Kaida struggled to keep her balance as the chamber quaked, her mind racing with questions. The older version of herself stood unmoving, her expression unreadable.
"What do you mean by 'the fate of everyone'?" Kaida shouted over the growing roar.
The older Kaida extended a hand. "The Tower doesn't just test you; it shapes you. It takes your desires, your fears, and twists them into a choice. You've already started the path, but the end depends on your resolve."
Before Kaida could respond, the chamber floor cracked open, and she fell once again. This time, she landed softly in what appeared to be a field of golden grass stretching endlessly in every direction.
The air was eerily still, and the only sound was the faint rustling of the grass. In the center of the field stood two doors, both shimmering with an otherworldly light.
One door was marked with a symbol of an open hand, radiating warmth and light. The other bore a clenched fist, surrounded by shadows and flickering flames. Between the doors hovered a small, glowing orb, pulsing gently like a heartbeat.
The older Kaida's voice echoed in her mind. "These are the doors of truth and sacrifice. One leads to salvation, but at a cost. The other grants power, but with a price you may not bear. The orb holds your essence—your soul. Choose wisely."
Kaida approached the orb, her reflection shimmering on its surface. As she reached out, memories of her brother, their laughter, and the pain of his disappearance filled her mind.
Her hand trembled. "What if I choose wrong?"
The voice whispered again. "There is no wrong choice, only the consequences of your will."
Kaida stood frozen, torn between the two paths, knowing that her decision would ripple far beyond herself.
