Chapter 1 - An unexpected find Pt1

A Gunja Story

Once again I find myself completely alone, wandering around this large, empty domain. Thinking back, I've been alone so long it feels pretty normal. It wasn't that strange that I would be an outcast, I was simply weaker than the average pup, I was simply...disposable. Not long after I started joining the hunts, my pack got fed up with my uselessness and threw me out; Now I wander the land alone. Spending so much time on my own has given me a lot of room to reflect on my horrid past. Thinking back on my first days alone, It want too bad, on the up side I get to keep the food for myself; whatever I hunted was mine and mine alone and that's honestly felt great...right? Deep down I knew that wasn't true. Slowly I began to reminisce anout the good old days when I would play with siblings and we would share our meals in the warmth of our mothers den. Even though I don't as much, I still think back and crave the companionship of a pack... even those who abandoned me. Honestly, I would give up the whole forest for someone to play with.

Completely enthralled in my worries, I missed a step along a sloped Incline, falling over and sliding down towards a small river. After recovering I shook the dirt off my fur and tried to continue back up the slope. Just as I jumped up onto the incline, I thought to myself how the trip back to the den would be long and arduous; I also thought about how it would be best to get some well deserved rest before hand.

Changing my mind on the situation I turned away from the slope I was resting against. standing upright made me feel quite vulnerable so I opted to get down quickly and head towards the river for a drink. Upon reaching the riverside, I stumbled upon some heap of food scraps, probably from another hunter tresspassing on my domain.

Although no other gunja would be caught doing so, I learned rather quickly that eating the scraps of others is a great wy to survive. Fatigued and fammished I began lifting my right arm to claw into the meat that lay before me. However, a distracting sound came from the scraps heap, causing me to pause. Strangely, I heard sneezing coming from the dead animal. Gently moving the scraps of meat around I noticed something poking out, it was... a hand, A very small one at that. Grabbing the hand with my own and pulling hard, I found attached to that arm was a human. It had been quite a while since I last saw one, but I'm sure they don't look like this... right?

This one looks so unhealthy; there's no way I'm going to eat this thing; i mean It might end up getting me sick. Wondering what to do with my strange new discovery I could only speculate on all the benefits keeping a human around would yield. Tools, Food and even hunting, I heard and even saw humans do all sorts of incredible things. Finally deciding to take it back, I picked the small human up in my mouth just like my mother used to do to me. What benefits will this one bring me, I could only speculate as I made my way back to the den, with the small human child in my mouth.
