Aiden's POV
Today felt unusually quiet, and something felt off. I'd been staring blankly at my computer screen for the past six minutes, my mind a million miles away. Meetings and conversations had been a blur, with me nodding and responding on autopilot. I'd catch myself zoning out, staring at people like they were speaking gibberish or an alien language.
I shook my head, trying to clear the mental fog. What was wrong with me? Was I just stressed or was something more going on?
Just as I was starting to focus on my work again, my phone rang, shrill in the silence. I hesitated for a moment before answering, my heart sinking as I saw Grandfather Wellington's name on the screen.
"Aiden," I said, trying to sound more alert than I felt.
"Aiden, it's Grandfather," his familiar voice said, laced with a hint of worry.
