Amber was happily eating snacks when Emma, sitting next to her, suddenly got up and left with a dark expression.
Amber, confused, shouted from behind:
"Didn't you say there's nothing to worry about?"
Emma clenched her teeth in frustration, anger boiling in her heart.
What do you mean 'next time'? You can just go with her now!
Pushing through the crowd, Emma walked up to Ethan's booth. But upon seeing him, she suddenly didn't know what to say.
In the end, she used Mr. Hariss as an excuse:
"I think you've taken care of everything here."
"Mr. Hariss has been very worried about you. Don't forget to contact him as soon as possible."
"We're about to head back to Southgate. Let's go together."
Before Ethan could respond, Emma grabbed his arm and pulled him away, leaving him startled.
The two left the bustling material market quickly. Emma walked ahead without saying a word, her steps hurried.
Ethan, unable to contain his amusement, laughed and said:
"I still have some materials left back there. Isn't this a bit excessive?"
Emma, her tone cold, replied:
"I'll pay you back for it."
Ethan's grin widened as he teased:
"Are you jealous?"
Emma froze, immediately letting go of his arm, and replied with a feigned nonchalance:
"What are you talking about?"
"Mr. Hariss asked me to…"
Ethan, still smiling, interrupted:
"Then I'll call him and ask him myself."
"Go ahead."
Without another word, Emma turned and quickly fled the scene, clearly unable to handle the situation anymore.
Watching her retreating figure, Ethan chuckled to himself.
Why didn't I realize before that this girl could be so adorably stubborn?
But there were still matters to deal with.
Ethan's thoughts turned to Mr. Hariss. He owed him a debt, and the best way to repay him might be through the Beast Egg he had found.
From the moment he acquired the Beast Egg, Ethan had considered giving it to Mr. Hariss. Selling it was never an option; he didn't particularly like the egg anyway.
This gift could help Mr. Hariss achieve new heights, perhaps even becoming a top-tier elite trainer in the future.
However, there was still the issue of the egg's blood defect.
Perhaps a beast hospital could resolve this problem after returning, Ethan thought.
At that moment, his Black Goat sent him a mental message through their bond.
Ethan was surprised and rushed back to the hotel. He immediately took out the Beast Egg and summoned the Black Goat.
Looking at his companion, he asked curiously:
"You just said there's a way to fix the Beast Egg's blood defect?"
The Black Goat didn't reply verbally. Instead, it extended one of its tentacles, placing it on the egg's surface. The suction cups on the tentacle firmly adhered to the eggshell.
Ethan watched in astonishment as the Black Goat transferred a strong vitality into the egg.
The dull, lifeless egg visibly transformed—it became smooth and vibrant, the aura within growing stronger. The egg began to tremble, and tiny cracks appeared on its surface. It was on the verge of hatching!
After completing the process, the Black Goat withdrew its tentacle, its aura noticeably weaker.
Ethan recognized the skill it had used: [Life Tentacle]. The Black Goat had sacrificed a portion of its own life essence to heal the egg's deficiencies and even accelerate its hatching!
Activating his Beast Taming talent, Ethan examined the egg's updated status:
[Race]: Black Crystal Black Snake (hatching soon)
[Bloodline]: High Grand
[Talent]: Black Rock (A+)
[Note]: This Beast Egg is not eligible for a contract.
The blood defect was completely resolved!
Ethan couldn't hide his excitement.
I didn't expect the [Life Tentacle] skill to be this versatile. Not only can it fix defects, but it can also hasten hatching. This could be a profitable side business in the future—restoring defective Beast Eggs!
With the egg restored, Ethan was certain Mr. Hariss would appreciate the gift.
The next day, Ethan arranged for another ride with the same Dapeng Beast Master, experiencing the unique express service once again.
This time, the Beast Master looked at Ethan with a complicated expression after reaching their destination.
"I never would've guessed you were that wolf-slaying boy."
"A few weeks ago, you were just a newly awakened student. And now…"
Ethan, unfazed by the nickname, nodded politely and made his way to meet Mr. Hariss in Southgate.
After arranging a meeting, Ethan arrived at Mr. Hariss's home in the afternoon.
Inside, Ethan didn't bother with preamble. He took out the Beast Egg and placed it on the table.
"Mr. Hariss, I had a successful trip to the Blackstone gate" Ethan said, smiling.
"I stumbled upon a High -level Beast Egg."
Mr. Hariss's face lit up with pride and excitement.
"Son, you've finally figured things out!" he exclaimed.
"I'm so glad you're taking this seriously now. Let me take a look."
He carefully examined the egg, muttering as he observed:
"The vitality is strong—definitely not a fake. The bloodline quality seems excellent, though I recommend a full check at a beast hospital to be certain."
After finishing, Mr. Hariss adjusted his glasses and patted Ethan's shoulder warmly.
"You've done well—better than I expected. I honestly thought you'd just make it out of the gate alive, but this… This is incredible!"
Mr. Hariss then began outlining Ethan's next steps:
"With this Beast Egg, you're on track to becoming a top-tier elite Beast Tamer. Focus on raising it carefully, especially during its infancy."
"Also, don't rush to contract a second Beast. Spreading your talent too thin will hinder your growth. For now, concentrate on the Black Goat and this new partner."
Ethan's smile froze.
Why does it feel like something's off? Wasn't this supposed to be for him, not me?
