Ronan sat up in his cot, his ragged breathing ragged, with sweat soaking the bed beneath him. His heart ran in his chest. Flashes of something horrible and monstrous filled his mind: a giant black beast, bloody claws, and a glowing glyph that blocks mana.
For a moment, he remained motionless, his hands shaking, pointing at the blanket wrapped around him. His body was all bandages, but the hurt was nothing compared to what befuddled his brain. All at once, there was a voice that cut through the disturbance of his senses.
"Are you alright?" someone asked tentatively.
His head jerked up, surveying the surroundings. Standing at the entrance was a tall figure—a woman with bright pink hair and sharp blue eyes. She looked at him with wariness and curiosity mixed.
"Royal knight Commander, Roselyn Everhart," Ronan mumbled flatly, sliding his gaze away as he leaned back against the cot.
