Chapter 11 - The Dark Covenant

I didn't trust Dorian anymore. But there was no time to sit around and figure out where we stood. The organization wasn't going to wait for us to sort things out. If anything, they were getting closer. Every moment we spent fighting with each other, was another moment they could use to get ahead of us.

"Where do we go from here?" I asked, breaking the silence.

Dorian's eyes flickered to the door, then back to me. "We need to find the covenant."

I raised an eyebrow. "What covenant?"

"The Dark Covenant," he said, his voice low. "It's the key to stopping them."

I wasn't sure whether to believe him or not. "How does that even help?"

"The covenant holds power—dark magic," Dorian explained, his gaze intense. "It's the source of the organization's strength. If we can destroy it, we can take them down."

I crossed my arms. "And you think you can just walk in and destroy it?"

"I didn't say it would be easy," he replied. "But it's our only shot."

I didn't know whether to be angry or relieved. The more Dorian spoke, the more it seemed like we were walking into something much bigger than we'd realized. "Where do we find this covenant?"

Dorian hesitated, his eyes darkening. "It's hidden. Protected by people who are loyal to the organization."

I narrowed my eyes. "How do you know so much about it?"

"I've been part of this for a long time," Dorian said, his voice tight. "I know how they think."

It was all starting to make sense. Dorian wasn't just some guy caught up in this. He was deep in it. "So, you've been working for them?"

He shook his head. "No. I've been trying to destroy them from the inside."

"Why didn't you tell me this sooner?" I asked, the frustration bubbling up.

"I couldn't," he said. "If I told you, you'd be a target. I was trying to protect you."

I was done with the excuses. "You don't get to decide that. Not anymore."

Dorian's jaw tightened, but he didn't argue. "We need to work together now. There's no other way."

I wasn't sure if I could trust him anymore. But the truth was, I didn't have many options. "Fine. But we do this my way. No more secrets."

Dorian nodded. "Agreed."

I looked around the room, trying to focus. The weight of everything was starting to sink in. The organization was after me. Dorian was part of it. And now, we were going after their power. It was all too much. But if I was going to survive this, I had no choice but to keep moving forward.

"Where do we start?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.

"We find the covenant," Dorian said, his gaze hardening. "And we destroy it."
