Occult Research Club:-

When I arrived at the ORC, the door was cracked open. Peeking inside, I saw Akeno standing between Kiba and Koneko.

Koneko looked like she was one wrong word away from throwing hands, and Kiba was leaning against the wall, trying to look unbothered.

I hesitated for a second, then stepped inside. All eyes turned to me immediately. Without wasting any time, I walked straight behind Koneko, using her as a shield before speaking.

"Sorry, Kiba," I said, my voice steady. "I can't return those feelings. I love Koneko."

Koneko's expression softened, and she smiled, clearly pleased with my words.

Kiba exhaled through his nose, standing upright again. "That's fine. I get it. I hope we can still be friends."

Before I could respond, Koneko spoke up, her voice sharp. "Don't do it again, or I'll punch you in the balls so hard you'll never be able to use them again."

EveShirone paled.

Kiba visibly gulped. "Noted."

Just then, the door burst open, and Issei walked in, completely oblivious to the tension in the room.

"What'd I miss?"

EveShirone stared at him for a moment before Akeno started laughing softly.

I shook my head. "You missed enough."

The room was filled with casual conversation until Rias's announcement drew my attention.

"We should go get the two of you a familiar," Rias said, looking at me and Issei with a cheerful smile.

I glanced up from my seat beside Koneko.

Issei practically jumped out of his chair. "Yes!"

I raised an eyebrow at him before turning to Rias. "Wait—can I even make a contract with one?"

Rias nodded confidently. "Yes, you can."

Before I could ask more, the doors to the room opened, revealing Sona and the rest of the Student Council stepping inside.

"Ah, Sona. Good to see you again," Rias greeted her with a polite smile.

Sona returned the greeting with a nod. "Yes, it is. It seems you've added another servant to your peerage."

Rias gestured to Issei. "Yes, this is Issei. He's my pawn."

"Wait—how does she know we're devils?" Issei asked, clearly confused.

I smirked at him. "Dude, she's a devil too."

Sona adjusted her glasses. "Yes, I am. Oh, and congratulations on becoming the school's punisher, Shiro."

At that, eveShirone turned to look at me.

"Thanks," I said casually, though the sudden attention was making me a little uncomfortable.

Sona gestured to the boy standing beside her. "This is my pawn, Saji."

I looked at him. The guy was practically oozing arrogance as he gave us all a smug look.

"Oh, sweet! You're a pawn too!" Issei said, reaching out to shake his hand.

Saji scoffed and crossed his arms. "Please don't think we're in the same league. I took four pawn pieces."

I rolled my eyes at his tone. "Hey, dumbass."

Saji's gaze snapped to me, clearly annoyed.

"He took eight," I said, pointing at Issei. "Get your facts straight before you go making yourself look like an idiot. Then again, maybe that's just natural for you, considering you never bother to get all the facts before acting."

Sona sighed, already expecting this from me. "Are you still holding a grudge?"

I pouted, crossing my arms. "He wouldn't even listen to my side of it."

The girls in the room giggled at my reaction until Saji decided to push his luck.

"So, what piece did you take?" he asked, directing his attention to me.

"None," I replied without hesitation.

Saji blinked. "Huh?"

"I said none, dipshit. I'm human."

Saji scoffed. "Then what's a lowly ass-muncher like you doing here?"

I didn't give him time to regret those words. In an instant, I rushed him. No one even saw me move until my foot came down on his back, pinning him to the floor.

Saji struggled to breathe under my weight.

"I'm sorry—what was that? I couldn't hear you over the sound of you eating dirt." I smirked and leaned in. "Did you seriously call me an ass-muncher? Where the hell did you even come up with that? One thing's clear, though—I'm not the lowly one here. That title belongs to the guy under my foot."

I stepped off him and casually returned to my seat beside Koneko, who gave me an approving nod.

Rias cleared her throat, bringing the attention back to the matter at hand. "We were just about to go get familiars for Issei and Shiro."

Sona frowned slightly. "That complicates things. I was hoping to get Saji one as well."

Rias smirked. "How about we settle this with a game of tennis? Winner gets to go first."

Sona adjusted her glasses, her competitive side showing. "Agreed."

….

When we returned home, I saw Asia sitting on the couch watching TV while Alucard was meditating in the corner. They both noticed us as we stepped inside.

Asia turned her attention to us first. "How was your day?"

"Fine," I said with a shrug, setting my bag down.

"Good," Koneko added before shooting me a questioning look. "Also, Ryo, why'd you join the student council?"

I scratched the back of my head. "Well, because a club is mandatory, and, honestly, I didn't really like any of the others."

Koneko folded her arms, narrowing her eyes at me. "Don't get tricked."

I rolled my eyes. "Please, I'm too smart to be tricked."

Koneko raised an eyebrow. "I have a list of times you've been tricked. You might be smart, but you're also easily manipulated."

I sighed in defeat. "Fine, you win."

Before she could press further, I grinned. "You girls wanna see another magic trick?"

Koneko groaned, clearly remembering my last 'magic trick.' "I swear, if it's like that blacksmith thing…"

Asia, on the other hand, clapped her hands excitedly. "Yeah!"

I smirked and waved them outside. "Follow me, ladies."

We stepped out into the backyard, and I pulled out the alchemist set from my inventory. Tossing it near the blacksmith garage, I pressed the activation button.

Smoke exploded around the area, and when it cleared, a new garage had appeared, seamlessly connected to the blacksmith shop. A door had been added, linking the two spaces.

I turned to see Asia staring with wide eyes, completely awestruck, while Koneko barely looked impressed.

I grinned at her reaction and pulled out the jeweler set, repeating the process on the other side of the blacksmith shop.

Another garage appeared, connected by a door, creating a full workshop area. Everything I needed was now in one place, but I made a mental note that, if I wanted to open an actual business, I'd need a proper shop in town.

Koneko shook her head and turned toward the house. "Okay, I need to get dinner ready."

Asia lingered, looking between the new rooms and me. "Mind if I watch you work? I mean, if you don't mind…"

I smiled. "Uh, okay. Sure."
