Chapter 22 - Sterling, that's awesome

"Using dark energy for personal use, the explanation is just too vague, isn't it?"

In the midst of contemplation, Sterling stumbled upon a realization within the talent system that an option called [Transformation] under the [Chosen One Talents] had been activated.

He clicked to view the explanation of [Transformation]:

[Transformation: Can use dark energy to transform matter into cards for storage, upgrading, merging, and other purposes]

"Oh, so that's what it's for."

Sterling suddenly understood and reached into his pocket, pulling out his phone. After a moment of thought, he decided to give it a try.

He aimed his phone at the system page and pressed the [Transformation] button.

A beam of infrared light suddenly appeared, scanning the phone up and down.

"Bang"

Suddenly, the phone turned into a card and appeared in Sterling's hand.

[Smartphone (Common)], a white card with no explanation.

Sterling flipped his wrist, and the card turned back into a phone. With a thought, the phone turned into a card again, and he noticed that 10 points of dark energy were consumed.

"Killing ten zombies just to transform a phone, what a waste."

He casually tossed the phone card into his system backpack, feeling that aside from the convenience of storage, it didn't have much use.

Just as Sterling wanted to study a bit more, Alice suddenly leaned out halfway, baring a set of pearly whites, and looked at Sterling with a grin.

"Handsome, the airport is ahead, are we still going to fight our way through?"

Reminded by her, Sterling looked into the distance.

The zombies outside the airport were no less than those in the city. It seemed that the highway was so quiet with few zombies because they were all gathered at the airport.

Standing on the car roof and with his enhanced vision, Sterling could clearly see the vast and dense swarm of zombies wandering outside the airport, inside and out, with hundreds, if not thousands, in his line of sight.

While Sterling was observing, the armored car at the front of the convoy had already plunged into the airport road, ramming and crushing zombies as it forged ahead.

"Still a bit of guts."

Sterling muttered, then crouched down and said:

"You go back, roll up the window, follow the convoy, and don't fall behind."

Now is not the time for individual heroism. Following the embassy convoy and catching the plane back home is the top priority.

...

"The lead car reports, the airport has fallen, initiate Plan B, repeat, initiate Plan B."

The lead car's warning echoed through the walkie-talkies in each vehicle. Upon hearing this, the embassy staff inside hurriedly calmed the crowd.

"Everyone, don't panic. The situation is critical, and in order to return home, we plan to hijack a passenger plane. Follow us and get on the plane as soon as possible, and I will take you home."

This was all pre-discussed. If the airport had not fallen, they would use their official status to requisition a passenger plane in the name of the country.

But if the airport had fallen, it saved a lot of trouble, and they would just hijack the plane. As for the consequences, they would deal with them once they were safely back home.

Led by the lead car, the convoy drove straight into the airport runway area, not caring about the barbed wire barrier, and just stepped on the gas to crash through.

"Boom"

The barbed wire at the airport runway was broken, and the armored car slammed on the brakes and made a sharp turn to stop horizontally.

"Move, move, move. Hurry up and go."

The walkie-talkie was urgent with commands, and one car after another drove in, the barbed wire scraping the zombies off the vehicles.

It wasn't until the last bus drove onto the airport runway that the armored car started up and used its body to block the part of the barbed wire that had been smashed.

The doors opened, and several embassy staff got out and ran.

"Move, move, go! Hurry up and go!"

Although they all had guns, they didn't have many bullets, and they retreated while firing at the zombies on the airport runway.

The damaged fence couldn't withstand the onslaught of the tidal wave of zombies, and soon after, the barbed wire collapsed, and the zombies poured in like a tide.

The convoy drove straight to the foot of a passenger plane, and the people of Country H scrambled out of their vehicles in a panic, their limbs weak with fear, stumbling as they climbed onto the plane.

"The elderly, children, and women get on the plane first, men stay behind!"

The embassy staff directed, and David cooperated with others to push the weak and vulnerable onto the plane first.

When it was almost time, David was about to board the plane when he was blocked by someone at the door who wouldn't let him in.

"You're covered in blood, who knows if you're infected or not, this plane doesn't welcome you! Get out!"

"This plane is full, you take another one!"

Several staff members blocked the door and wouldn't let David in.

"You guys are too despicable!"

David could only watch as they closed the plane's door.

The number of zombies rushing onto the airport runway was increasing, and a few nearby ones were also attacking with ferocity.

The embassy's evacuation operation involved a large number of people, and one plane was far from enough. Fortunately, there was a second one not far ahead, where embassy staff were already assisting the elderly, weak, and disabled onto the plane.

"Wait for me," David stumbled off the boarding ladder, gritting his teeth against the pain as he ran towards the second plane.

Embassy rescue team members stayed on the runway to fight the zombies in a desperate battle to protect the civilians and board the plane, buying as much time as possible for the people.

David ran clumsily, looking back three steps at a time, his eyes filled with despair.

"Ah! Get off me!"

A white-collar worker was knocked down by a zombie, kicking frantically with his feet to kick the zombie over. David rushed up and hit the zombie with a bat, then grabbed the white-collar worker and ran together.

"Run! Hurry up!"

A female embassy staff member, guarding the entrance to the boarding ladder, was sweating profusely in the chaos, shouting for them to run faster.

One by one, people boarded the plane. David, being overweight, was panting heavily after just a few steps and was left at the back, with several zombies chasing him. Just as they were about to catch up to David,

"Woo~"

A long motorcycle horn sounded, and a sedan was seen leaping over the fence, with a person holding a fire axe standing on top.

"Thud"

When the car landed, the chassis collided with the runway, causing sparks to fly from the friction.

The impact sent the person standing on top flying into the air, but he managed to twist and turn in mid-air, landing gracefully.

Such a cool entrance indeed created a significant momentum, drawing the attention of the zombies, who turned and rushed towards him.

David, running, happened to see this scene and gasped in admiration:

"Sterling, that's awesome!"

The coolness was just beginning; Sterling's speed was extreme, covering a hundred meters in less than 5 seconds, striking like lightning, and chopping down all the zombies that lunged at him.

The sedan spun in place, knocking all the pursuing zombies behind it, and its tires also ground against the ground, producing blue smoke.

At this moment, the first plane also entered the runway, accelerating, its nose lifting, and soaring into the sky.

Sterling didn't think much, pointed with his axe, and shouted:

"Get on the plane now!"

After saying that, he grabbed the car body and flipped onto the roof.

David, panting heavily, also boarded the plane, and the embassy female staff member hurriedly entered the cabin.

But the next second, they saw the most unwanted scene.
