"So awkward!!"
These three words had completely occupied Shi Ci's mind.
Following her master's instructions, she had come to deliver something to the leader of the Xiaoyao Sect. After setting out early in the morning, she finally arrived by evening. She had just successfully completed her mission when, stepping out, she found herself amidst a bustling crowd...
Shi Ci was an avid reader who cherished quietude and had a fondness for scenic beauty. The Xiaoyao Sect was famous far and wide for its breathtaking landscapes and numerous wonders. Naturally, her first instinct was to escape the crowd and seek a tranquil spot to appreciate the beauty of dusk.
Wandering away, she found herself by a secluded riverbank. To her pleasant surprise, she stumbled upon a mesmerizing scene.
Beneath the setting sun, on the grassy riverside, stood a young man clad in white, holding a book in his hands, deeply engrossed in its contents. The breeze gently rustled his robes and tousled his hair. His gaze was fixed on the book, earnest and devout.
Shi Ci was instantly captivated. She felt an urge to approach him, to become part of this picturesque scene.
As a book lover herself, she was familiar with that sense of total immersion in a good read. She was thrilled to have encountered someone who shared her passion.
Even so, her happiness was tempered by curiosity, a curiosity sparked by a single line she caught sight of:
"She fled, he pursued, neither could escape their fate."
Shi Ci longed to know what book the young man was reading, what story had evoked such a poignant sentence. This desire drew her closer, and before she knew it, she was standing right behind him.
It was in that moment that another thought struck her.
The setting sun, the grassy riverside, the gentle breeze, a young man and a young woman...
Wasn't this the kind of scene one would only read about in novels?!
The classic moment where the male and female protagonists meet for the first time!
Thinking of this, for some reason, Shi Ci suddenly felt her heart pounding wildly.
The worst part was that the young man noticed her presence and turned his head to glance at her...
Shi Ci was completely dumbfounded. That profile—how could it be so stunningly handsome?!
Her heart raced faster and faster, as if it were about to leap out of her chest. Her face grew unbearably hot, as though set ablaze.
Especially when the young man suddenly sat up and looked directly at her.
She felt as though her heart had jumped to her throat...
There was no other reason—this scene was simply too beautiful.
But once she managed to calm down, a wave of boundless yearning surged in her heart.
She wanted more.
She wanted more of the fluttering sensation she'd just felt, wanted to get to know the young man before her, wanted to create an even more perfect picture with him!
"But if I say something now, it'll be so awkward..."
Thinking this, she lowered her head even further, sneaking glances at Mo Bai.
"Someone like you, reading so leisurely in this kind of setting and making such profound story remarks—surely you understand what I'm hoping for, right?"
She kept lowering her head while continuing to cast shy glances in his direction, over and over again.
Of course, Mo Bai, with the whimsical soundtrack playing in his mind, immediately understood her intention without her saying a word.
But as he pictured the scene, he felt so awkward he wanted to dig a giant mansion into the ground with his toes.
"At least don't repeat that line! Even if it doesn't have the same effect, at least it won't be so embarrassing!"
With this thought, Mo Bai slapped the book in his hand and opened his mouth to speak:
"Phew~"
Just then, a gust of wind swept past, and a soft, clear voice sounded behind him:
"Today's wind... is rather noisy, isn't it?"
The whimsical soundtrack playing in Mo Bai's mind froze instantly.
Mo Bai: (꒪⌓꒪)
His mind went completely blank.
He never, ever expected this girl to actually say that line...
Then his body began to tremble as he pressed his lips tightly together, struggling to hold back.
He was terrified that if he let his guard down for even a second, he'd burst out laughing on the spot.
AT this moment,Mo Bai could more or
less guess what was going through the girl's mind:
"Dear heavens,I want to die. What is this? It's not even because I'm embarrassed _I
just purely want to die....."
His eyes flicked subtly to the side, and sure enough, the girl had her head lowered.Out of the corner of his eye,he clearly noticed that her ears had turned
Completely red.
The excitement in her eyes vanished, replaced by an emotion that was hard to describe. She quickly turned her head away and clutched her chest.
She understood now—she completely understood!
This boy was feeling sorrowful over the story he had just read!
"I should comfort him," she thought, "but I can't disrupt the atmosphere."
Catching sight of this through his peripheral vision, Mo Bai shivered all over.
This girl—she wasn't just similar to the literary heroines in books; she was exactly the same!
"Good grief, this girl is excited. She's absolutely thrilled…"
Halfway through that thought, Mo Bai froze—because Shi Ci moved.
She took a few steps closer to him, leaving barely a meter between them.
At this distance, he could even catch the faint, peculiar fragrance emanating from her.
Mo Bai had to admit, when this girl had first shown up, he'd been a little pleased. After all, being noticed by a beautiful girl—how could that not be a satisfying experience?
But this dialogue? It was way too awkward for him to handle! He couldn't take it anymore!
"I just want to go back to the real world already!"
At this moment, he fully understood the feelings of the protagonists in such situations. He didn't want to stay even one second longer—it was just too awkward!
Just as he was about to stand up, Shi Ci beat him to it.
She lifted her right hand slightly, brushing back her wind-blown hair, her gaze turning melancholic as she said:
"This wind will turn into wings… and catch up to everything."
Mo Bai: "…"
