CHAPTER 8
Knock, knock.
"Do any of you think Miss Maya will be home?" the young officer asked his colleagues.
The door swung open, revealing a man with a strikingly handsome face, though his scowl gave him an air of irritation. His lips curled into a sardonic smile as he asked, "What does it matter if she's home?"
"Well, sir," the young officer began, clearing his throat, "Miss Maya is currently under the strict protection of the SSIS—the Supernatural Squad in Service—and we're here to retrieve her contact information."
The man at the door raised an eyebrow, his scowl fading into something more neutral, though a mischievous glint flickered in his eyes. "Oh, really?" he said, his tone light but sharp. "Maya did mention leaving her contact information for some officers, if they showed up. But..." He tilted his head slightly, his sly smile deepening. "Tell me, don't you recognise me?"
The young officer straightened, his eyes widening slightly. "Oh, I recognise you, sir. You're the actor—Sir Felix."
"Good," Felix said, the corner of his mouth twitching upward. He handed over a slip of paper. "Here's her contact information, then. Mine is on the back. Make sure to inform me immediately if anything happens to Maya. I'm her brother."
"Yes, sir," the young officer replied, snapping into a salute.
The other two officers, silent witnesses to the exchange, exchanged bemused glances as Felix's cold yet charismatic demeanour lingered in the air. Then—BAM!—the door slammed shut, snapping them out of their daze. Well now, one of the officer's says 'we should head back'.
