Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Finding a Job

With a little confusion and tiredness, Ian walked towards the brown walnut wood single bed by the window. The long-lost tranquility and security made Ian fall asleep quickly.

He inexplicably traveled through the apocalypse, and his mind was always tense. Even in the relatively safe environment and the settlement he had carefully cleared, he had never found the peace he had now.

This is actually not difficult to understand. After all, in a dead and silent world where he has no relatives, and the feeling of panic that comes from just staring at shadows, all of these oppress and destroy his spirit.

In this case, even if you sleep, it is just a shallow rest, and even the rapid eye movement stage will not be reached.

The theory that two hours of deep sleep is better than a day of shallow sleep has been confirmed again.

After waking up in the evening, Ian felt like a nine-tailed grass that had not seen rain for many years. After being watered by the spring rain, he felt a sense of rebirth that was a long-awaited blessing.

After a simple wash and tidying up, he changed into a second-hand plain robe left by Old Tom.

Looking at the figure in the mirror, the mysterious, tall, slender boy, the old second-hand robe on him seemed to be cast with a magic of charm.

"What's that? One day I was impressed by how handsome I am..."

But it was time to go downstairs, and Ian pushed the door open.

The bar at this moment was obviously not as crowded as when he arrived. There were only a few people scattered around in twos and threes.

As it was dark in the evening, Ian's arrival did not disturb others. He walked straight to Old Tom who was wiping his wine glass.

"You look very energetic, which proves that you have had a good rest. I think you need a glass of lemon water with a few drops of ecstasy."

It was obvious that Old Tom noticed Ian and he filled the freshly wiped cup next to him with lemonade.

"Thank you for your hospitality. To be honest, I haven't slept so peacefully for a long time. I wonder if you know where I can find a job?"

After expressing his gratitude, Ian took the opportunity to put forward his request.

"Well, there's no need to rush for now. You can eat something first. I'll show you how to get into Diagon Alley later. Maybe you can try your luck there."

Ian understood this answer.

As expected and reasonable, it is not difficult to see that although Old Tom is very friendly to the little wizards, his friendliness is limited to this.

As the "flag bearer" of Diagon Alley, he was not stupid. Allowing a strange wizard to buy on credit and wearing blood-stained clothes undoubtedly represented trouble, even if the wizard was a minor.

Ian was very grateful to be able to live here temporarily.

So, he had no right to ask for more, like asking to work in the bar or seeking help to find a job.

"Anyway, thank you so much."

Looking at old Tom's wrinkled and toothless face, Ian thought silently in his heart.

Looking at the dinner handed to him by Old Tom, a serving of French fries and two high-quality sandwiches with obvious extra ingredients.

Compared to many "predecessors" who complained about British food, this dinner was already extremely luxurious for him, who was still cooking batter in the end times.

After having this luxurious dinner, Ian, led by Old Tom, walked through the bar and came to a small patio surrounded by walls on all sides. There was nothing here except a trash can and some weeds.

The other person pointed to the tiles above the trash can.

"Remember, count three blocks up and two blocks sideways." After that, Old Tom took out his wand and knocked on the wall three times, and the wall began to shake.

Soon, a not-too-narrow archway was formed, leading to a winding street paved with irregular cobblestones that seemed to have no end.

"Welcome to Diagon Alley," Old Tom looked at Ian with a smile.

However, seeing that the other party obviously had no intention of accompanying him in, he just stood at the entrance of the archway, gestured, and then slowly walked back.

Ian thanked him again and then walked into this holy place for checking in among all the heavens and worlds.
