"What did I even do?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly.
"I'll tell your father everything you've been doing," Mariela threatened, her tone laced with malice. "You just wait."
Hermia clenched her jaw, deciding that nothing she said would make a difference now. Instead of engaging further, she turned and headed upstairs, shutting her bedroom door behind her.
She dropped onto her bed face down, too drained to do anything else. The torn dress clung to her body, a painful reminder of the night's events.
What a life, she thought bitterly.
Her mind raced with questions. What would her father say? Would he even listen to her side of the story? She could already picture Mariela and Selena overwhelming him with their version of events, painting her as the villain.
