Lester was momentarily stunned. He really didn't appreciate students making light of such a serious situation by playing pranks.
However, in the end, he chose not to interfere with Eric's decision. If this was the path Eric had chosen for himself, there was little Lester could do to change it.
"Alright, then. It's settled." Lester wrote Eric's name in the Magic User column and then sealed the folder.
With the registration officially closed, Eric became the third Magic User after Lilith and Alicia.
Kevin and the others immediately lost their smiles, their expressions darkening. A boy shook his head repeatedly. "He's gone mad. After taking so much abuse, has he finally snapped?"
Kevin narrowed his eyes. "Is this idiot really crazy, or is he faking it? I can't tell."
He slapped a red-haired boy beside him on the shoulder. The red-haired boy turned to him. "Boss, this idiot's gone nuts. Should we still bother with him?"
"Of course we're going to bother with him. Besides what happened before class, this idiot even tried to steal my thunder." Kevin replied coldly, picking up a pair of boxing gloves from his desk and putting them on.
The red-haired boy pulled out a knuckle duster.
Kevin said, "After school, you and the others wait for me at the school gate."
"Got it, boss." the red-haired boy replied.
Once the important registration was completed, Lester gave a few parting words to the class and left.
Eric stood up, planning to leave the school as well.
As per his plan, he was going to the Magic Guild in the afternoon to officially apply to become a Magic User.
The rest of the class also began to leave. The end of the term was always busier than usual.
Those who had signed up for the exam were doubling down on their training, while those who hadn't were focusing on planning their futures. Even though it was still midday, most students were heading out.
At that moment, a delicate hand suddenly grabbed Eric's wrist.
Eric looked up in surprise to see Alicia. "What are you doing?" he asked, his face shifting to confusion.
Alicia's expression was serious. "Shut up, and come with me. You offended Kevin. Do you really think you can leave the school safely?"
Before Eric could react, Alicia pulled him along, dragging him out of the classroom.
Eric's expression flickered with confusion. He didn't know what Alicia was up to, but since she mentioned Kevin, Eric had been on alert about that.
His original plan was to use his magic to deal with Kevin indirectly, avoiding direct confrontation. He just needed to stir things up enough so that, in the vicinity of the school, Kevin and his cronies wouldn't dare make a move.
If it really comes to it, he could always use a move like Ripples of Water to make a quick escape.
"What are you trying to drag me off to?" Eric asked.
Alicia didn't stop walking. She glanced back at him with a cold, piercing stare. "You attention-seeking fool, troublemaker. I can't believe I ever thought you were someone steady and reliable."
"Is that so?" Eric narrowed his eyes. "So, you've changed your opinion now?"
"Hmph. How are you even more childish than Kevin and his group of boys? You pick fights with people you can't handle, and then boast about it in public. Did the humiliation finally get to your head?" Alicia said, clearly exasperated.
As they spoke, they reached the school gates.
Alicia came to a stop, and Eric squinted. "Where are you taking me?"
Alicia stared ahead, not looking at him. "If I weren't the class president, I wouldn't bother with you. But Kevin and his crew are definitely looking for you. So, get in my car."
As she finished speaking, a luxurious black limousine rolled toward them.
The sleek, streamlined body of the car gleamed under the sunlight, its black surface shining like obsidian.
On the front, a prominent family crest was displayed—a blue butterfly with its wings spread wide.
Eric's eyes widened in surprise. This was the first time in his life he had seen a car so extravagant.
It seemed that Alicia's family was indeed a prestigious one.
The rear door of the car opened, and a maid in a uniform respectfully greeted Alicia.
Alicia got into the car and turned back to Eric. "What are you staring at? Get in the car."
Eric thought for a moment. Using this method to leave the school would save him time and avoid further trouble, so he got in.
Inside the car, the space was vast, the seats soft and comfortable. A faint scent of perfume lingered in the air.
Eric sat next to Alicia. She pointed to the maid sitting across from them. "This is Mary, our family's maid."
Mary gave a small bow. "You must be the young lady's classmate. Hello."
Eric glanced at her, silently marveling at how refined and dignified everything around him was. "Hello."
The car was quiet for a while. Alicia stared out the window at the passing cityscape—tall buildings, the sprawling urban landscape.
The afternoon sunlight filtered through the window, casting a warm glow on her profile, highlighting her delicate features.
Her slender fingers lightly tapped the armrest, producing a soft tap tap sound.
Eric broke the silence. "Class president, thank you. You helped me today, and I promise I will protect you in the future."
Alicia didn't take it seriously. She just gave him a calm glance. "Is that so? Where do you want to get off when we get there?"
Eric smiled faintly.
As expected, he was still considered a worthless nobody in everyone's eyes. He had little influence.
To Alicia, she was just fulfilling her responsibility as the class president by helping a poor soul like him.
As for his promise of protection and repayment, as the daughter of a prestigious family, she really didn't take it to heart.
"The Magic Guild. Let me off there." Eric said.
Alicia nodded and instructed the driver.
However, she furrowed her brows slightly, puzzled. "The Magic Guild? What are you going there for?"
She herself was a Magic user, so the place was particularly sensitive for her. In fact, it was a place she dreamed of going to and knew she would eventually go.
Every Magic user had to go there to be officially recognized as a Magic user.
But Alicia, at her current level, hadn't yet reached the threshold to be a Low-level Magic user.
Eric, expressionless, chose not to hide anything. "To be honest with you, I'm going to get certified as a Low-level Magic user."
"A Low-level Magic user?" Alicia frowned, scoffing at the idea.
How could she possibly believe that Eric was a Low-level Magic user?
Alicia said, somewhat helplessly, "You're going to work at the Magic Guild, right? I heard some students in our class work there doing odd jobs."
"Is that so?" Eric raised an eyebrow. "It seems like big organizations like the Magic Guild sometimes hire students as temporary workers."
As they exchanged a few casual words, the Magic Guild arrived.
The door of the luxurious car slowly opened, and Alicia said, "Get out."
Eric stepped out, turning back with a smile. "Goodbye, class president."
Alicia replied, "Goodbye, Eric."
The luxury car drove off right in front of Eric's eyes.
At the same time, back at the school.
The red-haired guy, accompanied by a group of his buddies, stood at the school gate. Kevin walked out of the school, looking furious. "What's going on? Where's Eric? Is he still not out?"
The red-haired guy looked at Kevin. "Boss, what's going on? Didn't you get the girl?"
Kevin sighed. "She said she was in a hurry to go to work. I had planned to beat up Eric in front of her to show her who's boss…"
"Forget that for now, where is Eric?" Kevin's eyes widened.
The red-haired guy exchanged a glance with his lackeys, feeling helpless. "Boss, Eric got picked up by Alicia. She took him away in her family's car..."
"What? He left!?" Kevin exploded in rage. Not only had he failed to get the girl, but now Eric had managed to slip away too.
"What the hell are you guys doing?" Kevin gritted his teeth.
"Boss, it's not our fault. Alicia was there, who would dare do anything? After all, her family is..." The red-haired guy spoke quickly, his voice filled with panic.
Kevin let out a low grunt. "Fine, whatever. But it doesn't matter. There will be plenty of chances later. Let's go grab a drink."
Kevin led the group away from the school, muttering as he walked. "Next time, we'll definitely get Lilith out. She acts all pure, but I bet she's a wild one. And by the way, she even said she really wants to see Eric get beaten up..."
Meanwhile, Eric stood in front of the Magic Guild's grand entrance, taking a deep breath.
The magnificent Magic Guild building stood tall, reaching toward the clouds with imposing grandeur. The pale white stone pillars supported a massive archway, intricately carved with Magic runes.
The sunlight reflected off the surface of the building, casting dazzling golden light. On either side of the large doors stood two guards in silver armor, holding long spears and maintaining a solemn expression.
"Magic Guild, here I come!" Eric said, stepping forward with determination.
