Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: Baptism by Fire

The battle erupted like a violent storm, light and flame clashing in a furious symphony of destruction. Jackeal charged forward, his body propelled by an unseen force, faster and stronger than any human could comprehend. His fists crackled with celestial energy as he hurled himself at the nearest Beast, its twisted form a writhing mass of molten muscle and jagged horns.

With a deafening roar, the Beast swung a colossal claw, aiming to rip Jackeal apart. He twisted mid-air, barely dodging the attack as the ground behind him exploded into shattered rock. He landed with a heavy thud, adrenaline roaring through his veins.

"Focus."

The voice commanded again, calm yet absolute. Jackeal gritted his teeth, channeling the burning energy searing his veins. His right hand pulsed with radiant power, forming an ethereal spear of blazing light. Without hesitation, he thrust it forward, piercing the Beast's shoulder.

A hellish screech ripped through the air as dark ichor spewed from the wound, sizzling against the scorched earth. The Beast staggered but did not fall. Its monstrous eyes burned with rage, and its brothers advanced, undeterred by the sudden resistance.

The Village in Chaos...

Elder Kaelen led the villagers in a desperate retreat toward the old temple at the heart of Elderspire. Fires spread through the village as more Beasts emerged from the rift, their forms grotesque and unnatural—manifestations of destruction itself.

"We must hold the line!" Kaelen shouted, rallying the few warriors left. They stood trembling, their simple iron blades useless against demonic hide. They were farmers and tradesmen—not soldiers.

Suddenly, a deafening explosion echoed from the cliffs beyond the village. They turned to see radiant light piercing the night, illuminating Jackeal locked in brutal combat against the monstrous invaders. Hope flickered in their hearts—but only for a moment.

---

The Turning Point...

One of the Beasts lunged at Jackeal with terrifying speed, its claws dripping with venomous dark mana. He blocked the attack with a hastily conjured shield of light, but the force sent him skidding back. His breathing grew ragged as exhaustion clawed at him—his newfound power was burning him from within.

"You are still too weak," the voice boomed, cold and unforgiving.

Jackeal collapsed to one knee, sweat pouring down his face. The Beasts encircled him like vultures, their claws twitching in anticipation. He knew he couldn't last much longer—but surrender was not an option.

Suddenly, something changed.

The earth trembled violently, and an ancient rune etched itself into the ground beneath Jackeal. Golden chains of light erupted from the earth, ensnaring the Beasts mid-charge. They writhed and roared in defiance but could not break free.

"Accept your purpose... or perish."

Jackeal's eyes flared with blinding intensity as a searing symbol burned into his chest—an ancient mark of divine authority. Power unlike anything he had ever felt surged through him. His mortal limits shattered in an instant.

---

The Battle Reignited...

With a mighty war cry, Jackeal rose, his aura blazing like a second sun. He raised both hands, summoning twin blades of celestial fire. In a blur of radiant light, he struck with devastating precision, cutting through the trapped Beasts with relentless fury.

The earth trembled beneath the clash of forces, and the heavens themselves seemed to recoil from the violence below. As the last Beast crumbled into smoldering ash, Jackeal stood alone amid the devastation, panting but victorious.

Final Scene: A Dark Omen...

Far beneath the shattered earth, in the forgotten depths of the abyss, Lucifer stirred. His infernal eyes snapped open, burning with rage and cold realization.

"So... the first seal is broken."

His twisted lips curled into a malevolent smile.

"Good... Let the games begin."

To be continue...
