Zach
The twins ran over with the first aid kit. They ruined the moment I had with Nicole, and I could only sigh as I pulled away from the kiss, pretending that we were not about doing anything. I wanted to remind her of what she has been missing out on.
"Uncle Zach! We got the first aid kit for Aunt Nicole!" The kids said, all in an over excited frenzy as they both high-fived, and then handed the kit over to me. My hands were opened sheepishly.
"Thank you kids, you're so helpful!" Nicole said, smiling as she tried to high-fived the twins at the same time, and nearly caused herself to fall at once, luckily I caught her in mid air, pulling her to me.
"Prone to falling now?" I asked her, her face inches away from mine. I could feel her morning dew breath on my skin.
She pulled away, giving me a light chuckle, pressing her fingers into my chest. "Kids, tell uncle Zach that Aunt Nicole is tired of sitting on the grass" she said as she turned to face the kids, trying to make a point to me. Her eyes smiled from her lips.
"Uncle Zach, let's get her into the house!" The kids got, up chanting with their fists raised triumphantly.
"Alright alright. Let me fix her up and then we will all leave the grass, alright?" I asked, heaving a sigh.
"Now you're talking," Nicole replied, flicking a look at me.
"Yayy!" The twins replied excitedly.
I put the first aid box on the floor and opened it to reveal a set of tools and medicine, all arranged meticulously. I brought out the methylated spirit and a cotton wool. "Give me your arm" I said to her and she stretched it towards me. I saw the blister where I has licked before.
She sucked in a breath as soon as she waited for me to start applying it to her. I couldn't help but think of how sexy it sounded.
Every move of hers felt like an intentional seduction to me. As though verything she did was amplified. I was beginning to really consider that she was my mate.
Every wolf I've ever known who talked about their mate, talked about a very powerful pull they felt when they met their mate and I couldn't deny that was what I felt with Nicole.. Everything pulled me towards her, like some a magnet, and I was nothing but a metal nail. It was almost like I couldn't function without her.
She drew me in without even trying, maybe the goddess wasn't playing a game, I thought. Maybe indeed she was telling me this was my mate and I was merely being too blind to see it.
"Zach, Zach!" I heard Nicole call my name suddenly.
"Yeah?" I replied as I stopped cleaning her wound.
"You've been cleaning that wound for a while now, where did your mind run off to?" Nicole asked.
"Hurry up, Uncle Zach!" The kids continued their chanting.
"Yes Uncle Zach, hurry up" Nicole mocked.
"Are you having fun with this?" I asked Nicole as I picked up the bandage and placed it above her wound. I stood up and let down my hand so she could pull into me and stand up.
She laughed "You think?" She asked, refusing to hold my hands as assistance as she stood up on her own. "Thank you Doctor Zach, Kids, let's go in!" She screamed as she walked away with the twins, holding them on both sides of her.
I was confused, watching her leave. Was she back to ignoring me? I thought we were onto something earlier, was I the only one who got the feeling?
I hissed as I returned the objects back into the kit before I picked it up and pushed the bike into the house. I could hear hers and the kids' voices as they watched television and sang along but I couldn't bring myself to walk in.
I got close to the door and leaned at the door frame. I was satisfied watching her as she laughed and jumped around the living room with the kids. Her laugh was the loudest and her voice the most pleasing thing at the time. It baffled me, how easily I was caught up, just mesmerized as I watched her just exist.
"Are you going to stand there forever?" I heard Jack's voice behind me. "What are you looking at?" He asked as I turned to look at him. His eyes bore into mine like a drill, he seemed to be upset about something.
"Oh Jack" I said, tinkering within my mind for what to say to him. I didn't want him to know who I had been looking at "Oh, the kids were singing along and I just had to clean up the bike before locking up" I explained.
"What's with the first aid kit? Did one of them get injured?" Jack asked as he locked the garage door.
I laughed "Nah, it was Nicole. The kids convinced her to ride the bike and she fell, it wasn't that serious though. It was nothing but a little scratch"
"Okay, let's go eat then" Jack replied as we both walked back into the house. His eyes were on me like glue to a board.
We got to the dining room and Leah was already setting the table.
"I hope you're joining us for dinner Nicole, don't stay cooked up in your room" Leah called to Nicole who was for some reason trying to sneak up the stairs.
"Me? I'm just going to shower. I had a long day" Nicole replied dryly.
"Nonsense" Lean exclaimed. "Dinner's almost ready, shower quick!"
Soon Leah was almost done with preparing the table. She had already made a lot of food that it felt like almost like some feast. Nicole yet had still not returned.
Our eyes flashed from one person to another.
"I'll go call her" I said suddenly.
"No. Let me." Nicole refused, and left the table for the stairs. The four of us sat quietly as we waited for both of them to return.
"My bet is on Leah dragging her ear downstairs" Jack laughed. It sounded to me a bit hollow.
"Nah, Nicole would be running down, Leah would chase," I countered.
It took a few seconds but then Nicole ran down the stairs as Leah chased her, the both of them laughing.
"Uncle Zach won!" One of twins shouted as Nicole dragged out her chair beside me.
"I'm sitting! I'm sitting" Nicole laughed and did not spare a single glance at me.
"You better be" Leah laughed as well, pulling a seat beside Jack. "What did Uncle Zach win?" Leah asked.
"It's just a fun game, we were both playing while we waited for you to bring Nicole down" Jack replied.
"More like we gambled on if you were going to drag her ears downstairs or if she would outrun you," I explained as I hoped it would cause Nicole to reply me.
Leah laughed "I guess Zach knows Nicole more now? The girl's a slippery one, always makes me catch my breath." Nicole remained silent, ignoring the conversation as a whole as she started putting food on her plate.
Dinner was delicious and conversation went well with the twins giving Leah and Jack a rundown of what had happened.
I noticed that Nicole wasn't talking to me, so I tried one last time to get her to.
"I don't have salt on my food" I said.
"Nicole please pass the salt to Zach" Leah instructed.
Nichole ignored. I was shocked and riled up at this. Leah had to repeat her words.
"Here" Nicole passed the salt, without staring at my face.
She had acted like she had not heard the first time. It had riled me up and I had kept my cool but we were going to have a conversation after dinner by all means.
