'Whoo, I did not expect that!' a man mumbled as he crossed the road.
His head was glued to the screen while his black hair fell down his shoulders. His unkempt beard felt itchy as he tried to scratch it away.
"Hah! What a waste of talent! I wonder why these novel writers are afraid to have romance in their stories!" the man grumbled in displeasure.
He scrunched his nose as he read the novel, forgetting everything around him.
"Man, if I were the MC, I would have all the female characters for myself!" the man exclaimed as he grinned.
HONK
But then, suddenly, a honk blared to his right as the man heard the tyres screech against the road.
Before the man could even process what was happening, a truck hit him, sending him flying across the street.
CRASH
THUD
The man, flying like a broken kite, crashed against the car before falling to the ground with a thud.
"U-Uhh…" The man let out a weak moan as he could feel the broken bones, the mashed-up organs, and the blood leaving his body.
'Is this how I die….?' the man wondered, tears trickling down his mangled jaw.
'I wish I could—' before the man could finish his sentence, life left his body, leaving behind a mangled corpse.
….
In an unknown world in a different universe of swords and magic, where gods and dragons exist.
In one of the many castles dotting the world, people gathered in front of a garden.
Fresh air hit the visitors, rejuvenating them while the clear sky put a small smile on the faces of the people who could enjoy its beauty.
But none of the attendees cared for it. Their gazes were fixed on the garden with a serious look.
But the garden itself was odd as it was filled with swords impaled in the ground.
"I wonder which sword the young master would choose." One of them whispered into the other's ear.
"Me too…" the other man replied, his gaze never leaving the baby crawling in the garden of swords.
Beside the baby was a beautiful woman, dressed in servant's clothes. She had shoulder-length brunette hair and light brown eyes.
A kind smile adorned her face as she looked at the baby and said, "Cheer up, Young Master Jin!"
But the baby she was trying to cheer up was confused.
'WHAT!?' the baby exclaimed inwardly in shock!
'Haven't I died? Where is this place? And how can I understand that woman!?'
The man, transmigrated into the body of the baby, muttered in shock as he was able to understand the woman beside him.
His baby heart pounded against his chest as he realised, 'I transmigrated…!'
He turned his head towards the woman, who was smiling at him. He could see the love she had for him in her eyes as she tried to cheer him up.
"Cheer up, Young master Jin." She repeated.
'Wait…' the baby tilted his head while he creased his baby brows, 'Young Master Jin?'
He squinted his eyes a little as he thought he had heard that name before.
'Isn't that the name of the MC from Swordmaster's Youngest Son!' The baby's eyes widened in shock as realisation dawned upon him.
'I am Jin Runcandel…?' he muttered inwardly.
He turned his head slowly towards the swords impaled in the ground, 'Then this is the garden of swords…'
The baby could feel the heavy gazes of the people present as it wondered what it should do now.
'Okay, okay, calm down…' the baby mumbled to itself.
'I have died and transmigrated into the body of Jin Runcandel, the youngest son of Chiron Runcandel, the genesis knight.' He recalled the novel he had read in his past life.
'This must be the selection ceremony, where I must choose a sword…' he took a deep breath, calming down his nerves as he thought, 'I have got two options.'
Focusing on the swords, he continued, 'First, I can choose any sword, making me just another child of the patriarch, or choose Barisada and gain everyone's attention…'
Each has its own merits and demerits; choosing Barisada would give him attention from everyone, especially the patriarch.
'But the downside too is that I will have eyes on me every time. And I also don't know if I have Solderet's contract, nor do I know if I still have that curse.'
But choosing just another sword would make him just another child. He will not have much attention, and there is a chance his new parents would ignore him.
'It all comes down to what I want to do in this world: do I want to become an influential figure, or do I want to be just another nobody?'
The baby mused as it scratched its itchy bum, leading to a few chuckles from the crowd.
As the baby mused, his last words in his past life echoed in his ears, 'Man, if I were the MC, I would have all the female characters for myself.'
The baby's eyes gleamed as a smile crept on his lips, which slowly widened into a grin, 'That's right, I am the MC of this world. I cannot become a no-name bum! I am Jin Runcandel!'
Taking a decision, the baby began to crawl among the swords, reeling in the attention of the crowd as they watched their youngest young master.
Jin crawled past many swords, his eyes fixated on the one sword among the many.
It was a black sword with a golden guard around its hilt.
GASPS
Gasps echoed through the garden as the crowd watched with widened eyes as Jin selected Barisada, the Patriarch's sword.
Amidst the gasps of the spectators, a thunderous voice boomed through the air.
"The youngest has chosen Barisada. The ceremony is over. Move him to the Storm Castle."
The voice was emotionless as it gave its verdict.
But Jin ignored the voice for now, his eyes glinted with excitement as he eyed the sword, 'Wait for me, my beautiful ladies; I shall conquer you all!'
