Chapter 45 - False Beginning

The adventurer strolled calmly through the forest. The summer heat was extremely barring, and if not for both the combination of his straw hat and the trees' foliage, he would have gotten sunburnt. He wore a tattered mix of woodland jeans and green body covers that draped around his shoulders and spiralled down his back to his waist. He looked more like a homeless man than one of the highest-ranking adventurers.

'Tsk, so much work for just an avatar', the adventurer grumbled in annoyance. If not for his mistress, he would have turned down this mission. His stay in this realm was his private matter, and he never wanted to get involved with the feud between celestials and darklings.

'Now look at me, looking for the second son of the most dangerous emperor in existence; she better pay me a reasonable amount for this hassle', he mused inwardly as he kicked apart some shrubs and finally found the cave he was looking for.

'Tsk', he scoffed once more in annoyance as he brought out an old mechanical device from his pocket. A holographic terrain manifested itself in blue and white gridlines. He stared at the two dots, one representing himself and the other his objective. He scoffed once more in annoyance as he angrily kicked a small boulder. He turned to see the small number of termites scurrying from their broken home, and his face crunched further in annoyance.

"Ahhh!" He bellowed angrily, "How can a great being like me be reduced to this pathetic form?". He pushed the thoughts of defying his mistress out of his mind and bent down to observe the termites and in a shallow, eerie whisper, he said,

"Restoration." Instantly, the termite hill and all the living termites were morphed back into the existence of its unbothered past. He glanced down and observed the termite hill, which was back to how it had been minutes before he kicked it.

'just as I thought' His eyes went to the dozens of squashed termites; their carcasses lay there unmoving. 'Restoration never works on dead things; what sort of bizarre task did the mistress even give me? that woman knows how to get on my nerves.'

He frowned in frustration as he stood up, making sure not to disturb another life form. He went straight into the cave, deciding to get all this over with. Here the sunlight didn't penetrate that deep, but despite that, the cave wasn't that deep to even require it. He glanced around the cave and sniffed the air.

"Just as I thought, the time dilation in here is two years; it seems like that guy is involved in all this after all." The adventurer took out the mechanical device and placed it on the ground. It emitted a shrill sound and sent a quick wave as it scanned the cave. Multiple floors of grid blue and white lines erupted occasionally and spread across the cave's floor.

"Of all people to give such a tedious job to, it had to be me," the adventurer muttered as he waited, and finally the mechanical device beeped to show its scan was complete. "Hmm, fascinating"

Not too far from him was a highlighted form of dirt, He took the mechanical device and secured it in the highlighted spot. "I can't still believe that a primordial weapon would be wasted just like that... what a waste."

The mechanical device beeped again as it suddenly disintegrated into the spot. "Of course, it wouldn't work; it's been two years already."

He stopped instantly as he noticed the bright blue light, and before his very eyes, something he never thought he'd see began happening before him.

It started slowly; a drop of blood gushed out of the soil, and then more and more soon followed. The blood began flowing out in quick succession, and the adventurer had to take a step back to prevent himself from getting drenched in the bizarre liquid. The blood continued as it began moulding into the form of a humanoid shape, then white bones began materialising out of thin air, internal organs began following suit, and then muscular tissues. Simultaneously, the flesh was moulding into existence and then was covered by smooth bronze skin.

The adventurer was dumbfounded; laying before him was a completely naked boy with bronze skin and black curly hair. His eyes remained closed and his face completely unmoving; he wasn't even breathing, yet he had a powerful presence radiating from him.

"By the nine realms...what in existence did that abomination create?!"
