn, though this one was strewn with mutilated bodies and the grass was sound in dried blood and bits and pieces of flesh making her feel like she was going to vomit before she tapped down on her occlumency.
The thing that shocked her the most was that over half of the bodies were giants! Badly mutilated giants!
Most of them were missing one side of their heads, though a few of them had been decapitated completely.
"First years, form up!" Moody bellowed when the last portkey arrived from the academy.
Tonks took her place in the row next to Hestia as she took in the scene around her. The lawn was crawling with ministry processing teams who were documenting the crime scene.
Over their heads, an altered dark mark floated over the battlefield. Idly Tonks noticed that there was a scythe superimposed over the mark and that the serpent coming out of the skull's mouth was decapitated and its head floated listlessly under the mark.
Tonks was pulled from her observations as Moody began to speak, his voice easily carrying over the chatter from the ministry employees.
"As you lot can see, there was a bloody battle fought here in the early hours of this morning," Moody explained.
"Sir, are those giants?" Maxwell Ferrell asked from the row in front of hers.
"Aye, whoever the attackers were, slaughtered these brutes with little effort," Moody answered.
"I thought it was impossible to fall a giant with a spell sir?" Hestia asked from Tonks' right.
"Nothing is impossible, Jones. Difficult would be a better term," Moody corrected.
"And that mark, sir?" a redhead recruit asked from the front row.
"The papers have dubbed that the mark of the Reaper," Moody answered, looking amused at the name.
Tonks first crime scene wasn't all it was cracked up to be Tonks thought as she and her classmates were charged with bagging and transporting the twenty dead giants to the creature destruction facility. Whatever had killed them had seemed to explode most of the giants' heads from the inside out as there were no visible entry wounds.
As Tonks went through the lawn with a bin bag and picked up shards of skull and chunks of burned flesh, she couldn't help but notice something... interesting.
She recognized the magical residue lingering on the giants' remains, she had felt this magic many times in her childhood. To her, it felt safe and comforting but she immediately knew who had killed these giants.
'I think Uncle Harry is the Reaper!" Tonks thought to herself in shock as she felt his magic present around the decapitated giant's head as she walked past it.
Tonks continued with her task, making plans to talk to her uncle soon and get to the bottom of this.
