Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: Dark Abyss Alliance

Beginner Beast Fragment: 2215 (+365)/50

Elite Beast Fragment: 1408 (+808)/200

Perfect Beast Fragment: 80 (+20)/1000

Beast:

Mega Beast: [Poisonous Wasp Arrow (6 beg) (3 elite) (myst) (perf)]

"Mysterious beast soul may be able to let me have a flying soul beast since this is poisonous and can easily make mysterious beasts half dead, giving me a chance to even slay a perfect one."

Contemplating, his eyes drifted toward the fragments.

"I need more."

Running his finger over the storage rings, his face brightened.

"The carcasses of 365 beginner, 202 elite, and 28 mysterious poisonous wasps can retrieve sufficient fragments."

The panel interface changed.

Shop:

- Beast Soul

Overlooking all the greyed-out beast souls, he opened 'Your Beast Soul.'

[ShadowFang Dagger (Mys)][NightBow (3 beg) (elite)(myst)]

[Mammo Armor (Myst)]

[Extraordinary Nightmare Realm (Beg)]

[Poisonous Wasp Arrow (6 beg) (3 elite) (myst)(perf)]

Staring at the panel, his thoughts drifted.

Having nothing to do while eating roasted cattle, his mind roamed despite his efforts to control it. In the end, he let it wander without boundaries.

As fate would have it, after randomly collecting many pieces, he thought of the shop to retrieve a perfect rank of the Extraordinary Nightmare Realm, but its cost crushed all his expectations.

Extraordinary Nightmare Realm [Beg]

[Beg]: 1000 perfect fragments

[Elite]: 1500 perfect fragments

[Myst]: 2000 perfect fragments

[Perf]: 5000 perfect fragments

This meant I would have to kill 250 perfect beasts to obtain 2000 perfect fragments.

Now, given his fruitful hunt, his mind shifted to saving fragments.

But the biggest issue remained: if every alliance leader knew about the existence of extraordinary beasts, why hadn't they informed or publicized it?

Was there some hidden puzzle or...

Shaking his head, he cleared his mind.

"Too early to overthink. I need to collect perfect fragments."

The interface changed again.

Exchange:

5 beg frag: 1 elite

5 elite: 1 myst

5 myst: 1 perfect

"This is the shop exchange rate between fragments."

Leaning his back on the trunk, he memorized:

10 beg frag: 1 elite

100 elite: 1 myst

100 myst: 1 perfect

This is the exchange rate on the campus site, which means the government and players are directly ripping each other off. Or you could also say that nobody is ripping anyone off since players can buy and sell at that price. Though, one could argue it's unfair for those without shop access. But one thing he had to admit was that the government was providing a friendly environment for every newbie.

Everything seemed fine, as both parties were maximizing their benefits.

"I need a double character to maximize the benefit."

The issue here was that every player had already been assigned their identification card during their first time, so no one could cheat the system or other players.

The system was already airtight.

"I've only one option left," he muttered with a faint smile, standing up from the ground under the crown's shadow.

"I've only five days left."

After hunting the wasps, he had been searching madly for easy targets but hadn't found any in two days except for running during the day and spending the night in the forest. This process repeated.

Sprinting, he leaped onto a branch.

"I've to get information of the location from the campus."

...

Thud!

"Sorry, bro," Rahul said, forwarding his hand.

"You?"

Both exclaimed at the same time.

Rahul pulled back his hand as the other shrugged off the dust.

"Buddy, what are you doing in our campus?"

"This is also mine."

Keeping one hand over Rahul's shoulder, he continued, "Let's go, my treat."

Pondering for a moment, Rahul nodded.

"Let's go."

"I never thought you belonged to this campus, but I never saw you."

"I'm a newbie."

"Your joke is too old."

"I'm not joking."

"...?"

"Heh! You're saying in just over a week you got this much stronger?"

"My pet is stronger," he replied, summoning his Emberfluff onto his shoulder.

Meow

"Since you don't want to share, that's fine."

"Sir, your order."

"Bring me two roasted perfect cattle."

"Okay, sir."

"Buddy, you're too rich."

"Didn't I tell you that as long as money can solve a problem, then it's not a problem."

A rich man's quote.

"I'll treat you next time."

"Don't you have curiosity about me?"

"Hmm, but I'll get nothing, so I don't want to know."

"Boy, your words are sharper than any perfect weapon."

"Sir, your roasted cattle."

"And sir, your roasted cattle."

After a little conversation, Rahul finally asked, "I've a mysterious poisonous wasp arrow. Want to trade?"

"Are you sure?"

"Flying beast soul."

"Any other?"

Shredding the outer layer, he cut down a chunk of roasted meat with a knife and took a big bite.

Licking his lips, Rahul replied, "Only these reciprocate each other's price."

"Fine, but I don't need it since I already have one."

"Okay."

Occupied with the meat, he asked without raising his head, "Want to buy the location of mysterious and perfect lairs for 1 mysterious and 2 elite beast souls."

"1 Perfect beast soul."

"Too high. 1 mysterious and 3 elite beast souls."

"Done."

"You have it now?"

"Are you in an alliance?"

Both continued to converse while feasting on the roasted cattle as though no conversation was happening if someone observed from afar.

"No."

"A panel would've appeared by now."
