A boy was walking down the street with a big smile plastered on his face.
'Hehe, I got a perfect score in the last exam. Mother will be happy!' the boy thought to himself in giddy.
With the test result papers in his hands, the boy began to cross the road after he noticed the signal turn green.
WHISTLE
A whistle escaped his lips as he thought about what he should ask his parents to get him, 'maybe the new PS5?' The boy mused happily.
HONK
But just then, a honk suddenly blared across the street as a truck hurtled down towards the boy.
The boy snapped his head to the side to see the truck near him.
His heart thumped against his chest while his legs felt like jelly.
He clenched his jaw as he desperately tried to jump away, but to no avail; his legs weren't listening to him.
Tears fell down his cheeks as the truck reached him; "No," he whispered in defeat.
"KID LOOKOUT!!"
Just then, a shout echoed in the boy's mind as he felt pushed to the side.
'Huh!?' the boy exclaimed, confused by the sudden push. He wasn't hit by the truck, that's for sure.
He turned towards the source of the voice only to see a man who appeared to be in his early 20s.
He had a dreadful look on his face as they realised he couldn't escape.
The boy watched in horror as the truck hit the man who had just saved him.
THUD
The boy fell on the road with a thud while the man flew across the street before crashing into a parked car.
CRASH
GASPS
A series of gasps escaped the lips of the onlookers while the boy remained frozen in shock.
'No!' the boy mumbled again before everything went black.
…..
In a luxuriously decorated bedroom filled with expensive furniture, beautiful paintings was a young man lying in his bed.
He seemed to be unconscious as he had a medical band taped across his head.
The young man, who seemed to be in his late teens, had jet-black shoulder-length hair. With his pale skin and his twig-like body, anyone would assume him to be dead if not for the slow rise and fall of his stomach.
But his peaceful face was disturbed as he creased his brows while his eyes shifted frantically as if he were having a bad nightmare.
Suddenly, the young man opened his eyes, revealing his two blood-red eyes that looked as if they were in pain.
"Gahhh!!" the young man shouted as he sat upright, gasping for breath.
It took a while for the young man to calm down as he soon registered the unfamiliar place he was in.
"Where am I?" he thought as he looked around.
"This isn't a hospital…," the man thought as he looked at the expensive paintings and colourful vases adorning the room.
But then, as if hit by a truck all over again, the man came to a realisation. His mind, filled with an unhealthy amount of webnovels, came to a single conclusion.
"I transmigrated!"
His heartbeat quickened while his pupils dilated at the thought. His chest heaved up and down while he clenched the fists of his new body.
"I died…" then mumbled, saddened by his death. It took a moment for him to calm down as the young boy took a deep breath.
SNIFF
"It's okay, I didn't have any family in my past life. And from the looks of it, I am definitely rich in my new one." The man mused.
Looking around once again, "I am definitely in a fantasy world." He muttered, feeling a little excited.
But as the young man was having his own monologue, the door to the room opened and in entered the most beautiful woman the young man has ever seen in his life.
The woman, who looked like she was in her early 20s, with long black hair draping down to her waist and her blood-red eyes staring at the young man, looked like a demoness, ready to kill her foe.
"You woke up," the woman muttered coldly. Her eyes turned sharp as she glared at the young man, "I wish you didn't, little brother."
The young man's eyes widened at the woman's words.
'What the fuck?' the man exclaimed inwardly in shock. Just as he was about to retort to the woman, a sudden pain hit his head.
"Aggghhh!" the young man yelled as he tightly clutched his head.
The woman's eyes widened a little before reverting back to their cold stare. She glanced at him for a moment before going back, leaving the room.
"AGGGHHH!"
Meanwhile, the man yelled in agony as a set of foreign memories filled his mind. Memories that didn't belong to him.
The set of memories overlapped with his current memories, making the young man experience them firsthand, overloading his brain and causing him to black out.
A few hours later,
"Mhmm," the young man mumbled as he slowly opened his eyes. He knitted his brows as he could still feel the lingering pain from the memory transfer.
'I never thought that shit would be that bloody painful!' the man cursed inwardly.
Feeling a movement beside him, he turned to his side, noticing two women sitting on the edges of the bed.
The first woman was his so-called sister, who was still gazing at him coldly. The young man stared at his sister for a moment before turning towards the other woman.
"Mother," the man called out, looking at the beautiful woman in her 40s. She had long silver hair and ash grey eyes that wavered at his call.
"Caelum, are you hurt?" she asked in concern while holding his frail hand with her soft hands.
'How soft…' Caelum exclaimed inwardly as he shook his head, "it doesn't hurt anymore, mother."
The woman took a breath of relief as she listened to her son. "You have to be more careful, son. You cannot get hurt like that!"
His mother reprimanded him, knowing that her son was okay.
Caelum cringed at her words as he recalled from the new memories just how he got his injuries: 'Died due to a goat ramming its head into his head, what a bastard!'
That's right, the previous Caelum tried to bully a fucking goat, which rammed its head into his, killing him.
'What kind of pathetic death is that!' he wondered in disgust, 'not just that, I can understand why that woman said that she wished I were dead!'
He muttered inwardly while glancing at his sister. "I am okay, mother. I just need a few hours of rest."
The woman nodded as she wiped the tears from the edges of her eyes and said, "All right, rest well."
She then kissed him on the forehead and left the room along with his sister, who still glanced at him coldly.
Caelum watched as they left the room, "Man, I could see the disappointment in her face that I didn't die."
He muttered out loud as he clicked his tongue. "But I can't blame her though; the previous guy was seriously a douchebag."
SIGH
The man sighed as he closed his eyes once again, "Anyway, I need some rest before I do anything else."
