Ethan looked at his watch, his heart pounding. 3:05 a.m. Only 9 minutes left until the predicted disaster.
Dr. Jin spoke calmly, but his eyes showed urgency. "We have to get to the clock tower now," he said, grabbing his bag and leaving the office.
Ethan followed him carefully, his mind full of questions. What would they do when they reached the bell tower? Could they really prevent disaster from happening?
Darkness seemed to envelop them as they ran through the school. The clock tower seemed to glow like a ghost's eye at night.
Dr. King stood at the door of the bell tower, his hand on the door. "Are you ready, Ethan?"
Ethan nodded, his heart pounding. "I was born ready," he said, trying to sound braver than he was.
Dr. Jin smiled, pain in his eyes.
After saying that, he opened the door and entered. Ethan followed him, his mind alert as he entered the bell tower.
The air inside smelled of old stone and dust. A bell rang in the hallway and Ethan's skin prickled.
Dr. King led him to a door marked "Authorized Personnel Only." He took out his key card and scanned it on the card reader. The door opened, revealing a narrow staircase that led to the bell tower.
"Are you ready to see the truth?" Dr. King asked, his eyes shining with excitement.
Ethan nodded, his heart pounding. "Let's do it," he said, following Dr. King down the stairs..
