Chapter 10 - Adam’s Wrath

The morning Sarah dreaded had arrived. Two bulky werewolves barged into the prison, unlocked the chains that were wrapped around her wrists and ankles, and brought her out. She was led to a gathering of werewolves, male and female alike.

Her eyes roamed around, trying to check for escape routes, but there was none. Even if there was, none of the werewolves would let her escape. They numbered hundred, with a few leading figures in the middle of the gathering.

The Alphas were present, except the dead Marcus, who had been replaced by his Beta, Marcel. There was a huge bed in the middle of the gathering, a testament to the mating ritual.

Akua was also present. She ensured her position was very much close to Sarah's, and her action was totally ignored by everyone. Lydia's gaze wormed into the gathering. "Who wants to mate with this human and usher our kind into a new era?"

The unmated werewolves, unaware of the implication of mating with Sarah, were excited. With their eagerness clouding their emotions, they rushed forward.

After a few arguments, a werewolf at the forefront was chosen.

Sarah was thrown to the bed. Her eyes were already watery as she folded her arms and legs, denying anyone the opportunity of breaking past her hymen. She trembled as the werewolf grabbed her legs, with the intention of forcefully parting them.

She kicked him furiously, forgetting that she was just a weak human. The werewolf struck her face, plastering a bruise on it and stunning her. As he wanted to take advantage of her body condition, his head fell off his shoulders and blood sprayed out of his neck, staining the bedcover and the surrounding werewolves.

The sudden beheading of the chosen werewolf sent shockwaves through the gathering. The werewolves gasped in unison, their eyes fixed on the lifeless body. When they all thought the storm had died down, a sudden gust of wind swept through the gathering, sending werewolves flying.

The sound of snapping bones and tearing flesh filled the air. Screams filled the atmosphere. The Alpha werewolves looked around, confused and disoriented, unsure of what was happening. It seemed as though the wind was attacking them.

More werewolves fell, their bodies torn apart by an invisible force. The gathering erupted into chaos, with werewolves running wildly in all directions.

Akua, who had been watching from the sidelines, looked around with cautiousness inhabiting her eyes. She sensed a powerful presence, but she couldn't see anyone, the figure was just too fast. Even the Alpha werewolves couldn't figure out the erratic movements of their attacker.

Just as suddenly as it had begun, the attack stopped. The werewolves slowly regrouped, their eyes scanning the area for any sign of their attacker.

That was when Adam appeared, his suit and fedora hat stained with blood. His eyes gleamed with a fierce intensity, and his presence seemed to command attention.

The werewolves unconsciously retreated a few steps backwards, trying their possible best to avoid the demon before their eyes. He walked leisurely towards the crowd with his fiery eyes making them back off.

Lydia knew this didn't spell good for the allied packs so she took a step forward. Adam's eyes locked onto Lydia's, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still. He felt a sudden jolt of recognition, as if his soul had awakened. His wolf, which had been dormant for centuries, stirred within him, its voice whispering a single word. "Mate."

Adam's gaze roamed over Lydia's face, taking in the sharp angles and fierce determination etched on her face. He felt an inexplicable pull towards her, as if an unnatural force was drawing them together.

Lydia felt the same thing Adam did. Her wolf whined in joy and almost took control over Lydia. As their gazes collided, she felt a shiver run down her spine. For a moment, they simply stared at each other, oblivious to the presence of others.

Adam's wolf growled softly, urging him to claim his mate. But, Adam brushed it off. He had never felt this way before, and he didn't know how to process the emotions swirling within him.

Lydia, sensing Adam's hesitation, took a step forward. Her eyes flashed with an uncanny intensity, and her voice was husky. "Who are you?" She demanded, her voice dripping with challenge.

Adam's gaze never wavered. "I am Adam." He replied, his voice low and smooth. "And, you must be Lydia, the leading werewolf of the Lunar Council. Honestly, you're very stupid."

Lydia's anger almost flared up but she awaited her enemy's reason.

"Vampires cannot walk in daylight. Werewolves will lose control during the night of a full moon. Why do you think nature cursed these creatures? To create a supernatural balance, of course. You let yourself be deceived by the witches, do you really think the stupid lie they weaved is enough to break the curse on the werewolves. The truth is this, the witches are clearly toying with the werewolves and vampires."

Lydia grew confused. "What are you talking about?" She demanded, her voice menacing.

Adam smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "You really don't know, do you?" He said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "The witches are using you, Lydia. They are manipulating you, they don't care about the curse on the werewolves. They are using you to further their own agenda."

He continued. "They want to awaken Amon, an ancient witch who will grant them unimaginable power and usher them into a new era. Even if I didn't come, Sarah wouldn't be endangered. Akua had planned to save her from the mating ritual from the onstart."

Akua's eyes widened in shock, she was curious about how he discerned the true motives of the Witch Council. She didn't plan to ruin the facade, just because she was accused. "He's clearly lying, so that you can't carry out the ritual. He said I planned to save Sarah. How is that possible? How would I escape the encirclement of a hundred werewolves? Don't fall for his tricks."

With a swift motion, Adam reached out and grabbed Sarah, pulling her close to his side.

Everyone was shocked by his monstrous speed, even vampires couldn't move as fast as he did. The most surprised was Lydia, for she already knew that he was a werewolf, due to their bond. She wondered how he, a werewolf, was able to move so fast.

"Why should I play tricks? Only weaklings do that. I'm strong, I don't need to play tricks. Rescuing Sarah from the whole lot of you is a simple task. Lydia, check the exact position of the witch, remove the shrubs and leaves, you'll find something interesting." He explained, his tone laced with certainty.

"I think it's high time we left." He said, his eyes scanning the gathering. By the time they realized the meaning of his sentence, Adam and Sarah were already gone.
