After a strange encounter with Lila, Kaito feels his mind like a maze from which there is no way out.
Ambiguous memories keep bouncing back, then shattering, unable to reconnect into a complete image. The feeling of confusion was overwhelming, but deep in his heart, there was a strong urge that he could not explain-he had to find the truth.
Kaito walks through the crowded streets of Tokyo. It was a city he once thought was home, but now, every step he took made him feel like a stranger in the crowd. Everything is familiar but unfamiliar. The questions kept spinning in his head, as if they wanted to strangle him:
"Are these memories mine? What about me? How do I know I'm still myself in the midst of all this?" He couldn't answer. Everything around him was blurry, as if he was living in a parallel world that he couldn't fully understand.
Kaito stopped in front of a convenience store. He took out the phone in his pocket and opened the screen. Lila gave him this phone when he was bewildered, but it seemed to be of no value other than keeping in touch. While he scrolls through unread messages, a missed call appears on the screen "Gyokuryu Ryu" A name that sounds familiar but also unfamiliar. He couldn't remember the face of this person's nose, but this strangeness couldn't deny the vague connection.
Can't wait any longer. Kaito pressed the call back, deciding to see his old friend again, even though his memories were still faint.
The café where Ryu meets Kaito is located in a hidden corner of Tokyo. The space in the shop was warm, with the golden light pouring from the chandelier, but Kaito didn't feel the peace. A strange surprise suddenly struck when he saw his old friend waiting. The name "Gyokuryu Ryu" sounded in his head, but his face was a piece of the puzzle that couldn't be put into place.
"It's been a long time, Kaito," Gyokuryu Ryu said, his voice a little deep but something serious, making Kaito feel uneasy in his heart.
"You are... Gyokuryu Ryu, right?" Kaito asked, his eyes observing every detail, looking for confirmation.
Ryu nodded, but his eyes were filled with worry.
"Lila helped you, didn't she? I've heard about you. Nexus is not simply an ordinary organization. Everything you're facing, Kaito, isn't a coincidence."
Kaito looked at Gyokuryu Ryu, feeling that vague memories were starting to come back, but still unable to see the whole picture.
"Lila said I used to be part of the group that fought against the Nexus, but I don't remember anything. Can you help me?"
Ryu sighed, taking a sip of coffee before replying.
"You're not just their victim, Kaito. You're also... the key to solving it all. But I don't know how you'll react when you know the truth."
Kaito felt the tension in Gyokuryu Ryu's words.
"The key? What for?"
Ryu was silent for a long time, his eyes were sad, then stood up and turned to Kaito.
"You'll understand soon. Nexus doesn't just want to erase your memories, they want to control everything."
Before he could fully understand Ryu's words, the café suddenly swayed. The sudden explosion of gunfire made the space chaotic. Masked and armed men stormed into the shop, lunging straight at them.
Ryu didn't say anything, just quickly hid behind a nearby table. Customers and staff were panicking. Some people rushed into the corner of the room, while the staff quickly ran into the kitchen to hide. A few people tried to get out through the back door, but the situation was too chaotic.
Kaito didn't have time to care about them. You have to protect yourself.
Kaito felt bewilderment in his heart, but a part of him couldn't bear the hesitation. Kaito looked around, realizing that he had to act immediately. The feeling of confusion in his heart gradually subsided, replaced by a new determination. He was no longer a lost person, but a warrior facing death right in front of his eyes. Although his memories are incomplete, he feels that he is not weak at all. That feeling is stronger than ever.
Kaito saw the first attacker with a dagger rush towards him. His eyes flashed, and his body reacted automatically. He dodged to the left, lightning fast, grabbed a nearby chair and swung it hard at the attacker's head. A loud bang rang out as the chair touched his temple, causing him to fall on his back to the floor.
"One blow is enough, I don't need to kill him, just take him down," Kaito thought to himself, his heart not wavering.
Another man, armed with a gun, quickly approached and began firing. Kaito immediately rolled behind a nearby table. The bullet hissed through the air, hitting the table, but he managed to dodge it. Without thinking further, Kaito quickly used the table as a shield and rushed towards the second person. A hard kick to the knee caused him to collapse. Kaito immediately kicked his wrist hard, causing the gun to fall.
"Survive at all costs, have to use everything at your fingertips," a thought flashed through his mind.
The other two, one with a knife and the other with a gun, rushed forward at the same time. Kaito turned around like a whirlwind, used the table to block the blow, and then swung the chair towards the gunman. The chair slammed into his chest, causing him to stagger. Kaito didn't let him recover, lunged at the knife-wielding man, grabbed his wrist tightly, and swung around skillfully, slamming him to the floor.
"Faster, more precise, don't let fear get in the way," he told himself.
The leader of the group stood back, observing the defeated comrades. Kaito came forward, without hesitation for even a second. He drew his gun, aiming directly at Kaito. But he had prepared in advance, rushing up like a shadow, skillfully dodging bullets. In an instant, he grabbed the gun and punched him hard in the chest. The group leader fell to the ground, completely helpless.
"They never stop, but I will make them stop," Kaito's eyes lit up like fire.
Kaito stood in the café breathing heavily, his body aching after the battle. Everything around was chaotic. Tables and chairs were knocked over, blood stains were scattered everywhere. The screams, the sound of heavy breathing, and the shattering sound of broken discs echoed in space. He looked around, and realized that everything had changed.
Ryu Gyokuryu is no longer there. Kaito raised his eyes and saw that the customers, the staff and the lucky survivors were gradually calming down, but they were still confused and scared. Everyone hurriedly left, no one dared to stay any longer, as if they didn't want to be involved in this attack.
Kaito heard the sound of a police car in the distance. A feeling of tension rose in his body. He couldn't just stand still. He had to leave, he had to stay away from the questions. But he knows, this is not simple.
The police arrived quickly, blue and red cars parked in front of the café. The uniformed police officer stepped down and began investigating the scene. Kaito still stood still in the dark corner of the shop, observing everything, feeling like a stranger, an outsider.
A policeman walked in, looking around with a serious expression. He carefully observed every detail, from the blood stains to the shattered chairs. Then he approached Kaito, the only person left in the shop, and asked:
"You're the only one left here. Can you explain to us what happened?"
Kaito couldn't answer immediately. Vigilance and anxiety overwhelmed him. Although he was not the one who started the attack, he was the only one who survived, and this created a suspicion. He looked into the policeman's eyes, trying not to show any confusion, but he knew that he couldn't simply be silent.
Kaito took a deep breath, tried to stay calm, and said:
"That group of people... They attacked this café. I'm just defending myself."
The policeman didn't seem convincing. He looked around, then turned to Kaito again with a suspicious expression.
"You're the only one here at the moment. Is there anything you haven't told us?"
Kaito felt a burning sensation in his heart, but he could do nothing but keep quiet. The questions in his mind kept spinning:
"How can I explain everything when I don't even know myself?"
Meanwhile, café staff and some customers began to gather nearby, who were also being questioned by the police. These witnesses began to recount their stories, although their testimonies seemed very vague, only the chaotic images they witnessed.
Kaito stood there, unable to escape the feeling that he was suspicious. The eyes of witnesses, the sharp questions of the police, all made him feel watched, as if he were a suspect. He didn't know what to say. Part of him was bewildered, because he had no memory of his past, and could not prove that he was just an attacker.
Police continued to investigate the scene, collect evidence, and ask more questions from witnesses. But Kaito still stood silent, the feeling of being lost was getting deeper and deeper.
The feeling of being suspected gradually becomes an obsession. Sharp eyes from the police and witnesses were constantly focused on him. Before he could do anything, a tall policeman walked over, holding the handcuffs tightly on his waist.
"You follow us. We need more information about this incident," the officer said, his voice uncompromising.
Kaito was about to say something, but couldn't find the right words. He felt his whole body froze, and only nodded slightly. Part of him understood that, as the only person left at the scene, he had no other choice.
At the interrogation room Tokyo Police Department. The light in the interrogation room made things even more stifling. Four gray walls were empty, with only one table and two chairs facing each other. The policeman, who had questioned him at the scene, sat down across from him. His gaze was sharp as a knife, and his face did not show any emotion.
"Kamaji Kaito, right?" the police officer asked, flipping through the documents in front of him.
Kaito nodded, his gaze stopped on his hands, as if to avoid looking directly at the other party.
"Yes."
"Can you tell me in detail what happened at the café?"
Kaito looked up, his eyes flashing with embarrassment.
"I... just remember that they attack. I don't know who they are, and it's not clear why they're targeting me. I'm just defending myself."
The policeman frowned, put the pen down on the table, and his eyes searched.
"Self-defense? Do you defend yourself and defeat a fully armed group? Do you expect me to believe that?"
Kaito clearly sensed the doubt in his voice. Every word was like a hammer blow to his mind. But he couldn't say anything more. He didn't remember enough to explain.
"I... I don't mean to harm anyone," Kaito replied, his voice hoarse.
"They attack first."
The policeman did not immediately answer. He looked Kaito in the eyes, as if looking for a sign of a lie. After a few seconds of silence, he stood up, leaving the interrogation room, leaving Kaito alone in tension and confusion.
The door closed, and Kaito was alone in the interrogation room. He sat there, the light on the ceiling seemed to pierce through his mind, reflecting all the unanswered questions.
