Chapter 12 - Take My Fireball

The core of the synthetic beast looks like an enlarged neuron, with several thick blood vessels extending outward from the core. When the beast is alive, a huge amount of blood is transported to various parts of the body through these blood vessels, and a constant supply of energy is also transported to every corner of the beast's body along with the blood.

And now, the monster is rotting rapidly, but this core is still beating healthily.

Richard held the core of the synthetic beast. Its outward-extending blood vessels had been closed, and the remaining blood began a tiny internal circulation inside it.

To Richard, it felt less like an organ and more like a special kind of parasite.

"no."

Richard made his decision.

After fainting during the last refining, Richard learned his lesson and decided to do the refining in a safe place in the future.

Besides, the production of this synthetic beast core is of no use at this critical juncture, so there is no loss in keeping it for later extraction.

The dead monster turned into a pile of bones in a few minutes. Richard searched in the sewage and saw a staff wrapped in a bag.

"It seems that this is the magic prop prepared by the academy."

Richard took the staff in his hand. The staff was about half a meter long and weighed about one pound. The staff was black, and a spherical crystal the size of a baby's fist was inlaid on the top. After Richard used his mental power to explore it, a message that seemed to be left by the maker immediately appeared in Richard's mind.

[This staff is engraved with the secondary fireball spell, which takes three minutes to charge. It does not have a self-charging circuit and consumes one-third of a standard magic stone each time.]

Richard, who sensed the information, was amazed. He had never seen such a way of information transmission before and it felt very magical.

"Secondary Fireball, one-third of a magic stone each time, and there is a charging time." Richard waved his wand twice, "The cost performance is a bit low compared to the Ice Cone Ring in this exam."

The power of Lesser Fireball should be greater than that of Ice Cone, but the enemies he is facing now, except for the Warcraft, are almost all high-attack and low-defense. Ice Cone, a spell with almost no charging time and low consumption, is perfectly suitable for the current environment.

The secondary fireball is like using a cannon to kill a mosquito.

"But it's better to have it than nothing. Who knows, we might run into monsters in the future."

Richard shook his head, feeling that he was a little too greedy.

After putting away the core of the synthetic beast, Richard cast a silencing spell on himself. Although it was the middle of the night, the noise made by the monsters was quite loud, and there might be someone who wanted to take advantage of the situation.

It's always better to be safe.

Shortly after Richard left, several apprentices who wanted to take advantage of the situation came to the corpse of the monster.

"We are late. Someone got there first."

"What should I do? It's a wasted trip?"

Several apprentices looked at each other, then turned to look at the bald apprentice who was in the lead.

The bald apprentice was thinking for a moment and about to make a decision when he suddenly saw a tall figure jumping out of the woods.

The man was at least two meters tall, wearing chain mail on his burly body, with seven or eight bags tied around his waist. In one hand he held a two-handed sword, and in the other he held a dying wizard apprentice.

"You don't have to think about what to do, because you will all die here."

The next day, the sun rose as usual.

Richard stood up from a pile of dead leaves. After meditation, his spirit was no different from that of a night's sleep. But a good spirit does not mean a good body. After a day of traveling and a midnight chase, Richard's whole body was sore.

But we still have to catch up.

Dragging his aching body, Richard started to hurry on his way again. The rampage of the monsters last night was not without benefits. In addition to the magic items on their bodies, some paths were trampled out in the forest by these monsters.

This saved Richard a lot of effort.

With the help of the light body technique, Richard easily completed half of the journey on the second day.

As they got closer to the gathering point, the density of apprentices became higher and higher.

These apprentices had at least two or three bags on them. After meeting each other, except for some mentally unstable apprentices, most of them showed their crystal balls and then turned and left.

Few of those who can survive half of the journey are good people. They have human lives on their hands. When the risks and benefits are not commensurate, few people will risk their lives.

At night, Richard hid among the dead leaves and meditated as usual.

Although most people who can reach this range have met the test requirements, it is always better to be safe than sorry. Richard always felt that someone was following him when he was traveling during the day. This feeling made him feel uneasy and it was difficult for him to even enter a meditative state.

A few dozen meters away from Richard, a tall figure with a dozen bags tied around his waist was squatting on a tree, silently looking at the place where Richard was hiding.

"I've been following him for a whole day, and this guy has been busy all the time, avoiding people whenever possible. Can such a coward really kill that monster?"

He had thought that an apprentice who could kill the monster must be a knight and should be a good opponent, but after following him for a day, he found that this guy was no different from those idiots.

Is it hidden?

...

Richard, who was meditating, suddenly felt his heart tighten. A sharp sound of breaking air made him subconsciously lean forward to avoid it.

With a bang, Richard saw a wooden spear as thick as his arm beside him.

This wooden spear is estimated to be more than one meter long, with a sharp end. After being inserted into the tree trunk, the tail end was still shaking constantly.

Someone is attacking, and it's a master.

Richard's heart sank, and he immediately grasped the fireball staff he had obtained yesterday.

To be able to do something like this with wood, the person must either have extremely powerful magic props or be a genius knight.

Richard hoped it was the former, because the latter was likely to have both magic items and the strength of a knight.

"He dodged it. It seems he has some skills."

A voice came from not far away. Richard turned around and saw a tall figure with a two-handed sword and a dozen bags tied around his waist walking out of the woods.

"More than a dozen bags. Looks like we've encountered a lunatic."

Richard unconsciously exerted force on the hand holding the wand. In this test where he only needed to kill one person to pass, he killed more than a dozen apprentices and hung their bags around his waist as trophies.

This guy is obviously a lunatic, and a very powerful lunatic.

"Let me introduce myself. I am Saban Chavez from the Norton Empire." The tall figure shouted loudly, "What is your name, sir?"

Richard took advantage of the moonlight shining through the woods to see the man's face clearly. He had red hair, triangular eyes, a high nose bridge, and a scar extending from his nose bridge to the corners of his eyes.

He carried the greatsword on his shoulder, and although the chain mail on his body had many tears, there were no scars on his body.

"This is a master, most likely a knight." Richard made a judgment.

"No answer?"

After waiting for a while and seeing Richard not blowing up his house, Saban shrugged helplessly, and the next second he rushed towards Richard with a big sword.

"The guy who didn't even tell me his name should just die."

Richard looked at Saban coldly, and the staff in his hand flashed a red light.

"Idiot, take my fireball."
