Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: First Day!

Taking a deep breath, I decided to test out my newly acquired skill.

"Let's see what this can do," I murmured. Focusing, I activated [Instant Dungeon Create].

The moment I did, an ominous voice echoed in my head.

[Dungeon Created: Difficulty Level - Easy.]

As the dungeon materialized around me, I saw a figure shambling toward me—a zombie.

"Let's test this out," I muttered, raising my hand. Sparks crackled across my palm, and with a flick of my wrist, I unleashed the skill.

The electricity surged forward, striking the zombie. It collapsed instantly, smoke rising from its lifeless body. As it hit the ground, several items appeared briefly before disappearing.

Opening my inventory, I noticed the loot: a well-crafted katana.

Curious, I used [Observe] on it, and a screen appeared:

[Observe]

Class B Katana

A katana capable of channeling magic. It can manipulate elements such as Sparks and Flames.

"Now that's useful," I said, gripping the blade tightly.

Suddenly, I noticed something else spawning nearby. A figure cloaked in dark robes appeared. I quickly used [Observe] again.

[Observe]

Name: ???

Race: Witch

HP: 100/100

MP: 500/500

Before I could finish reading the details, she hurled a fireball at me. I dodged to the side, but the edge of the flame grazed my arm.

[New Skill Acquired: Flame Resistance – Level 1/100]

"Alright," I muttered, rolling to my feet. "Let's do this."

The witch relentlessly launched fireball after fireball, but I kept dodging, circling around her. Finally, I leapt into the air and swung my katana with all my strength. The blade cut cleanly through her neck, and her body collapsed.

Her staff glowed briefly before disappearing into my inventory. But before I could catch my breath, more zombies and witches began spawning around me.

….

"Pant… Damn it… pant," I gasped, leaning on my katana for support. "Those zombies are easy enough, but those damn witches are on another level…"

Exhausted, I exited the dungeon. Back in the safety of my home, I collapsed onto the couch and opened my stats screen.

I opened my inventory to organize the mess of items that had accumulated. Everything was randomly scattered, so I sorted it alphabetically to make things easier.

Suddenly, a new notification appeared:

[Quest: Find out where you are.]

Rewards: 2000 EXP / A Skill Book / $1000 / A Set of Equipment

Accept: Yes/No

Without hesitation, I accepted the quest.

Just then, another letter fluttered down. I grabbed it and read the message:

[To Shiro,

I left your school uniform in the first drawer of your bedroom dresser.]

I headed to my room and opened the drawer. My breath caught as I saw the uniform—it was strikingly familiar.

Frowning, I opened my stats again and focused on a detail I had overlooked earlier.

[Sacred Gear: None]

My eyes widened in realization. "No way… I'm in High School DxD!?"

As the truth dawned on me, another notification appeared.

[Quest Completed: Your items have been added to your inventory.]

A rush of energy followed as I leveled up three more times. Opening my stats again, I saw the updates:

Exhausted, I flopped onto my bed, only for another letter to fall onto my chest. I sighed and opened it.

The letter in my hands carried another message:

[To Shiro,

I've enrolled you in Kuoh Academy. Trust me, you'll love it there. Also, there are going to be a lot of differences from the anime you're familiar with.]

I sighed, placing the letter aside. "Well, this just keeps getting better."

With no energy to process more surprises, I let myself drift off to sleep.

….

The next morning, I awoke to the familiar ping of a quest notification.

[Quest: Get to school on time.]

Rewards: 100 EXP / One Random Skill Book / $500

Stretching, I quickly got out of bed, changed into my uniform, and made my way out the door toward Kuoh Academy.

….

When I arrived at the academy, I froze for a moment. The school was massive, far larger than it had seemed in the anime. Students bustled around the entrance, chatting and laughing, and the entire place exuded an air of prestige.

As I walked through the gates, a girl passed me. Her sharp gaze felt like it pierced straight into my soul.

"That's… unnerving," I muttered. My instincts kicked in, and I activated [Observe].

[Observe]

Name: Sona Sitri

Before I could gather more information, she walked too far away, disappearing into the crowd. Shaking my head, I focused on finding my classroom, but the massive building soon had me wandering aimlessly.

….

I sighed, frustrated. "I'm completely lost."

Just then, I felt a tap on my shoulder. Turning around, I saw a boy about my age. I instinctively used [Observe] again.

[Observe]

I exhaled in relief. "Okay, so I'm definitely at the beginning of Season 1. Thank God."

The boy smiled. "You must be the new transfer student."

"Yes," I admitted. "Sorry, I got lost. I'm not familiar with this place at all."

Saji chuckled. "It's fine. This school is pretty huge. Follow me—I'll take you to the student council room to get your schedule."

Grateful, I followed him.
