In the dark void, the little girl watched the scene on the screen.
Her eyes went wide with fear. She stretched out her small hands toward the screen as if she could touch him, as if her little hands could shield him from harm.
"STOP!!! she howled, a shattering pitch that cut in and out and grew louder on her last utterance. She sagged forward all the way this time, putting her forehead across the cold openness of the night, begging quietly into the distance, "H-h-please. Please don't hurt him… don't leave me! He's all I have."
"Papa… I can't see you die again!" she sobbed through her tears.
Her voice shot up into a scream of desperation, cutting through the emptiness like the sharpest knife. "DON'T KILL MY PAPA!"
Her shriek echoed through the darkness, growing louder and more powerful, and the vacuum around her quivered, rippling as if it felt her pain. Her delicate hands grasped at the floor as waves of raw emotion surged out of her.
