Chapter 61 - Chapter 61 One Dish Costs Millions

'The Young Lady Kenda mentioned is the other individual to be protected. If what Kenda said about the number of enemies is true, then having two targets to protect significantly increases the difficulty.'

"I have a question."

After breaking away from his thought, Law asked Kenda, who looked at him, waiting for what to say next.

"What is the standard for passing this test?"

"The perimeter of 300 square meters. No enemy is allowed to enter this range until the airship reaches its destination." Kenda answered flatly.

Law asked calmly, "And if we fail?"

Kenda's lips suddenly curved into a chilling smile and he said, "You'll be thrown off the airship."

The atmosphere in the car froze instantly, after all, being thrown off the ship would mean certain death.

Law nodded slightly to show his understanding, then he turned his head to look out the car window in silence.

Kenda looked at the very calm Law with his eyelids slightly raised. Apart from his young age, he had a very good impression of Law.

Though this was their first collaboration with Meteor City, Kenda knew a lot of information, such as the ability to select useful talents from this group of people.

'This kid is only a few years older than Young Lady. If he performs well... I can suggest to Master to recruit him as Young Lady's bodyguard.'

'Hmm? Why am I even considering this? The test hasn't even started yet… Is it because of this boy's calmness that I unconsciously start to value him?'

A hint of surprise flashed across Kenda's eyes, then he calmed down, closed his eyes and feigned sleep.

Meanwhile, Law gazed at the barren landscape speeding past the window.

He didn't know how big the airship would be, nor what the concept of 300 square meters meant on the spaceship. He only knew that if he allowed the enemy to break into the area, he would be thrown off the airship.

'In this way, Kuri and the others will probably become even more unscrupulous.'

Thinking of this, Law sighed inwardly. He hated this mission, especially the yet-unseen employer behind it all.

'If it weren't for the fact that Machi and the others were being held as leverage...'

'Lack of power really left no room for resistance…'

'Before, the Elder had mentioned the mission's connection to rare collectibles.'

'Although it is not clear who will take the items after the mission is completed, it is very likely to be the employer.'

'In other words, the employer should be someone that like collecting rare treasures.'

'If this employer were indeed a collector of rare artifacts, and given that the Yorknew Auction was a hotspot for such treasures, then this is a chance for me.'

'If I could get in touch with many antique collections that might contained Nen through this employer, I might be able to become stronger quickly.'

The car remained silent as the group sank into their thoughts.

Time passed little by little, and four hours went by in a flash while Law sat in meditation.

Around noon, the car arrived at the airport.

After getting off the car, Kenda picked up his cell phone and made a call. After confirming some things, he took the lead and walked in front, while Law and the others followed closely behind.

This was Law's first time out of Meteor City. The streets and buildings he saw along the way made him finally feel like he had returned to modern society.

When arriving at the airport at this time, he felt even more at home.

Under Kenda's leadership, everyone skipped the check-in procedures and walked directly through a boarding passageway to the open tarmac.

There, huge airships parked quietly on the ground, and tour buses carrying passengers were driving back and forth on the tarmac, taking the passengers to the airships or to the terminal.

Soon, with the assistance of the staff, the group boarded the airship.

After getting on the airship, Kenda seemed to be quite familiar with the airship's layout. Without hesitation, he led them toward a specific destination.

"Master is already waiting in the VIP room on the second floor. This airship departs at 2 PM, and boarding officially starts at 1 PM. Before that, we are the only passengers on this airship."

Kenda explained as he walked.

Law and the others took this opportunity to observe the environment inside the airship.

After walking for a while, they reached an elevator. When it opened, everyone stepped inside.

Facing the elevator door, Kenda remarked, "You are very lucky to have the opportunity to have lunch with Master and Young Lady."

'What an arrogant way to phrase it…'

Law curled his lips, but did not realize that Kenda using lucky rather than honored.

Kuri and the others' eyes lit up when they heard this. After all, this was a lunch for the rich, so it must be very extravagant and delicious.

Ding!

The elevator arrived at the second floor, and as the doors slid open, the group stepped out.

Compared with the decoration on the first floor, the second floor is obviously more luxurious. Whether it is the carpet, walls or lighting, they are all more luxurious than the first floor.

Kenda led everyone through an outer hallway to a set of double wooden doors at the very end.

Kenda stood in front of the door, but did not open it immediately. Instead, he turned around and looked at the people behind him and said, "I'd like to remind you first, don't eat too ugly."

Everyone was slightly stunned when they heard this, not knowing what was going on.

"This is not a meal that ordinary people can have. The ingredients used in each dish are expensive ingredients that only Gourmet Hunters can obtain. The value of a single dish can easily be millions of Jenny."

"Master inviting you to this meal shows his anticipation for your performance. I hope that no one will be thrown off the airship during the next two days of voyage."

After Kenda finished speaking, he pushed open the double wooden doors without even knocking.

Law was intrigued by Kenda's words, or to be more precise, by the meal that followed.

'The expensive ingredients that only Gourmet Hunters can obtain? I'm really looking forward to it.'

After the door opened, a magnificent room was revealed. It's like the presidential suite of a luxury hotel.

In front of the main entrance is a long dining table covered with a white tablecloth.

Intricate silverware was meticulously arranged at each seat, and at the table's head sat two figures, which are a man and a girl.

The man, likely in his forties, had a slightly overweight build and slicked-back hair. His sharp brows and narrow eyes gave him a cunning look, further accentuated by the seven or eight scars crisscrossing his face. A lit cigar dangled from his mouth, and his clasped hands rested on the table, the gems on his four rings glittering under the light.

The girl seems to be no older than ten years old, with long golden hair, porcelain-white skin, and delicate features, making her look like a porcelain doll.

She propped her cheek on one hand, idly playing with her silverware with the other, with a look of boredom on her face.

Kenda led the group into the room. Behind them, two tall men in black suits, who are standing on either side of the doorway, closed the double doors.

"Master, Miss."

Kenda placed his right hand on his left chest and bowed deeply to the two people at the end of the long table.

The man with the slicked-back hair is Barney Garfield, who made his fortune from drugs. While his power and status are not as strong as the Ten Dons, he held a position close to that tier, just beneath the most elite and well-connected.

The little blonde girl next to him is his biological daughter, Ellie Garfield.

Barney nodded slightly to Kenda, then looked at Law and the others carefully. After seeing Law's age, he did not show any signs of prejudice.

As a seasoned Mafia boss, Barney had encountered many things, so he would not underestimate Law just because of his age.

After looking at them for a moment, Barney said calmly, "Welcome, please take a seat."

For someone of his stature, this simple acknowledgment was already generous.

Stepping into such a luxurious room, the slight sense of restraint that Kuri and his companions had felt in the car reappeared. And after hearing Barney's words, they hurriedly sat down at the long table.

Meanwhile, Law was not so anxious. He observed the number of people in the room subtly and sat leisurely in the outermost seat.

His demeanor and attitude, as if he was in a familiar place, were obviously different from those of Kuri and the others.

Barney was a little surprised when he saw this.

Ellie, whose face was almost covered with boredom, stopped fiddling with her silverware and observed Law with interest, perhaps because of Law's age.

"Serve the dishes."

After everyone was seated, Barney did not introduce himself, nor did he ask for their names. He looked directly at Kenda and asked the latter to notify the chef to serve the dishes.

Bowing slightly, Kenda retreated from the room to relay the command.
