Waitstaff in crisp uniforms moved seamlessly between the elegantly set tables, while a soft symphony filled the air. The guests had started trickling in, each arrival a statement of power, influence, and wealth.
I stood by the grand staircase, dressed in a sleek black gown that hugged my figure perfectly. The emerald pendant Aiden had gifted me rested against my collarbone, catching the light every so often. I was here to oversee everything, to ensure the evening flowed flawlessly.
