Zimo stood still, his gaze fixed on the dark void where Kivu had consumed the remains of Maya and Jacques. Their muffled screams still echoed in his mind, but they no longer elicited guilt—only curiosity.

As Kivu's shadow rippled, her form expanded slightly, an almost imperceptible shift. Her green eyes glowed brighter, and her presence seemed to thrum with renewed power.
Level 12. She had grown so quickly. So quickly that it was a bit terrifying. Well, he had grown quickly too, and with these new kills, he had accomplished yet another mission. And yet, Jason could not imagine what was going on. It was very clear to Jason that something was happening… She was not eating crystals, and yet she was growing.
This meant she might be growing because she swallowed those bodies… A thought came to ZImo at that moment. So it was because they were levelled... whatever high meant. Wait, no she had eaten the other one too. So it was only from Maya... interesting. But she had this new attribute though...
Wait... why did she have all these attributes now? Where did they come from? ZImo wanted to ask her the question, but it never came to him. He just stood there for a moment as a smile came to him. So she must have been taking the attributes from the Beasts and the people she was eating this whole time.
How interesting...
But still, there was another question in his mind. If she had all these attributes, then what did that mean about the magic she was capable of? Did it mean she was capable of more than whatever she had on her at that time? Or was there an even deeper meaning?
Zimo exhaled slowly. The bond between them deepened with every death and every victory. He wondered just how much he was inheriting from her. But one thing was for sure. If this coldness that he was embodying at that moment was helping him take on this moment, then he was grateful for having it. After all, it was the one thing that was helping him move forward. It was probably the only thing that was helping him stay standing...
He smirked. "Looks like you've got more secrets than I thought," he said, glancing at Kivu, or rather his shadow. The green eye in the shadow began blinking slowly in interest, her way of acknowledging his words without giving anything away.
At that moment there was a massive blinding light that erupted from somewhere spreading everywhere simultaneously and ZImo couldn't help but narrow and shield his eyes. Kivu was lucky she was in his shadow. He wished he could chill over there too. But unfortunately, he had to be out there, to bear all of that light.
After the light passed by, ZImo opened his eyes again, and looked around, and in the next moment, he saw KIvu come out of the shadow in her tiny little panther form. Zimo saw that look in her eyes as she turned to the distance. What was that? Excitement?
Kivu growled softly, her massive head tilting toward the horizon and there Zimo saw something he had never expected. It was a brilliant beam of light that erupted into the stormy sky. The more time passed, the more Zimo understood that the feeling he was feeling from Kivu was exactly this thing. It was excitement. The Beast's shadowy form trembled as though anticipating a feast.
Zimo smirked. "You're insatiable," he said, mounting her sleek, fur-like form as she grew bigger and bigger while hopping out of the room and heading out of the factory Zimo had walked into to do his business. Zimo chuckled, seeing her run so quickly. Whatever that thing was must be exciting.
"Fine, you crazy Beast. Let's see what this is about. But we're stopping for food and Deadspawn along the way," Zimo said, with a chuckle.
Kivu's response was a low, self-satisfied rumble. Without another sound, she leapt into the air, her form blending seamlessly into the encroaching darkness. They ran through the city, the desolation of the land below blurring into indistinct shapes.
They weren't just running. They were laying waste to everything around there. Killing anything they were coming across. ZImo even managed to complete one of his missions at that time, and after a few moments, they found a small store, grabbing a few useful items before going on their way. He soon began seeing the world for what it had recently become...

It had only been a bit over 24 hours after the descent of the rain, but the world had grown cruel in all this time. Somehow it felt as if the black rain had ruined things, more than the people or the animals, it felt like everything was decaying. It was the cities that lay in ruin.
Zimo wondered why this was the case. Maybe the actual content of the thing he was holding, the black rain, was something that could decay cities. Or maybe it was something else. Cities lay in ruins, their skeletons picked clean by the DeadSpawn.
Twisted remnants of humanity roamed their hollow eyes a stark contrast to Zimo's resolute focus. Some would beg for help, others would clutch whatever they had and run away. Some would give him promises. Zimo ignored them all. They would find their way. After all, everyone was participating in this game, whatever it was. They were all meant to be Tamers were they not? These people were the most useless of Tamers.
The sky, perpetually cloaked in ash and storm, cast an eerie pallor over everything. It was a world devoid of hope, yet Zimo felt alive.
He nestled deeper into Kivu's fur, the sensation surprisingly comforting. Her shadows clung to him like a protective cocoon. It felt really warm to him, a feeling he could never get over no matter how he tried. "Where were you all my life?" he murmured, half to himself.
Kivu responded with a playful growl, her green eyes flicking back to meet him briefly before she focused ahead, continuing to the location she and he were heading to.
Zimo chuckled. "Don't get cocky." But in the next moment when Kivu came to a stop, Zimo raised his head and saw what was going on.
Their journey had been interrupted by a barricade, a makeshift wall of debris and mechanical parts blocking a crumbling convenience store. Kivu slowed, her predatory eyes scanning their surroundings.
Zimo dismounted, his boots crunching against the broken asphalt. "Damn," he muttered. "SOmething's here... This was put up to protect something..."
Kivu's ears flattened, and her gaze snapped toward a nearby rooftop. A low growl reverberated through her chest. Zimo followed her line of sight, and after seeing something up there,
Was that a Beast? He activated [Beast Eye].
