Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Move to the City

Arthur grew up in a quiet, middle-class family in the countryside, the only child of hardworking parents. His father and mother dreamed of a better future for him—a life filled with opportunities they never had. Believing the city could offer better education and brighter prospects, they made the tough decision to leave behind their simple life in the village, selling their small piece of farmland to start anew.

The city was overwhelming—crowded, noisy, and unfamiliar. The family moved into a tiny, rented apartment, hoping to make ends meet while ensuring Arthur got the education he deserved. But Arthur, a naturally introverted and reserved boy, found it difficult to adjust. He struggled to make friends and preferred spending time alone, either reading or staring out of the window, watching the chaotic world go by.

In school, Arthur's troubles grew. He was weak academically, often struggling to understand lessons. Sports didn't interest him either, leaving him alienated from his classmates. His teachers often labeled him as lazy or unmotivated, unaware of the internal battles he was fighting.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, everything came to a standstill. Schools closed, and classes moved online. Arthur's parents, desperate to keep him on track, bought him a mobile phone to attend online classes. However, Arthur's use of the phone had little to do with studies. He discovered mobile games and became hooked, spending hours playing instead of focusing on his lessons.

Despite his distractions, Arthur managed to pass Grade 6. But his parents' concern grew—they feared the city's opportunities might be slipping away from their quiet, withdrawn son.
