Lasandra stood unfazed as the Iglod slowly stalked towards us. Drool fell from its mouth, and hunger showed deep in its eyes.
I focused on the beast, and my Golden Eye showed me different ways it could move.
According to my eyes, It seemed hesitant to attack, perhaps aware of the danger that Lasandra imposed, as none of the visions were of the creature attacking.
It just continued to stalk towards or circle around us.
Lasandra hadn't brought her giant sword with her, but she seemed confident enough without it.
"It's on the defensive. It will not attack, not yet," I said hoping to help, earning a look from Lasandra, as she most likely wondered how I was so confident.
Then, tired of waiting, she went on the offensive.
Creating a circle with her fingers and thumbs, Lasandra aimed it at the beast and looked through it as though it were a telescope.
Suddenly, a wave of colorless energy that seemed to ripple through the air harmlessly splashed into the creature. It travelled slowly, like a blown bubble.
At first, it seemed to have no effect. But over time, the angry look on the face of the Iglod began to become droopy, before it finally became docile.
"Come here," Lasandra snapped, and the beast obeyed as it stalked towards us. I was still worried, untrusting of such a formidable beast, but as it arrived in front of Lasandra on the stone slab, it stood and did nothing.
"Lower your head," she said, and the beast did, until it stood eye to eye with her. Then, with mind-blowing speed, she drew back her arm and slapped the creature in the face with all her might.
The sound was sharp, as the beast's head flew from its shoulders, and as it did, the carcass slowly began to freeze until it was completely encased in an icicle.
The head was the only thing left unfrozen as it flew through the trees, spraying red blood in its path.
After the beast had completely frozen, it shattered and fell apart, disintegrating onto the map of Arnos.
What an incredible ability. And she has managed to do it without giving away many of its details. Is it only able to be used on creatures, or could she somehow control the gods as well? And that ray of energy that caused the control, how far can she shoot it from? And how large is the impact zone? Not to forget the insane strength and speed of her attack. It seemed faster than Diogen, but not quite the speed of Zir.
I concluded that she was strong. At least to my standard.
Lasandra watched as I racked my brain over what I had just seen, and she let out a bellowing laugh.
"It's always interesting to see the new gods' reactions to the other gods powers. And to think, there is still so much you are yet to learn, yet to see. I look forward to when you meet Paladrix, the sixth god. His blessings are truly something."
Paladrix. I'm slowly learning the names of the others.
"Now then, this isn't the only reason I brought you out here," she said as she looked down at the map once again. "There is something that I wish for you to do. Not only for me, but for yourself as well."
She made her way over to a part of the map where her own name was engraved. Then, she pointed to a spot that did not seem far from it.
"I have yet to tell you about the demigods. They are believers of one of the main gods who, through a ritual, can be granted a small part of their powers. This allows them to use certain blessings, though they are usually much weaker than us."
Such a concept only showed me how little I knew of the world. I pictured battles being waged, god against god, both with demigods on their sides. Such a scene would be catastrophic. A war.
"There is much more you will learn about them with time, however, what I am about to speak of is related to domains. The demigods are able to create ones of their own, though again, they are much weaker than the ones created by us.
Where I'm pointing, I believe a demigod has set up a domain. Unique beasts roam from there, as they do in all domains, and have been making their way to my land. I do not know who the demigod worships, but he is definitely not an ally, and the beasts have been pestering me."
She stopped pointing at the map and turned to address me.
"I want you to wipe out the demigod and his domain. It will give you a chance to become stronger and work towards earning your second blessing, as well as strengthening your first."
The idea seemed sound. I had confidence that I would be able to deal with a demigod.
If I can't do something like that, then there is no way I'll be able to defend myself from Zir, or any of the other gods.
"I'm in," I said without hesitation, and Lasandra smiled.
"Good, then you can head out now. The location is not far. The only reason I have not dealt with the demigod myself is because it was hardly worth my time. I only battle with the big gods."
The way she said the words felt harsh, but I could not say anything in my defense. I was not yet strong enough to fight the "big gods." Or at least, not any of the gods I had met so far.
Maybe the woman who first arrived on the rooftop before fleeing at Zir's arrival... Actually, no. She knew how to fly. What am I thinking?
"I will lead you to the edge of the forest and tell you where to go from there. If you sprint, it will not take you long. You will find that you're much faster than usual, a passive power granted to gods."
