Chapter 2 - 2. Poor Guy

Yah! Don't cover my eyes," I huffed.

"Haha! Are you scared , Izzy ? Just a few more minutes," I heard a giggle behind me .

"Surprise!" He removed his hands and I looked around we were in a field full of daisies stretching out in every direction. Their white and yellow colors contrasted with the green vibrant grass swaying in the gentle breeze , alongside their delicate petals.

Butterflies fluttered gracefully among the flowers ,hoping from daisy to daisy. Their colorful wings added a touch of playfulness to the peaceful scene.

"This is the best goodbye gift ever. Thank you-" my words faded as his face blurred like watercolors in rain.

Can't believe I recalled this memory. I don't even remember his name ,as if he was completely erased from my memory. Sixteen years ago, I was there with him. Who even is he ? When will all this stop?

"Izzy, I know you'll leave tomorrow, but promise me that you'll always remember me. Promise me that we'll always stay friends like this," He requested, poking his pinky out.

I wrapped mine around his. "Ofcourse --------. We'll always be friends like this," I said. Hearing my words ,he gave me a small smile . His tensed muscles relaxed a bit ." When I grow up I'll find you,Izzy ,and then we'll be together," He said.

The room exuded grandeur with its high ceilings adorned with sophisticated chandeliers . Rich and lavishly elegant furniture enhance the sense of luxury.

Expansive windows with sheer, flowing curtains allowed the warm summer light to seep in. Ornate paintings and mirrors reflect the room's grandeur. A grand marble fireplace acted as a decorative centrepiece, showing off elegance even in summer.

A girl lay on the lavish bed, asleep, alone and locked in this room. Tossing and turning on the bed, covered in sweat, she was stuck in a recurring dream.

I opened my eyes . I could feel the wetness near my eyes . Seriously, did I cry over this dream again?. I looked around me . Aye this ain't my room. And why is my head spinning. That's when last night's memories came in.

[ Author pov: whelp! Look at this girl broke both her promises 🥲 ]

2 men stood outside her room.

"She's been kicking the door for the last 15 minutes. Should we call the boss?", asked one of them.

"No, man! Are you crazy? He went out for business ;we're not suppose to trouble him. And this girl, she's getting on my nerves now. I wonder where she got this much energy from?", snapped his companion.

"Yeah, Jim, I've been thinking same thing. The dose which the boss gave her was prepare by Mr. Brooke himself. Just one dose is enough to keep an elephant unconscious for a week", Agreed the man standing next Jim.

"Maybe boss gave her too little dosage." Mocked Jim.

"Yeah! By the way, Jim , why are you wearing a cap and sunglasses ? I mean, no offense , but there's no sunlight in this part of the mansion ,you know? And this mask?" , questioned the oblivious man who just noticed his friend's peculiar fashion sense.

" I'm wearing these cause of my purple eye that I got while fighting an alley freak. William, if you don't mind ,can you please bring me a glass of water? That freak put me in a headlock and now my neck's a bit stiff. I'm having trouble talking." cough cough pleaded Jim.

[ Author pov: Honestly this reminded me of the asthma attack scene from 'Chor nikal ke bhaga' .]

"Oh, okay! I'll bring it right away . But you should seriously go to Izek sir's training program, which takes place every Tuesday and Sunday ." William's voice faded as he turned from the end of the hallway towards the kitchen on the second floor.

Inside the kitchen, William...

"Poor guy ,Jim. Lemme make him a cup of medicinal tea instead. Yeah! That would be great." William decided.

He walked into the kitchen, a room he was familiar with but never ceased to appreciate. The marble countertops gleamed under the light of a crystal chandelier, whose light drew intricate designs on the beautiful marble floor.

The custom cabinetry, made from rich mahogany ,added a touch of classic elegance , surfaces polished to perfection

William moved with practiced ease, pulling open a drawer to reveal a collection of different exotic teas, from which he chose chamomile tea for its soothing properties, already imagining the relief it would bring to Jim.

"Aah ! Lemme out ,you bastards. I have a blackbelt in karate . Yah!" distant voice

"Lemme grab my headphones, or else her screams will tear my eardrums. " sighed William.

He then grabbed his headphones and started singing loudly, vibing to the song.

🎶 🎵 ' It's just a song

An inefficient way to move a story along.

I'm done.'

"Uhmm! Mhmm! Uhmmm!",(distant voices)

"Huh! What was it? Leave it . Whatever . Moreover ,Jim's already there." William thought to himself.

'You're just being cynical

No it's just a principle

Someone , won't you make it , make it

stop'

"Aah! Leave me ,you bastard, you lemme go. No !" (distant voices)

"Huh! 'Leave me' shouldn't it be 'lemme out of this GoD dAmN RoOOoOOOooOOm'. Haha." William chuckled to himself.

'Don't make it stop.' 🎶 🎵

"Alas! I have to." He whined playfully as he was done makin' the tea. After switching off the gas stove, he poured the tea in a cup.

He set his headphones aside and put them in his pocket . Just as he was about to turn around, William felt a cold object on the back of his head . The cup slipped from his hand making a loud crash as it hit the ground.

Turning around, William was greeted by an unknown man pointing an Astra A-100 at him and sound of gun shots , coming from other parts of the mansion.

Before William could react, the man was lay dead , blood spurting out his now perforated heart.
