Izzy's breath came in ragged gasps as the dark energy swirled around her, tightening its grip with every passing second. She tried to pull away from it, tried to fight the suffocating pull of the power that was now coursing through her veins, but it was as if she were caught in a riptide, helpless to resist.
Her vision blurred, flashes of light and shadow colliding, swirling into a chaotic vortex. The room seemed to stretch and warp, the air thick with an unnatural heat. She could feel her heart pounding, faster, harder, as though the power within her was determined to break free.
"Focus, Izzy!" Danny's voice cut through the fog, harsh and desperate. She could barely hear him over the roar of the power filling the space. His form loomed in the haze, his eyes glowing bright red, an unsettling sight as the demon inside him began to stir again. "We need to regain control! Don't let it take over!"
But how could she focus when everything inside her was unraveling? The power that had once been Danny's was now part of her, and she had no idea how to control it. The force clawed at her insides, threatening to tear her apart.
Her hand, trembling uncontrollably, reached out toward Danny, but as their fingers brushed, an explosion of light erupted around them, knocking both of them backward. Izzy cried out as her body collided with the cold stone floor, the force of the blast sending shockwaves through the room.
"Stay with me, Izzy!" Danny shouted, his voice barely audible over the chaos. He was on his knees, struggling to regain his composure. His eyes flickered between their normal hue and the glowing red of the demon's influence.
But Izzy couldn't stay focused. The energy was too much. It was overwhelming, suffocating her, pulling her into the abyss.
She tried to speak, to call out, but her voice was lost in the storm. Instead, images began to flood her mind—visions of destruction, chaos, and power so immense that it threatened to consume everything in its path. She saw Danny, but not as the person she knew. The vision twisted him into something monstrous, a demon without mercy, without humanity.
"No…" she whispered, her eyes wide with terror. "Danny, this isn't you…"
But the figure in her vision smiled, its red eyes glinting with malice, as it stepped closer. "You're wrong, Izzy. This is who I've always been. You were just too blind to see it."
The demon laughed, a sound that sent chills down her spine, and Izzy felt herself sinking deeper, the darkness swallowing her whole. She could feel the power, the same power that had transferred to her, trying to tear her apart from the inside. She was losing herself. And there was nothing Danny could do to stop it.
Suddenly, she felt a sharp jolt in her chest—pain, raw and unrelenting. Her body bucked with the force, and her mind screamed in protest. The connection between her and Danny pulsed, sending a wave of agony through both of them. It was too much.
"Danny!" she gasped, struggling to breathe as the darkness grew stronger.
The demon's laughter echoed in her mind, and she could feel it taking root inside her, threatening to bury her humanity. She reached for him one last time, her hand trembling as she sought him out in the swirling abyss.
But Danny was no longer there.
He was gone, consumed by the very thing they had tried to control.
Izzy's heart sank as she realized the truth. Danny had already lost himself to the demon. The ritual had been a mistake. The power was never meant to be shared—it was too dangerous. And now, they were both trapped in a battle neither of them could win.
As the dark energy swirled around her, Izzy finally understood. The only way to stop the power from consuming them both was to let go—to sever the connection between them. But she didn't know how.
The pain intensified, and her vision went dark.
