From then on the road back the the capital was extremly smooth. The party members however were not relieved by this as they believed that the reason for such clear travel was because of a much more dangerous beast, that scared everyone away. What they, however didn't know was that, the reason they didn't encounter any monsters was because, before they could appear in sight, they were already killed by Dimitri.
"So, how long is this gonna take?" Charlotte asked.
"The journey between both cities is about six hours, but at our current pace and the fact that we've already walked four hours, we should arive in half an hour."
"Are you dumb?" Devon asked.
"W. Why?"
"You just said six hours, but now it's four and a half. Only an idiot would say something like that."
"No, no, the reason it usually takes six hours is because of constant monster fights. Since there are none, our time has decreased drastically."
"Ok." Devon said as he started flowing higher.
"Dimitri, Charlotte, come here, I can see the capital from here."
Dimitri and Charlotte then flew up, floating next to Devon. When they looked ahead they saw an astonishing sight.
"What a shit view." Devon remarked.
"Yeah, for an imperial city, isn't it supposed to be grand." Dimitri said.
"Yeah, our makeshift house is better than this." Charlotte added.
Before them stood a massive city, however for a imperial city it was incredibly bland. The only thing that stood out in this entire city, was just one massive castle. The rest of the houses were boring and had no colour.
"The only thing worth seeing is that castle, but even so, compared to our house, it's quite lacking." Charlotte said.
"Yeah, I suddenly feel that I want to turn around and go back home." Devon said.
"Hey, it might look boring, but maybe the people are great and that's this city's charm." Dimitri tried persuading.
"That might be true." Charlotte said.
"Well, we'll never know until we give it a shot." Devon added.
Then the three went back to the party of now three.
"So, where does your country place in terms of human kingdoms?" Devon asked the captain.
"Strongest, of course." The captain said with pride.
"What! That shitty city is the capital of the strongest empire among the humans. No wonder you needed help from people of other worlds." Devon said shocked.
"Huh? Shitty city?" The captain was dumbfounded.
"Drop it Devon." Dimitri ordered.
"Yeah, but that's probably the funniest joke I've ever heard." Devon said and then looked back at the captain.
"How many human kingdoms are there?" He asked.
"One." The captain said meekly in a voice slightly higher than a misquito.
Grinning Devon said:"What? I couldn't quite catch that."
"One okay, all the other kingdoms were destroyed by demons." The captain said quite loudly.
"So how can you..."
"Drop it, Devon." Dimitri ordered again.
"Fine."
"Oh look, you can barely see the capitals gate through the trees, which means we're about five minutes away." The captain said excitedly.
"Yes, we're finally home." The other two said.
