The room was quiet in the dead of night, broken only by the soft crackle of a lantern. Ronan sat slumped in his chair, his head tilted back, his face lined with exhaustion. Faint traces of sadness lingered in his expression.
On the bed, Blaky lay motionless, her tiny form rising and falling with slow, steady breaths.
On the rooftop of opposite building, a figure had positioned itself against the moon across the street, with a white and gold knight staring through a window at Ronan.
"Why does he talks to the cat as if it is a human?" the knight whispered to himself, his voice acid with distrust. His eyes narrowed. "And what are the children he is constantly referring to? Might they have some connection to… her?"
So far away, a void of nothingness stretched out, dark and endless as a sea. Heavy air clung to the skin, pressed in on the chest, and felt cold. In the empty space of the void, a little girl floated aimlessly.
