With the newfound resolve gained from Sunan Karimunjawa's teachings, Arya, Barong, and Vassago set their sights on Gresik, the land where Sunan Giri once spread his wisdom. Known as a gateway of trade and Islamic teachings, Gresik was a city rich in spiritual energy and historical significance.
Throughout the journey, Arya reflected on the lessons of tolerance and harmony. Yet, he realized that tolerance alone was insufficient. In his mission to maintain Nusantara's balance, he needed strategy and courage to act amidst greater conflicts.
A Secret Message on the Journey
As night fell, the group stopped at a small village to rest. Ever vigilant, Vassago sensed something unusual.
"The energy here is strange," said Vassago, his eyes faintly glowing. "Something wishes to convey a message to us."
Barong sniffed the air, searching for invisible traces. "It's not a threat, but we must remain alert."
As Arya sat under a large tree, a soft yet commanding voice echoed in his mind. It was the voice of Sunan Giri, one of the Wali Songo renowned for his expertise in strategy and teaching through art.
"Arya," the voice said, "you are nearing my domain. Yet, before you arrive, you must understand what it means to lead and protect. This journey will test your leadership."
Arya nodded, even though he knew the voice could only be heard by him. "I will do it. I wish to learn how to become a wise leader."
Arrival in Gresik
Upon arriving in Gresik, the city was bustling with the activity of markets and harbors. Amid the lively crowds, Arya sensed a unique aura. This place was not only a hub of trade but also a meeting point of diverse cultures.
However, tension was palpable. In one corner of the city, a group of local merchants argued with traders from foreign lands. Arya approached them to understand the issue.
"Why are you arguing?" Arya asked.
One of the local merchants replied angrily, "They've taken too much space in this market. We can't sell our goods fairly!"
The foreign trader retorted, "We only use what we need. We have no intention of disrupting you."
Arya saw the potential for this dispute to escalate into a larger conflict. Remembering the teachings of Sunan Kudus, he tried to calm both sides.
"Listen to me," Arya said. "You are all part of this city. If you continue fighting, this city will fall apart. Let's find a solution that's fair for everyone."
While Arya's words pacified some, the tension lingered. He realized that wisdom required more than just words.
Meeting Sunan Giri
Amid the crowd, a man in a white robe appeared. He exuded an aura of calm yet firm authority. Arya immediately recognized him as Sunan Giri.
"A simple issue can grow into a great conflict if not handled wisely," Sunan Giri said. "Let us see how you address this, Arya."
Arya felt a sense of relief at Sunan Giri's presence. Together, they guided the two groups of traders to a large hall near the mosque. Sunan Giri invited them to sit and speak openly.
"Every problem has deep roots," said Sunan Giri. "Understand the roots, and you will find the solution."
With Sunan Giri's guidance, Arya began to see that the conflict was not merely about market space but also about broken trust and communication. He proposed a fair division of market areas and a rotational system to ensure all merchants had equal opportunities.
"Your decision is wise," Sunan Giri said after the traders agreed. "But this is only the beginning. Leadership is not just about making decisions but ensuring they bring positive change for all."
Lessons from Sunan Giri
After the meeting, Sunan Giri spoke with Arya privately.
"You have shown great potential as a leader," Sunan Giri said. "But remember, leadership is about service. A true leader does not seek power but seeks ways to protect and uplift those they lead."
Sunan Giri then taught Arya strategies for navigating greater conflicts. He spoke about the importance of collaboration, effective teaching, and how art and culture could be powerful tools to unite people.
Continuing the Journey
Armed with new wisdom from Sunan Giri, Arya felt better prepared for the challenges ahead. He expressed his gratitude to Sunan Giri and promised to carry these teachings into his mission.
"Your journey is far from over," Sunan Giri said. "But I am confident you will become a worthy protector of Nusantara."
Arya, Barong, and Vassago resumed their journey, carrying Sunan Giri's lessons in their hearts. Their next destination awaited, where another Wali Songo would impart a different yet equally vital wisdom.
