Eve walked back and forth in her room, until now she had not been able to contact Lucy, her best friend.
"I hope Lucy is okay." Staring at the phone screen repeatedly, but Lucy didn't even reply to Eve's message.
"Gosh, I'm getting worried. Why hasn't Lucy texted me back yet?" murmured an increasingly worried Eve, unconsciously biting her thumbnail at a loss as to how she could find out how Lucy was doing.
"Should I visit her house? But it doesn't seem to be easy, Lucy's family is a respected person, it is impossible to accept my arrival with unclear origins." Eve bit her thumbnail again, she was getting agitated.
"EVE!"
Eve's mother's loud voice sounded very clear, even making the girl tiptoe in surprise. "What else? Why is that old man always so noisy," Eve muttered irritably, forced to open the door to her room.
When she opened the door, Eve's mother was already in front with a smiling smile, making Eve confused. "Are you drunk again?" Eve immediately walked away from her mother's presence.
"Oh my gosh Eve. Why don't you tell me if you want to get married soon." Eve's mother suddenly put her arm around the girl's shoulders and was friendly.
Eve stopped her steps, "Enough Kate Anderson. Don't be nice, I'm tired." Knocking her mother's hand off her shoulder. Eve suspected that her mother would ask for more money to get drunk and gamble. If it wasn't for her late father's message, Eve would have left the house long ago. She was really fed up with her own mother.
"Hello Miss Eve Anderson. We have come by order of Mr. Carlo." Several people wearing all black clothes were suddenly in the living room of Eve's house.
The girl became even more nervous, she gawked for a few seconds at the arrival of several people who were dressed in black and also neat. Then Eve's gaze quickly turned to a pile of items that were famous for their brand.
"What is this? And this stuff? You seem to have the wrong address," Eve said. She quickly turned around, as if it wasn't her.
"It's not right. This wasn't in the agreement, Mr. Carlo should have discussed it with me first." Eve bit her lip. She glanced at her mother who was silent.
"What are you saying Eve? They even mentioned your name," Kate Anderson couldn't accept the gift being taken back by its owner. She had even fantasized about selling all the expensive items.
"I said no, didn't I?" Eve raised her voice slightly. She immediately told the men to go and bring back all the luxury items.
"Not now. Please," Eve whispered. She really hoped that the men would understand her situation.
"Eve! What did you do? They gave you a gift, why are you refusing?" Kate prevented the men from bringing back all the luxury goods. She didn't want to lose the opportunity to earn a lot of money.
"Sorry, we had the wrong address." One of them said that and quickly left. Eve could breathe with relief, not expecting that Mr. Carlo's men could work together.
Kate sat down limply, the image of a lot of money disappeared instantly. She stared at Eve with a look of overwhelming anger.
"You! What are you hiding from me? It's clear that they mentioned Eve Anderson's name, so why is it the wrong address? Is this your silly game?!" Kate approached Eve. She did not hesitate to hit her only daughter.
"Stop it, Mom. There's no way those are all gifts for me. I'm not in a relationship with anyone," Eve replied tiredly. She had no energy to deal with her temperamental mother.
Eve quickly left her mother's presence, before entering the room, Eve clearly heard her mother's angry snort.
"I don't understand. I don't know when that old lady will turn good," Eve muttered. She then went into the room, still waiting for a reply to the message from Lucy, her best friend.
"Ting!"
A message arrived on Eve's cell phone. Immediately the girl checked who the sender was, she really hoped that it was a message from Lucy.
"New number? Who do you think?" Eve said when she realized it wasn't Lucy sending the message, but a new, unknown number.
"Come immediately to Muli Corp. -Carlo."
Eve blinked repeatedly, she reread the message, "Did I read it wrong? It finally says Carlo. Is he Mr. Carlo?" Eve was still gawking, as if she couldn't believe that the person who sent her the message was Carlo, the CEO at Multi Corp.
"But what if it is Mr. Carlo?" Eve was getting more and more indecisive. In her heart, she tried to believe that it was Carlo.
Eve bit her lip, then took a breath. "I have to hurry up. I'm sure it is indeed a message from Mr. Carlo." Eve immediately changed her clothes, and also did not forget to polish her face with light makeup.
Eve ordered a taxi online, the girl immediately drove to Multi Corp."I hope today is the day I start work," Eve muttered, trying to smile encouragingly. She was already dressed like an official employee at one of the famous companies.
"Miss, looks like you work at Multi Corp?" the driver asked rather awkwardly. But trying to be friendly to her passenger.
Eve smiled slightly, "Yes, you're right. I work there as a secretary."
"Ah, of course. Look at your appearance. So neat and charming, that company is indeed very famous among other companies. You are very lucky, Miss." The driver glanced briefly at Eve, then refocused on the road.
Eve only replied with a smile this time. She didn't want to get into too much conversation about Multi Corp.
"Here we are," the driver said, stopping the car right in front of Multi Corp's entrance.
Eve was a little taken aback, apparently she had been daydreaming about a lot of things. Especially Lucy, her best friend who hasn't been heard from until now. Eve checked her cell phone many times, but Lucy hadn't replied to her messages.
"Thank you, sir." Eve went downstairs, straightened her clothes a little, and cleared her throat. Then went to the security guard on duty.
Eve smiled kindly, "Excuse me, sir. I was instructed to meet Mr. Carlo," Eve said. She showed proof of the message sent by the CEO.
"Please come in. Of course, Mr. Carlo is expecting your arrival." The security guard opened the door kindly.
Eve exhaled heavily, "It's true that the one who sent me the message was Mr. Carlo."
Being in front of the door of the CEO of Multi Corp made Eve do heart exercises. Just a few seconds in front of the door, it has already made Eve's hands wet with sweat.
"Come on Eve, calm yourself down. Think of it as your job," Eve mentally encouraged herself.
Eve knocked on the door, then went inside. The first sight she saw was the CEO leaning back in a large chair with his head up. Eve's heart raced, unconsciously gulping down her saliva. Admiring God's creation that was so perfectly complete.
"Are you done admiring my good looks?" Carlo suddenly opened his eyes. Staring intently at Eve, as if he was stripping every inch of Eve's sexy body.
