[Two days before the incident (Chapter 7)]
Ethan
Every morning, it's the same routine: heading to school. But today is a little different—I'm not alone.
Walking beside me is Rubielle, a girl with braided white hair, dressed in a school uniform and wearing a bracelet as an accessory.
I met her just two days ago when she fell from the sky. It sounds absurd, but that's exactly what happened. She started tagging along with me for reasons I still don't understand. Honestly, I thought having an isekai friend would be cool, like something straight out of an anime.
However...
"Ethan, human, what is that?"
"That's a bicycle."
Being new to this world, she doesn't know much about anything here.
ARF! ARF!
"Eek!"
"What's wrong?"
"A-a beast!"
"Oh, that's just a dog."
"So it's called a dog? I'd better eliminate this creature for everyone's safety!"
*Flinch*
Before I could react, Rubielle began chanting rapidly, casting a big red magic circle out of thin air.
"W-WAIT! Don't hurt it! Dogs are harmless! Well... most of them."
I crouched down and called out, "Come here, boy."
The dog approached, wagging its tail innocently.
"Are you sure it won't eat you?" she asked, hesitantly.
"Hehe, no. A lot of people keep them as pets."
"Pets?"
"Yeah, they adopt and tame them to live together."
"Tame? Are the people in this world all beast tamers? That's very impressive!"
It didn't seem like she really got the idea, but I let it slide.
"Y-yeah, exactly. They're totally harmless—"
Before I could finish, the dog turned to Rubielle, glaring at her.
Grrr...
"W-what.. why is it looking at me like that? Aren't they harmless?"
ARF! ARF! ARF!
"K-KYAAAAAA NOOOOO! WHAT PART OF THAT IS HARMLESS?!"
Rubielle bolted down the street as the dog barked and chased after her. Surprisingly, she made it to school earlier than usual that day.
"Dogs are terrifying beasts!" she declared, completely traumatized.
